7 That Philip Klein article on HRC lays out why I do not think HRC will win. I cannot envision her having the same success as Obama. But the headline is correct. If she is able to pull out a win - then oh my.

I just don't see it happening.

8 Yesterday I listened to Chris Wallace as I drove east and a viewer wrote in with a question for the panel: Shouldn't Jebbie just run against Hillary, instead of on the GOP ticket?

The correct answer, of course, is "yes, indeedy, and you sir are a true moron for asking". Instead George Will, who needs to go to a retirement home somewhere post haste, started blubbering on "something...something...Ronald Reagan...something...". The upshot of his soliloquy was that RR endorses Jebster.

See what I mean? George belongs in a home.

10 The progressive titan of the Senate, Bernie Sanders, should be America's next President. Though social justice demands a female, Hillary Clinton's connections to shady Zionist banksters and her opposition to our historic first multiracial President demand a different choice.

If only Elizabeth Warren would step up.

12 I call BS on the Andrea Mitchell story.

The drunken old ratbag may have whinged a little about Choom Boy's golfing, but that was only one rare and isolated moment when she had his unit out of her mouth. And it was no doubt a prelude to breathless praise for Shrillery.

Same with Chuck Turd. Neither of them would distance themselves from Preezy Hussein, their adored Messiah and meal ticket.

13 Often not spoken is that there were 4 different Magna Cartas.

The first was annulled by the Pope.

Successive versions increasingly were written to infer statutory rather than fundamental rights.

22 One thing I like about Rubio (and I know he is not well liked by many around here) is that he has a seriousness about him when speaking. HRC / Obama - they play to the audience. They are snarky. Obama - I think is a just a fundamentally unserious and snarky person. In HRC's case - I think she is just trying to emulate Obama because it worked for him. Contrast with Rubio - he is much more "serious." I do respect that about him.

31 A brief aside: I don't think it's right to call this a case of Washington "dysfunction". Dysfunction is when we get outcomes nobody wants, or fail to do things everyone wants done, because there doesn't seem to be any way to package the politics. In this case, however, people who oppose comprehensive immigration reform voted down key enabling measures -- that is, they got what they wanted. Calling this "dysfunction" presumes that this deal is a good idea -- and that kind of presumption is precisely what got successfully challenged yesterday.

Ohio - depends on how Kasich's run plays out. If Kasich doesn't get much traction (I hope), then Jebbie could have a real shot at OH. Because of the big metro areas, OH is a purple state (sadly) and would like a Dem-lite like Jeb.

46 While talking to a smart lefty lawyer this weekend he said one of the really interesting things about the upcoming King v Burwell decision (which he thinks the gov't wins 6-3) is "how will Scalia vote?".

Scalia may hate ZeroCare, and may have written a blistering attack on Roberts position in his 2012 dissent in the last case, but in this case the government argument is one he himself has made in other notable cases (according to this lawyer/professor).

I pray this guy is way wrong.

I don't love him. But I like him. There are some things that bother me - but no politician is perfect. I prefer him in the Senate for now. I think he needs a few more years of seasoning - though I do not blame him for seizing the moment (the moment can float away quickly). There is more to being a leader than speaking - but I think he gives a good speech and he sells America. We need more of that. Certainly he should be distrusted on immigration, but in the end it failed. He can learn and adjust his position. I don't know whether he will or not. All GOP politicians are susceptible to the GOPe. It is a powerful force. Hopefully, this primary will weaken it.

Lockheed, Pentagon Revive F-35 Block Buy Proposal

Under the block buy plan U.S. and international export orders for three years fiscal 2018 through fiscal 2020 would be bundled together, giving prime contractors and suppliers the incentive to invest in cost-reduction products and more leverage in their own purchases. Savings would be passed on to participating nations.

I was talking to him (he's also on the Cub Scout Pack Committee with me) on Saturday, and he let vent some frustration- The guy had a fairly substantial weapon (I haven't heard the specific kind, but I'm suspecting an AR variant), and (they say) explosive devices.

No one - not a cop, not a civilian - was harmed during the entire thing (with the obvious exception of the crazy bad guy). And he points out, rightly, that this rather important fact will get mentioned maybe once or twice.

