Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Fundamental Concepts - Reality [Weirddave]The left has a real problem with reality, and that's never been more apparent than these past few weeks. Bruce Jenner is a real woman, but a conservative like Michelle Malkin isn't. Trans-abled is a thing. A white woman, Rachel Dolezal, is revealed to have been pretending to be black for years, teaching African studies and running a local chapter of the NAACP, and a furious argument breaks out amongst the various victimology groups on the left as to whether she's authentically black or not. I know I'm not alone in just shaking my head at the insanity of it all, even as I'm laughing my ass off at much of it. Congratulations America, you are now a Monty Python skit: Stan: I want to have babies.Reg: You want to have babies?!?! Stan: It's every man's right to have babies if he wants them. Reg: But ... you can't HAVE babies! Stan: Don't you oppress me! Reg: I'm not oppressing you, Stan. You haven't got a womb! Where's the foetus gonna gestate? You gonna keep it in a box? Abraham Lincoln once asked a question, " How many legs does a dog have if you call his tail a leg? " The group he was addressing conferred and came back with an unanimous answer, "Five". Lincoln shook his head and told them. "Gentlemen, the answer is four. Calling a thing by a different name doesn't make it so". The exact provenance and details of the quote are in dispute, it has been claimed that Lincoln used a cow or a sheep as the animal in question, but what is not in dispute is the context. Lincoln was discussing the Emancipation Proclamation, and his point was that simply calling a man free didn't make him free. This is an exceedingly wise fundamental concept that we have to reclaim as a nation or we are finished. More on that in a minute, but first lets look at why. Of all the pathologies that the Left engages in, I know that the inability to simply accept reality as it is is one of the things that can drive conservatives nuts faster than anything else. It's easy to see why, conservative politics are based upon reality and are focused on finding the optimal solution to any given problem, and as such establishing the reality of any given situation is fundamental to the process. Proggy politics are based upon emotion, reality isn't so important as long as the proposed course of action makes them feel good about themselves. The welfare state is a perfect example of this. To a conservative, it's a disaster. Generations of institutionalized poverty and soul crushing dependence on government, the destruction of the nuclear family, cycles of poverty that continuously worsen while costing more and more money every year. They rightly demonstrate that reality proves the welfare state an utter failure and want to change it. To a prog, however, the welfare state is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Crime, poverty, hopelessness, despair and all of the rest of the myriad disasters that come with a modern welfare state....who cares? The welfare state makes them feel good about themselves, and allows them to pat themselves on the back about how “kind” they are, and the best thing is they don't have to do anything themselves to feel this way! THEY don't have to meet any icky poor people. THEY aren't forced to interact with minorities. Let the government do it and observe how benevolent they are, sailing along smugly, secure in their unearned moral superiority. So why should a conservative care? If the left wants to spend it's life in coo-coo fantasy land, let them, right? No skin off of our nose, we'll be over here with a tub of popcorn, pointing and laughing. I would agree, except for three things. Number one, because the left owns academia and the media, their distorted fantasies are constantly promoted as truth. Reality is what it is, and it's impossible to change it, but it can be distorted or obscured until everyone is reacting not to the world as it is but to a world that bears no resemblance to the one we live in. Progs can scream until they are blue in the face about western imperialism and islamophobia and chickens coming home to roost, but the poor unfortunate gay folks that happen to live under the rule of ISIS still accelerate towards the ground at 9.81 m/s squared when the savages throw them off the roof. A world that recognizes this reality instead of pushing a narrative might have a plan to deal with the savages instead of sitting around with their thumb up it looking for ways to blame themselves. Second, denying reality has great potential to be very harmful to individuals. Bruce Jenner claims that he's a woman named