ANKARA - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday accused the West of bombing Arabs and Turkmens in Syria while supporting Kurdish "terrorist" groups which he said were taking their place.
Moderate Syrian rebels and Kurdish forces have been fighting Islamic State insurgents holding the Syrian border town of Tel Abyad in recent days, sending thousands of people fleeing to Turkey. Turkey is uncomfortable with gains by Kurdish YPG forces in Syria, saying they have links with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has fought a decades-long insurgency against the Turkish state. Erdogan has also questioned the effectiveness of bombing raids by a US-led coalition aimed at degrading Islamic State. @14
I've already contacted my representatives on multiple locations, they simply don't give a shit about what we say or want. I recently contacted my rep and asked him these direct questions. 1) have you read the trade bill in part or full? 2) how do you plan on voting? 3) will you ensure that the citizens you represent see the full text of the bills before the final vote? Here is his bullshit response, see how many problems you can spot. Also that sneaky little shit Paul Ryan has his stink all over this. Dear Mr. xxxx: Thank you for contacting me to express your concern about current negotiations for a Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact. I appreciate having the benefits of your views. As you may know, the Obama Administration is currently negotiating a free trade agreement known as the TPP with eleven other nations: New Zealand, Canada, Chile, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, Peru, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mexico and Japan. These negotiations are ongoing and are led by our U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Ambassador Michael Froman, who was appointed by the President. Recently, Rep. Paul Ryan (WI), Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee has introduced H.R. 1890, the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act. This bipartisan, bicameral legislation will increase Congressional oversight and bring more transparency to the process. In addition, this bill will give the Administration over 150 negotiating objectives, from reducing currency manipulation to protecting intellectual property, which must be included in any trade deal. Finally, if signed into law, this legislation affirms that Congress must ratify any trade agreement before it can take force. On April 23, the House Ways and Means Committee approved H.R. 1890 by a vote of 25 to 13. Please know that I will keep your concerns in mind as Congress continues to work on these important issues. Again, thank you for contacting me. Sincerely, Rodney Frelinghuysen Member of Congress Posted by: Kreplach at June 11, 2015 08:00 AM (VRdqG) 45

Russian media is whipping up fear about a potential nuclear attack by the United States - and it's all thanks to a prank video featuring confused people in San Diego.
The video at the center of the nuclear fear-mongering features Americans allegedly signing a petition to annihilate Russia. Mark Dice, a conspiracy theorist and activist, produced the video. It shows him approaching passers-by in San Diego, asking them to support a plan by President Obama to nuke Russia in order to keep America the world's leading superpower…. http://bit.ly/dice-nuke-russ Here's the video: https://youtu.be/CNr5czZKEdk Dice meets with the usual pathetic sheep who probably don't even know what "pre-emptive" means if they were even listening to him at all. Lt.-Gen. Michael Flynn, who led the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency until last August, told a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on Wednesday that trusting Iran's mullahs to abandon their nuclear ambitions is "wishful thinking." "Iran has every intention to build a nuclear weapon," he argued. "It is clear that the nuclear deal is not a permanent fix but merely a placeholder."
Flynn insisted: "The notion of 'snap back' sanctions is fiction. The Iranian regime is already more economically stable than it was in November of 2013." He added that international inspectors are slated to only have "'managed access' to nuclear facilities, and only with significant prior notification." I think my problem with Hannity is everything is so over-dramatic. I loved Hannity and Colmes. And, his personality worked because they would go back and forth, attacking and defending.
His personality has carried over to his solo show, but it just feels weird with him being so combative and defensive, with no one there to be that way with, and to me, it just doesn't work. And, if he had guests on like O'Reilly does, people with differing view points, it would work a little better. He does to a small degree, but for the most part, his guests are people with his exact same ideology and political frame of mind, and his questions are always leading, prodding, and "This is my opinion...tell me how right I am?" Christopher Lee's death reminds me of the early 60s when we would often go to see the Saturday afternoon matinee at the theater for all of 25 cents. We had to walk there and would take a shortcut through the local Methodist Church's old graveyard that dated back to the revolutionary war to the theater downtown. It was an experience walking back near sundown through that old graveyard after watching one of his films.

I know that they all expect to be even richer as a result of their selling out the country, but I cannot understand how they think this will be a good country to live in after they've destroyed its social fabric, its customs, and its industrial base.
They would do well to remember that even gated communities can have barbarians at the gates! TPP is another Event towards the world war that is brewing.
Look towards the Phillipines. China is building out there, claiming territory and projecting power right smack in the middle of major trade routes that extend from the middle east to the west coast of the USA. If they can capture the South China sea they can strangle that trade and cut off Japan altogether, who is one of their major regional rivals and the only one who can stop them, regionally speaking. TPP, I believe, is an effort to counter that without projecting military power, or to set the table for the projection of military power in the region on a cooperative basis. Japan and the USA need to have ASW assets in the Phillipines ASAP. I don't think we'll do that, though. Posted by: Bigby's Snapping Fingers at June 11, 2015 08:51 AM (3ZtZW) 219