She said Rachel is "definitely white."

"She's a young girl who came here really believing in social justice and wanting to make a change in the world," Perkins-Potter said of Rachel's time in Jackson, noting she remembers her interest in and identification with the city's black community.

Then she just has to rely on the MFM (delenda est) for 3.01% more.

Now, she *may* be so spectacularly bad that it makes it impossible for the MFM (delenda est) to get her that 3.01%, but I won't be holding my breath.

------

Point of clarification - the Constitution doesn't prohibit the Pres and VP from being from the same state. Just that the electoral voters of FL would have to vote for at least one person who was not from FL. So practically the same effect - but not that two people from FL can run as Pres and VP.

Lord Eddard Stark is a man of indisputable honour and loyalty. But, as the story is said to go, the noble Lord marries Catelyn Tully and she falls pregnant with his son, Robb. The newly wed then has to embark upon Robert's Rebellion and, during this time period, he casts aside his husbandly duty (such a Ned thing to do) and beds another woman while the mother of his unborn child waits for him at Riverrun. A year after his departure, he returns to Winterfell with an illegitimate bundle of joy. The timing isn't right for Jon to be Ned's son.

Faced with the prospect of ending up in a widely distributed video if an
arrest goes awry, and possibly being indicted, officers tell me that
they are increasingly reluctant to investigate suspicious behavior. St.
Louis police chief Sam Dotson last fall called the relationship between
decreased enforcement and increased crime the "Ferguson effect." I noted
that if it continues the primary victims will be the millions of
law-abiding residents of inner-city neighborhoods who rely on police to
keep order.

And when the mainstream gets around to noticing this it will considered "unexpected" despite being entirely predictable.

Sistah Vegan taught me about true food justice and nutritional racism. For instance, if you're a BU student, look at the posters outside CVS next time you walk past it. One of them shows a young man of African descent drinking cow's milk. This is painfully 'unmindful' as Sistah Vegan editor Breeze Harper has said about a similar ad, considering that 90% of African-Americans are lactose-intolerant.

The thing with a lot of vegetables is that in terms of caloric punch, they are not as good as animal products. So I think a pound of chicken is probably of more value (in terms of energy availability) than a pound of kale.

The administration is funding the program illegally by using a pot of IRS money used for tax refunds, says Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., who leads oversight efforts on the House Ways and Means Committee.

The law authorizes that money can be used for the law's insurance premium subsidies but not for the basic health program, he argues. He says using that funding would require approval from Congress since it is not authorized within the text of the law itself.

620 "As a white person with class privilege, I don't have to worry that veggies are more expensive than meat and cheese."

I can tell you where this crap comes from: "progressives" love to point out that fresh fruit and vegetables are very expensive in the ghetto, if you can find those things there at all, in the tiny corner markets that stock mostly liquor and candy.

The unvoiced reality is that those things are rare and costly in those markets is because ghetto dwellers mostly HAVE NO INTEREST IN BUYING THEM.

A couple of years back in San Francisco, some of the local liberal loons decided that such small markets located in "underserved" areas had to be forced to stock organic produce. It was a disaster for the store owners. The stuff rotted unbought.

Posted by: Y-not at June 15, 2015 11:17 AM (RWGcK)

Most of the people whining about vegetable prices are buying out of season, organic veggies/fruits instead of regular lettuce, spinach, squash, bananas or whatever's on sale. And they try to convince poor people to eat only fresh instead of frozen, despite the fact that frozen is cheaper and often healthier.

Also, cheese is ridiculously expensive now.

Posted by: Lea at June 15, 2015 11:20 AM (lIU4e)

626 The thing with a lot of vegetables is that in terms of caloric punch, they are not as good as animal products. So I think a pound of chicken is probably of more value (in terms of energy availability) than a pound of kale.

True, but if all you can afford is rice and beans and some veggies, that's all you can afford. The way food prices are going up, a poor family has a choice between buying even some cheap crappy hamburger for a few days or a month's worth of rice and beans. An inferior protein source, but that's what life is like when you're poor.

You both make good points.
If a person's goal is to keep their bellies full and their kids' bellies full of nutritious foods on a limited budget, then they'll be eating a lot of rice, beans, pasta, chicken and pork, with some frozen or canned veggies thrown in.