Caitlyn. He's demonstrably not, pull down his pants and he's got a dick, test his genes and he has an XY chromosome, but really, who cares? If that's all it was, I'd be inclined to shrug, address him as Caitlyn, and roll my eyes in private. Bruce is a man who is comfortable being treated as a woman. OK, whatever floats his boat. Many years ago I made the acquaintance of one of the very first m-f post op transsexuals. I had no idea when I met her that she was really a he, and when I found out I thought "that's interesting" and proceeded to continue to treat him as a woman, the way she wanted to be treated. Bruce Jenner might turn out to be just like my long ago acquaintance, but then again, he might not. Left unsaid, no, scratch that, aggressively suppressed, is the fact that post operative transsexuals have a suicide rate more than 20 times that of the general population. Twenty. Times. We're told that transsexuals have a mental state that doesn't “agree” with the sex of their body. OK. I accept that. We are also told that the only possible answer to this is surgical mutilation of their bodies. Once their physical appearance matches their mental image, all will be well. Any suggestion to the contrary is met with vicious attack and aggressive accusations of trans hate for opposing the only “effective treatment”. The post op suicide rate is a pretty compelling argument that this just might not be so, but that reality is a fact which may not be spoken. How many people must suffer and perhaps die because of this refusal to recognize the reality? Goth Fonzie had a piece up at Reason this week where he argued that above all else we must strive to make sure that Jenner isn't labeled “mentally ill”. Why? If he truly has a disorder where his mental state doesn't match his physical body, isn't the first step to finding an effective treatment to recognize this unflinchingly? Cancer is a horrifying illness, but in order to treat it you have to admit that you're dealing with it. This refusal to admit reality has real world negative consequences on real flesh and blood people. Finally, most importantly is the impact the refusal to recognize reality has on the language. When people are no longer sure that words mean what they mean, they are very easy to manipulate and control. Language is the tool that defines how we perceive reality and if it is in flux then everything is in flux. This has been a bedrock principle of the left for millennia. Orwell recognized this with “newspeak”. Alinsky emphasizes the importance of this tactic in his Rules for Radicals. Here's an example: infanticide. Who here is in favor of infanticide? How many people do you think you could get to support killing babies? Well, Peter Singer and his sick ilk, but how many others? Not many. However, when you're not “killing a baby”, you're “eliminating a clump of cells” that changes, doesn't it? “Infanticide” becomes “choice”. Murder becomes a medical procedure. Pretty soon you look up and realize that the land of the brave and the home of the free puts 3000 unborn babies to the sword every day. 60 million in 40 years. Baal is green with envy. The concept goes back to the beginning of human history. According to the bible, God stopped the Tower of Babel by controlling the language of mankind. Once communication was impossible, so was cooperation. That's the endgame of the left, that's where this is all headed. A pluralistic Republic requires cooperation between the people living in it. If the Left can destroy that, then they believe that they will be able to impose their communal Utopia. Destroying the language by making it malleable rather than reflective of reality goes a long way towards Balkanizing the people of the United States. What happens next will amaze you! Their Reality gets defined by what advances the Cause.
Michelle Malkin does not advance the cause, therefore, not a Woman. Bruce Jenner does, therefore, a woman. We oppose their Cause, which, no matter what they tells you, is not peace/love/compassion/fairness. It's Power. We do not advance their Cause, therefore, not-people. Common sense? What is "common sense"?
It is (or was) a general consensus of what was normal, acceptable or rational behavior. When normal behavior is more like "when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro" (Hunter Thompson, who was pretty weird), then all bets are off. And then again, most of these anecdotal citations of weirdness are just that. Anecdotes. I don't know if this represents more widespread behavior, or just weird people on Twitter getting their weird on. Posted by: Bossy Conservative....lost in America at June 14, 2015 11:01 AM (+1T7c) 17

