1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, June 13, 2015. On this day in 1971 the New York Times began the publication of the Pentagon Papers. These were classified papers that had been stolen by Daniel Ellsberg who was later prosecuted and released because of illegal wiretaps. This is hailed by liberals as a great blow to government actions and a win for freedom of the press. They neglect the fact that these papers were not just classified because of political reasons. Released along with those papers were the names of covert undercover agents who were subsequently terminated. Another fact about this ruling that is greatly misunderstood is that the public now thinks newspapers can publish anything they can get their hands on. All this ruling did was make the government go to court and demonstrate why publishing something would be harmful to national security. Although difficult in most cases because they would have to release even more classified information in court, it can still be done.

2 CA is ordering a massive cut in water use by so-called senior water rights farmers. Some who say they are cutting their use by 100%. Interesting in this article is something I have been saying all along. CA has always had periodic serious droughts. This is nothing new. What is new is a huge population of legal and illegal migrants from Mexico who are swelling the use of water. Without this increase in migrants from South of the border CA would have actually lost population. (more on this "drought" later)

9 Big business not happy that the Obama trade bill was halted yesterday. That includes big pharma. Meanwhile generic drug makers are happy. Big business is why the RNCe is all over this pact with Obama. So the RNCe is all over amnesty and Obamatrade to satisfy their major bribers and they do not give a shit for their voters. Somebody needs to tell them that all the money in the world will not buy them votes when they piss off everybody in their Party.

As I have said all along on this issue, there are no good guys in this fight. If we are going to fund we should fund both sides and let them kill themselves off.

One bag blew up the second the robot touched it. Still a standoff. Also, reports that the fire alarms in the police station went off so the cops were outside when this happened.

Despite Cruz and Walker supporting this bill - which is dead wrong - if either were prexy, I would want them to have actual free trade authority to help grow the economy. They can be trusted with this sort of power.

Wait 18 months to vote for this. And the only caveat is actually disclosing the full contents of the bill so as to eviscerate the amnesty and other nasty bits.

But for now, Cruz and Walker are way off base for supporting this.

That would be fine IF it is real free trade. We haven't made a deal in the past 30+ years that was real free trade. We get screwed every damn time. This one is not difference and that isn't even including the BS that has NOTHING at all to do with trade in it.

4) Glad it's mortally wounded if not dead.

CA is not ruled by an oligarchy of communist Democrats and a useless go-along Republican Party. They hate farmers. The whole State is controlled by the voters that live in the seaboard corridor who are the overwhelming majority of the State and who are overwhelmingly Democrat.
Thanks to them all of the productive workers and a LOT of the businesses are abandoning the State. Soon there will be nothing left but the FSA and CA will become an entire State based on the Detroit model.

48 The trade deal is not dead, not even mostly dead, or even partly dead. It's resting and will be back Tuesday for another vote, and it will pass this time.

It's a union negotiating tactic. No agreement until the company has been shut down for a period of time to teach management a lesson, give the employees a much needed vacation, and give negotiators time to make more demands. The company will cave in to those demands and a contract will be signed.

The company knows it will happen. The union thinks they are getting something extra, and the union members think the union held the company up for more ransom.

Or will the state have to pay compensation to the rights holders for a 'taking' of those property rights under the constitution?

I am not sure what the "legalities" of those senior water rights were. The article didn't give a lot of info other than they were people who had property next to rivers and streams from way back during the "western days" when water rights were something that caused shooting wars.

In those days water rights were actually deeded so there may be some legality there.

Some of the agricultural states like Iowa, Indiana you catch hell from the neighbors if you let weeds grow along the road, 'cuz they propagate into the fields.

At certain times of year -- mainly Fall, I think -- the weather can be wonderful, brisk, clear and refreshing. Lets one take a good look around and enjoy some stunning architecture.

Coffee and danish, a stop at Rizzoli, prowling the streets and ending up having a martini at the bar in Grand Central Station before taking the train home? Ya can't beat it.

My next door neighbor bought an electric golf cart a couple of years ago. I had told him to avoid electric for that very reason when he asked for an opinion. After he bough electric I said why. He said it was cheap. I told him to wait until he had to replace the batteries.

Well he skated out of that. They let the 4 year old drive it all the time until he ran it into a tree and bent the front right axle into a pretzel. It is now sitting in the woods behind their shed waiting to be fixed.

No idea what to do about this. It's such a huge, giant, awful problem.

One thing that occurred to me last night: I'm going to explain a little of it to the kids and make the point that they shouldn't trust a stranger, even if that person knows a lot about us.

Knowing a lot about us is no longer proof that someone is close to us.

202 California screwed themselves several years ago when the state legislature voted in a systematic permanent democrat majority. I don't remember all.the details but it was political suicide for the opposition. It is truly (and permanently) one party rule. It would take the majority to change this and the dems aren't going to vote themselves out of power. This is why we're seeing accelerated fascist destruction there. Although it was always tough.....even when Reagan was the governor. ....it wasn't like it is now. It will take a major catastrophe to right the situation.

212 Gotta go over into Boulder today. The nation of empowered pedestrians and bicyclists.

You make one tiny move with your vehicle that they consider wrong, and you get yelled at, stared at, fingered, and maybe even thrown at with a projectile.

Back out of a parking space at Whole Foods? Very likely some asshole walking a cart nearby will bellow out something in your direction.

Stop for a pedestrian at one of the crosswalks? You did not stop politely enough. You are too close to their space. You get the finger.

I'm going on the motorcycle. Get a little more respect that way, and I have better visibility.

On the paved outlying roads in the county, speed limits 45 to 55, the cyclists will be four abreast and they do not move over. You simply have to wait for a clear oncoming lane so you can pass them. And the pass is over a double center line.

The problem is, we shouldn't let "we trust *this* president" be a standard for legislation. It should be "can we trust *any* President". And frankly, the show must go on, and any "fast track" deals still have Congressional review. This guy can't do too much damage with it.

As far as things go, I think just the TPA going back to the Senate is really the best of all worlds for Republicans. Barky is so humiliated right now he would sign just that in order to declare any win. Republicans may have backed into an "everybody else loses" situation, but I'll take it.