She has decided to stay with me, but occasionally she tells me she isn't sure if she can be married to a woman. On the other hand, she says she doesn't want to have to share custody of our children. I have urged her to talk to a therapist, because she gets a few free sessions from her job. Because she doesn't like people knowing about her problems, she steadfastly refuses. I'm not sure what else to do. What you heard of "no taxation w/o representation" was actually much worse. Farmers and colonists had to pay those British taxes in gold which was in extreme short supply in the colonies where barter or paper money was most often used. So when a farmer could not come up with gold to pay his taxes his land would be confiscated and sold act auction, most often to wealthy merchants. It doesn't take a lot of that before people start getting pissed off. Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at June 11, 2015 08:55 AM (GpgJl) 231

so the Today Show they have this "thing" in associate with Dateline they tak teenagers and put them in fake situations with actors, and are filmed and their parents show how their children react so this is the set up a boy they just met took a picture of a girl they just met when she was changing clothes, without the girls knowledge the test is to see what the other girls, and they were all girls, do they tell him to erase the picture then they find an excuse to talk to the girl privately and come up with a ruse for her to take the guys phone and erase the picture herself next time, they have a different set up in it, an obviously impaired or intoxicated girl will appear be "taken advantage of" by a boy or group of boys this is sick so the set up is Posted by: ThunderB at June 11, 2015 09:07 AM (zOTsN) 277

I'm a kind-of expert on big bands. When my mom was an elevator operator at the Commodore, she knew Les Brown pretty well. She wouldn't say how well.
Laurie Johnson (that's a man, baby) did the original Avengers theme, and is still alive, aged 97 or so. Johnny Knorr played with Artie Shaw, then led his own big band for 50 years, playing regionals like the Grand Hotel Mackinac. He lived to 90, led the band right to the end. The band will shut down after this season, having outlived the bandleader by five years. They outlasted the 555th ANG band, and with no federal budget either. I saw to it that my kid became a major Maynard Ferguson fan. That guy was an absolute killer -- still "had it" at age 75. And then, he died. Serious question here. Do you think, in our lifetime, we will see the abolition of genders?
Meaning, no genders on forms, on birth certificates. Sections not marked at department stores. Not sure what it will do with public restrooms. And so on and so forth. I'm not talking about this hippie dippie, "You are what you feel you are" stuff. I mean a legitimate removal of gender from society. Posted by: TickledPink at June 11, 2015 09:11 AM (RLFFI) 283

mrp: "Where does Ted Cruz stand on this TPP EU-style deal?"
He's fer it. I've removed him from top tier and quit sending in donations to his campaign. Not just because of this issue but because of his immigration policy which seems "tough" but is actually expansive once the border is "secure." Immigration policy is my line in the sand. Amnesty, border and internal non-enforcement, and expansion of H1-B and legal immigration are no go zones for me. Support any of that and you simply cannot get my support or vote. But I digress. LoneStarHeeb: "Wouldn't it be something if the TPP became the uniting thing for both parties to finally see that it's time to start over?"
Yeah, that's my hope, too. And paradoxically here, that's the benefit of divided government. There's the slim chance that politics will keep both sides in opposition so that the worst stuff doesn't pass. Alas, we're in an age where it's really a single party system of Statists. Maybe, in this case, half the crowd that doesn't like their oxes being gored can ward off the butchers. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at June 11, 2015 09:20 AM (1CroS) 289

Support any of that and you simply cannot get my support or vote. ========= This leads me to one of my head-shaking moments. Dems are idiots when it comes to immigration policy. Do they understand how immigrants - illegal as well as the legal type - who have been in this country more than three years feel about the newcomers hopping over the border? They are actually trending pro-control, because after practically taking over the craft trades (at least in NC), their biggest labor competition are their fellow travellers. Posted by: mrp at June 11, 2015 09:21 AM (JBggj) 290
I know in my rural area, there has been an influx of illegal immigrants from Haiti, actually taking away jobs from the Hispanics.
The problem is the Haitians have brought TB with them from their travels, and there has been a (contained) outbreak of TB. Now, these people keep mostly to themselves. But, the kids use our public schools and public school transportation. At this point, it is a health and safety issue. Posted by: TickledPink at June 11, 2015 09:25 AM (RLFFI) 291
mrp: "Do they understand how immigrants - illegal as well as the legal type - who have been in this country more than three years feel about the newcomers hopping over the border?"
So they don't like losing jobs and wages either along with subsidizing illegals? Huh. Go figure. Lawless nations are tishholes. Who in their right mind wants to live in one... and yet we are importing by the millions entire cultures that will bring such inherited belief systems (along with countless other issues) and expecting different results with the passage of time. "America" is not inevitable in perpetuity. We are watching its destruction and a government that is hell bent on enabling that. Posted by: AnonymousDrivel at June 11, 2015 09:29 AM (1CroS) 292

What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall as ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? After all, you knew ahead of time that those bluecaps were out at night for no good purpose. And you could be sure ahead of time that you'd be cracking the skull of a cutthroat.