If you really want to puke, watch ep 1 of this season of Orange is the New Black. Abortion lowers crime rates, as explained by a lesbian, because bad mothers have abortions - and if those kids were born to bad mothers - they would be criminals. There, everyone feels better - especially those dead kids. A far easier solution you see than maybe growing up and acting like an adult when you are blessed with a child.

None so blind as he who will not see. Then I went looking for bible quotes. This kind of human behavior has been seen before; it's not new. Then the bible quotes went on about faith in the unseen. What I was looking for was the Greek who asked if there was something around us we could not sense with eyes, ears, etc would it still exist? And the Buddhist idea that we create the universe we live in. I loved the movie 'The Matrix' because it is so very Zen, and like all Hollywood movies, they lost their way. Bruce Jenner is a mentally ill man grasping at fame in a mentally ill culture.
Even if he could change all his DNA and his body down to the last cell female, he would still not be a woman; he would merely be a transformed man. A woman is not just her genes and her body, she is those things plus the life she lives. Posted by: eman at June 14, 2015 11:18 AM (MQEz6) 44
Another reason to be concerned about the Progressive vision of reality is that it will come to an end. As Professor Reynolds is wont to quote: "things that can't go on, won't." Reality will assert itself, but by the time that it does and the societal edifice that the false reality is built upon collapses, millions upon millions of people are invested in it, and are hurt. Badly.
To the Left, the individual is an abstraction; a marker for gauging how good I can feel about myself. The destruction of the individual therefore means nothing to the Left. Slaughtering 100-million people is as much of an abstraction to them as the individual is. We could sit back and laugh at the Progressive-Left except that we really do care about the individual. That is, after all, the whole point of striving for individual liberty. Posted by: LCMS Rulz! at June 14, 2015 11:18 AM (TqyFL) 45

Legal abortion would be impossible without 1.) euphemisms, and 2.) keeping it out-of-sight/out-of-mind.
Show a picture of it, and it's "a scare tactic." Trying to stop an abortion while using their rules is like being told, "I want you to teach someone to play the piano. HOWEVER, you are not allowed to say the words 'piano,' 'music,' 'chord,' or 'scale.' You may not show them a picture of a piano, or have one in the room. I think the post-surgery depression/suicide of transsexuals is based on the realization that "I thought I was a woman, but apparently my perception of what that means is skewed. I'm something, but this still isn't it."
And perception is their big problem. So how can they trust their perception of what it means to be a woman? They were a man and they messed that one up, so what makes anyone think they're on target with what a woman is? It's sort of like someone who keeps saying, "I hate this small town! I want to move to the city!" then finds out that the city sucks, too. They've put their happiness in a goal that is idealized and fantasized. Posted by: RKae at June 14, 2015 11:27 AM (VOsE8) 57
Is it because of a childish rebellion against reality, as if reality were God? Is it a fear of confronting reality? One interesting thing is that the worst proggies, like Bill Clinton, Obummer and DiBlasio all seem to have daddy issues. And let's not over simplify the taxonomy. There are guilt ridden delusional libprogs who (think they) mean well, and then there are sociopathic con men like Hillary, who act only for the sake of short term, personal benefit.

This isn't the book thread, but two bits by Chesterton that apply: Orthodoxy Chapters 2-3, "The Maniac" and "The Suicide of Thought," and the chapter in St. Thomas Aquinas where he discusses Thomist philosophy and points out that if one rejects the notion of objective reality outside the self that can be known, rational thought can't go anywhere.

The welfare state makes them feel good about themselves, and allows them to pat themselves on the back about how kind they are, and the best thing is they don't have to do anything themselves to feel this way!
*** I disagree. While the smug self congratulations for doing next to nothing is a bonus, this is not the primary reason that the left routinely ignores reality. The larger reason is that the Left, or more specifically a plurality among those who control it, believe that you can effect reality by thoughts. It is not exactly that the Left sees the failures the welfare state visits on the poor and doesn't care. Instead the Left believes that if we all believed it was working...it would. The problem we face is not that the left is unhappy with reality, its that they're slouching into a sort of mob madness that makes them think their version of reality is true, against all possible truth and reality. I used to think they'd bash their faces against the cold hard wall of reality enough to stop after a while but that's just not the case.
Most of the reason that the left pushes for all these special snowflake rules and cultural changes is so the wall is padded. What I mean is this: getting rid of competition, awarding a prize for leaving the 5th grade, giving away participation trophies, removing references that "trigger" people, on and on... all of that is part of a campaign to make the world stop seeming to disagree with them. If you can force everyone around you to accept or at least pretend to accept your madness and resculpt everything to fit its shape, then your madness won't seem so crazy any more. In the story of the emperor's new clothes, that little boy shocks everyone into admitting the truth. But what if the kid was dragged of and beaten then sent to classes to reeducate him while everyone around him insisted those clothes were great despite knowing otherwise? What if you managed to form a society, assisted heavily by a social media echo chamber, which despite having someone point out the new clothes, people clung to the lie out of social pressure, rules, fear, and shame? What if the people in charge of fashion and cultural popularity started selling nudity, so that it became "cool" despite everyone knowing it was insane? All so that the crazy can feel at home and not persecuted or odd. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at June 14, 2015 11:35 AM (39g3+) 86