That whole food desert thing is such a scam. If you ever look at your local one, I think I live in a food desert. Everyone in my neighborhood has a car and I could easily walk to Kroger. It's maybe a mile away. Also, the super walmart with a giant grocery store is also a 'food desert'. So, so stupid.

And I've lived in DC without a car and shopped at a tiny Watergate grocery store, which I walked to using a cart. If I wanted to go to a better grocery store I took public transportation.

The ONLY people who can't easily get to a grocery store probably live in the country and all have cars. And they have a dollar general now too.

Gregory of Yardale@ 630, you made me laugh. Well said.

Though I'm not laughing at Will's bizarre column. His implicit premise is that the issue/problem is outrageous populist majoritarian predation on the rights of their fellow citizens? And of course a supreme judiciary is needed to safeguard those rights and the constitution. And that it is right that the courts limit the actions of the legislature?

WTF?

The problem - no, existential crisis, if not past that - has long been quite the opposite. The courts *AS* legislatures, exceeding *THEIR* authorities to rob the citizenry of rights, etc. Predominantly by simply making s**t up - there's no better term for it.

So George, SCOTUS in O-care was limiting the excesses of the legislature? Excuse me? Roberts and the four fascists just rubber-stamped a ludicrous intrusion on the lives of all Americans, which vastly all Congressional authority, and Roberts even "fixed" a glaring unconstitutional flaw by simply creating new federal tax law, ex nihilo. The very textbook example of the courts ruling and legislating, *not* constraining the legislature.

Did Will miss Roberts' stunning, self-beclowning, still literally unbelievable inversion of his duties - that it's not the court's job to protect Americans from the consequences of their electoral choices? Did ol' George somehow not understand that in this outrageous ludicrous statement Roberts was in fact proclaiming the exact opposite of his naive and historically challenged thesis about courts blocking "populist" misbehavior?

My hometown was in a dry county (beer sold only) while I was growing up. If you wanted liquor you had to drive to a package store that was just across the county line. The county council was able to make it "wet" while I was in the Navy and the three major churches in the town were in between pastors. But they did not get liquor by the drink until Red Lobster said they would put a restaurant there but only if they allowed liquor by the drink.

Oh, and George (Will), this coming SCOTUS decision will be yet another example of the silliness of your take on the current problems with the constitutional order. A disastrous, obviously unconstitutional law that has already witnessed mass executive lawlessness (legal and regulatory action by press conference and email, etc.) to avert near-immediate collapse and chaos will now be "saved" (probably) by the court declaring that, you know, the actual obvious unambiguous financial and regulatory structure of an entire federal program can simply be turned upside down by executive fiat, if needed or convenient.

The unambiguous legislative intent (in some cases there is a legitimate challenge in interpreting this, not this time) may simply be ignored, and some pathetic tendentious nonsense proclaimed to, in effect, rewrite the law. Just as Roberts, histrionically and in a way that conveniently identified the clueless bench-sniffers among the judicial commentariat (95%), substantially rewrote the original law to "save" it (which is, apparently, his understanding of the court's role).

786 The prison worker charged with helping two killers escape from an upstate prison is suspected of engaging in a sexual affair with one of the men before the breakout, sources told The Post on Monday.
Authorities believe that married tailor-shop supervisor Joyce Mitchell, 51, romped with inmate David Sweat behind the bars of the maximum-security Clinton Correctional Facility.

795 Larry Bird was truly, truly gifted and magnificent as a basketball player. And what's more, he was not just an athlete or a guy who made great shots, he was a guy who made great plays. In terms of shotmaking and scoring, yeah, definitely Jordan was better. But as an overall total package basketball player? Bird was better. Guys like him and Dr J were players, not just stars.

818 I had the pleasure of seeing Pete Maravich play in a game in Atlanta. The most astonishing ball handling I have ever seen, sometimes even casual. I saw him go up for a right handed layup, the defender blocked it off and he passed the ball from his right hand, behind his head to the left and in, all in one motion. Not the most impressive slamdunk type play but the ease at which it occurred make me blink. The no-look passing was also great.