This is true. They subscribe to exactly the same "will to power" philosophy as the Nazis. They believe nietzsche's idea that there is no absolute truth, reality, or meaning, and that the world is only what we make of it. Actually, it's partly true: "Most of the cases fell into one of two quite different groups. One group consisted of conflicted and guilt-ridden homosexual men who saw a sex-change as a way to resolve their conflicts over homosexuality by allowing them to behave sexually as females with men. The other group, mostly older men, consisted of heterosexual (and some bisexual) males who found intense sexual arousal in cross-dressing as females. As they had grown older, they had become eager to add more verisimilitude to their costumes and either sought or had suggested to them a surgical transformation that would include breast implants, penile amputation, and pelvic reconstruction to resemble a woman." A lot of the ideas they had were actually pretty good; a money system based on 10s, the metric system of measurement, etc. But it was too many fundamental changes at once and nobody really could handle it all at once. Within a few years, the French abandoned their new calendar and clock but they kept the metric system and decimal coins. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at June 14, 2015 11:55 AM (39g3+) Reposted from the ONT: 585 I was reading the comments at Instapundit's post about the metric system. It's an interesting discussion. While metric is undoubtedly useful for science, traditional measuring systems evolved organically to meet human needs and were not imposed from the top down. One commenter hit it out of the ballpark: "But the fact is that the metric system had its origins in the violence and terror of the French Revolution, not merely as a byproduct of social and political upheaval--for which it might otherwise be forgiven--but as a deliberate, conscious effort by the most radical of the radicals to completely destroy the fabric of human history and civilization and remake it in their image. Metric was not designed for convenience, but as part and parcel of an explicit attempt to erase man as he was and recreate a new, scientific, rational man who could march into the future unrestrained by the shackles of his own past. And the philosophical heirs to the French Revolution have, onto this very day, continued to push for its universal mandatory adoption. It is, in a very real sense, just another tool in the modern totalitarian's toolbox--and most people don't even know it." An Orwellian purpose to the Cultural Marxism and Moral Relativism is that its dehumanizing.
If gender is fluid, people can be remade. You can be malleable. Establishing that nothing is any one thing means everything can be anything. Once that is established, denying personal say in the matter is the only thing left for a totalitarian to achieve. Posted by: Pappy O'Daniel at June 14, 2015 11:42 AM (oVJmc) There's a good reason the Left adopts this "malleability" posture: it is vital to their theoretical framework. The knock on Marxism (and socialism generally) is that it's counter to human nature. The Left's response is that human nature is malleable (the tabula rasa); what we think of as human nature is actually learned behavior, and when they impose socialism, they'll create New Socialist Man, for whom socialism will work. That's why the Left is so invested in this malleability notion. If it were definitively refuted, their whole intellectual edifice would collapse. from the Mises site in this same vein:
The attack on reality is from the idea there is no objective reality, that reality can be transformed by the sole wish of human beings. Ludwig von Mises snarked on this idea that: all harmful beasts will have disappeared, and in their places will be animals which will assist man in his labors-or even do his work for him. An antibeaver will see to the fishing; an antiwhale will move sailing ships in a calm; an antihippopotamus will tow the river boats. Instead of the lion there will be an antilion, a steed of wonderful swiftness, upon whose back the rider will sit as comfortably as in a well-sprung carriage. It will be a pleasure to live in a world with such servants. http://preview.tinyurl.com/pb32vuo Posted by: Kindltot at June 14, 2015 12:11 PM (3pRHP) 182

>>So roughly 1:10,000 is a tranny? That's fewer than people who still play ADD first edition.
Again, depends a bit on how you define the term, and whose numbers you're looking at. One large UCLA based study extrapolates 700,000 transgendered individuals in the USA. If true, that would make the prevalence about 0.2%, or one individual in 500. I don't know the truth, but you can see the study here: http://tinyurl.com/87vkgmz I'd add that there is also some debate about what constitutes a trans-sexual. IE, if you're an adult man who always secretly dreamed about being a woman. . .but if you never dress like a woman, act like a woman, or take any steps to alter your gender or identity, are you a trans-sexual? Are you a trans-sexual if you merely identify as one? (I think that's what the study in question asked). The advocacy groups would say if you say you are, you are, but I don't think most other people would accept that definition. Posted by: looking closely at June 14, 2015 12:12 PM (hoiM7) 187

The other problem with the notion that RvW being responsible for lower crime rates, is that it's not just pre-crime, but it's a death sentence for car theft, assault, etc. === I think what you're saying here is that assuming its true that legalized abortion reduces crime rates that doesn't necessarily mean its "worth it". Again, I don't know anyone (except maybe that fictional character in OITNB) who is actually making the argument that abortion should be legal specifically *because* it reduces crime. Those who do believe this just think its one "side benefit" of legality. Obviously there are other ways to reduce crime, and other alternatives to abortion. It is true that starting out by making one form of sexual deviancy and mental illness not just acceptable but endorsed by society has led to one, and another, and another. The problem isn't so much with each deviancy, its the arguments used. The same arguments used for the one apply to each, with the cascading effect we're seeing. Each time conservatives stand up and say "no, look, this is not going to end well!" and each time, even fellow conservatives attack them for it.
And each time, once the new perversion is pushed far enough, even many on the right start buying into the lunacy for their own reasons and attack those who say "this was too far." And the cycle repeats until finally we'll get to a point when its gone too far, but how do we get back? Posted by: Christopher Taylor at June 14, 2015 12:26 PM (39g3+) 230

Recall that Nixon nailed Alger Hiss, and had him dead to rights as a Communist agent. After that, the left and the media (BIRM) had the long knives out for him.
It wasn't his fault that the Democrats won big in 1974 and sold out the Vietnamese people. That blame falls squarely on the media. Keep in mind that Nixon and his aides believed that there was a Communist revolution going on in America in the late 60s and early 70s, and they thought that justified their actions. In hindsight, that turned out to be largely true. The "peace movement" was funded by the KGB. Whatever his flaws, Nixon was a choirboy compared to Clinton and Obama. Richard Nixon:
His mother (who was by no means a wealthy woman, say, like Rose Fitz Kennedy) had her IRS returns audited for 1961, 62 and 63. After LBJ became President, that stopped. Richard Nixon's speech after the loss of the 1962 Governor's race was more of a satire and sarcasm, as he and the press were actually laughing about it. Richard Nixon originally had no idea what was done in "his name" with regards to the John Dean inspired break in of the DNC office in the Watergate building. To steal a call girls' address book that had John Dean's name in it. A women he later married. And he was later lied to by his staff about what happened. And we have been largely lied to about this historically. I would bet not one in one hundred actually can get all the facts straight in re-telling the story. Nixon later attributed the real reason that he was run out of office was because he took the country off the Gold standard. To paraphrase him; I handed my enemies a knife, and they did not hesitate to use it. Nixon was and remains, like Joe McCarthy (who was friends with Joe Kennedy, Sr.) a bogey man that the Left will routinely trot out to scare the children into voting Democrat. We don't have elections anymore; it's a combination of voting for your Senior Class president, Prom Queen and Halloween trick or treat. Well, if she's being an effective advocate for the victim, then having her removed as that advocate could help her brother. More generally speaking, intra-family disputes aren't always rational. The parents likely feel that their daughter is not only "cuckoo", but (perhaps with some justification) has now turned against them. So "outing" her could be both their way of getting back at her, and "helping" her. It doesn't necessarily have to be about helping her brother. " Each time conservatives stand up and say "no, look, this is not going to end well!" and each time, even fellow conservatives attack them for it."
the goal of the left is first and foremost silence dissent. Yesterday it was in the Gulags, today it is in the digital gulags of social media. Both forced people out of the workplace (I read recently that Brendan Eich is still unemployed today... I believe he is well off, but to think that nobody will ever hire him is ludicrous), shunned by family members and the community. If conservatives claim to be so more intelligent why they fell for this cheap trick and supported faggot marriage? It was the beginning of the end and it was clear as the sun. They (the left) were not only emboldened by their own stupidity, but also by the fact that a percentage of the opponents actually agreed with them to lead the lambs to the slaughter. Leftists need to be opposed always and forever, even when they say 'the sky is blue'. Cut your tongue before agreeing with a leftist. Posted by: fromabroad at June 14, 2015 12:45 PM (rnV3B) 271

You're fundamentally right, but I think you're trying to inject a level of rationality here into what's probably an emotional response. I could see a knee-jerk response by some individuals to side with anyone working for the NAACP against any sort of outside "attack". If we assume that despite the race pretension, that this woman has actually done a good job (whatever that constitutes), then I could see individuals from the local Black community defending her, viewing attacks against her as "racist" (ie attacks against them). Its just simple tribalism. It doesn't necessarily make sense, but so long as some people see her as one of "theirs" they'll defend her, even if it isn't strictly true. Every Google result leads to some LGBTSQXX source with an ax to grind, specifically that we should all be nicer to trannies and they'll stop killing themselves. It's a propaganda stat. I've known more than a couple trannies -- maybe 40 - 50 or so, I led a transition support group for two years -- and I don't know anybody who attempted suicide that I was aware of. I mean yeah, it's a hard life. So is coal miner. Finally, a suggestion: Dave, I know you have a few lib friends. The fact that despite a continual life of ignoring the law and blatantly defying all law enforcement she's not only free but has never even been arrested is a frankly stunning achievement. Posted by: Christopher Taylor at June 14, 2015 12:51 PM (39g3+) 289

Posted by: Jay Guevara FDR and JFK (fer shure) and probably Truman also used the IRS to go after and harass their political opponents. This is nothing new. He was impeached for a whole list of things, some true, some exaggerations. Whether the Senate would have convicted him is anybody's guess, but Barry Goldwater went up to the White House and told him he didn't have the support of most Republicans (because they were all afraid of losing their jobs, huhuhuhuh). It was a different time, and if you were not born or were not politically aware in those years, it is hard to relate. There were no independent sources of news or opinion. National Review and Firing Line (on PBS) was about the only thing that would deviate from the accepted line. Going back and re-reading those old copies of NR (if you can get your hands on them) makes Bill Buckley look extremely prescient, in many cases. But that was NOT the prevailing wisdom of the times, and the Mainstream Media would ridicule Buckley when prompted. There were the three networks + the nascent PBS (in lock step) and the major new sources (NY Times, Washington Post, WSJ, AP, UPI, etc). There could be no peasants with pitchforks (and sending an avalanche of emails) to Congress. Nixon did a lot of shit that wasn't choir boy stuff, but none of these guys were clean. He was hated and villified by the press constantly, and political cartoons always made him look bad with a 5 o'çlock shadow. That's a consistent line of propaganda there, pals. We didn't know the media were heavily leftist; Walter Cronkite (/spit) was "the most trusted man in America," and only now do we know he was a flaming leftist. We had limited sources of information and all were Red-controlled, as we now know. Someone could win an argument merely by citing an NYT, WaPo, or TIME magazine article; that was considered dispositive then. No internet, no talk radio, no nothing. National Review was considered to be quasi-lunatic fringe/ John Bircher territory. Totally different time. Posted by: Jay Guevara at June 14, 2015 01:07 PM (oKE6c) 318

Koppel got manipulated by some of the Iranians he interviewed (that were part of the government), as he had no real idea of what was going on behind the scenes (in Iran). The sins of JFK and LBJ were worse and did more lasting damage than ANYTHING Nixon did.
Posted by: JoeF. at June 14, 2015 12:37 PM (6OCqa) I now see JFK as a Celtic version of Obama: a historic (i.e., not worth a shit) President, light years over his head, who stumbled, bumbled, and farted his way through his term until he got smoked. He came kissing close to getting us all made into radioactive glass by impressing Khruschev as a callow, feckless pretty boy (which he was). He was a lifelong bungler who came very close to getting court-martialed by the Navy for the PT 109 clusterfcuk, holding the dubious distinction of being the skipper of the only PT boat in naval history to get run down by a warship. Jay Guevara:
I'm with ya! JFK was an irresponsible dick. He's legendary for being dead (just Buddy Holly syndrome). He was sleeping with an East German spy, and if he was assassinated by his own people for that security breach, I can thoroughly understand. Maybe the conspiracy to off him was completely necessary. True. Carter didn't help himself by saying stupid
crap, such as that he wouldn't come out of the Rose Garden (IIRC) until the hostages were released, and that he'd committed "adultery in his mind." Seriously, Jimmah, you were President of the United States, not of the senior class. Posted by: Jay Guevara at June 14, 2015 01:18 PM (oKE6c) The killer rabbit, brother Billy, it went on an on. He wasn't off limits as Prezzy Perfect is. The MFM started to close ranks for Slick Willie. He should have been run out of office but between the economy and the MFM laughing off any scandals he had, Slick got a free ride. Posted by: TheQuietMan at June 14, 2015 01:28 PM (DiZBp) 347
Finally, a suggestion: Dave, I know you have a few lib friends. In the
interest of a more honest dialog I'd love for you to run this weekly column by them prior to posting to see if they agree with your characterizations of their position. I suspect they may not, which means we're misrepresenting the opposition just to feel better about ourselves. I.e. we're just substituting their propaganda with our propaganda. I will consider it, but I was a lib myself for years and years, so I'm pretty familiar with the lunacy. Posted by: Weirddave at June 14, 2015 01:32 PM (WvS3w) 348
Didnt Carter and his wife attend Arafat's funeral or go lay a wreath on his tomb? This asshole was heard ordering the murders of US consulate staff besides the many acts of terrorism he is responsible before. Posted by: Bruce With a Wang! at June 14, 2015 01:33 PM (iQIUe) 349

344, you're alluding to Kennedy being the first Catholic president and you are correct, but except for places like Boston or New York, that aspect was played down, and it was Protestant ministers that played that up. It wasnt a media event like obama. Still, this is why I dont buy conspiracy theories that Kennedy was killed by the CIA or any of that bullshit. He was assassinated one year before he was up for re-election, and any single one of his affairs or daliances with secrataries or spies ----if leaked--would have sunk his re-election chances--ESPECIALLY with Catholic voters. The country was different in 1963. There was no need to blow his brains out in public.

When people are no longer sure that words mean what they mean, they are very easy to manipulate and control.

I could agree completely with this IF it mentioned that the right can be victim to language tricky roos and people running the magickal thinking scam too; they can be made just as useful a bunch of little Alinsky apparatchiks. There is not one group that cannot be made so, because: human nature.
The left just has a head start and thus more practice; they have made it their special provenance and are the smug, comfortable owners of that particular snake skin, but they are not the soul proprietors -- so don't ever say "it could never happen to us." It already has. And the true patriotic citizen of the republic says "never" both as an acknowledgement of reality and as a vow to fight it for the threat it is...all else is tribalism and balkanization...all else is proof of a republic only if citizens can keep it and Machiavelli's sad admittance, which I'm afraid that these as well as that picture are not far off in our future. Although I still have hope. Posted by: unknown j. at June 14, 2015 01:53 PM (0EjYp) Posted by: Joe Biden at June 14, 2015 02:31 PM (TV9BR) 354

Left unsaid, no, scratch that, aggressively suppressed, is the fact that
post operative transsexuals have a suicide rate more than 20 times that of the general population. Twenty. Times. They pull the plug when finally realize they were lied to and there is no getting their penis back. Cutting off their penis and making a new hole will not make them happy if they never have been happy before. Posted by: Heh at June 14, 2015 06:09 PM (M9dlv) 362
