2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, June 05, 2015. On this day in 1933 congress effectively nullified the gold standard in the US by nullifying the right of creditors to demand payment in gold or to redeem federal reserve notes in gold. Six months later in January they completed the trashing of the money by making it illegal to own gold and FDR devalued the dollar by setting the worth of the dollar by how much his bunions ached in the morning. (a little exaggeration but not far from the truth). This is why when you look at the Shorpy pics of small stores prior to the 40s you will find prices so low.

36 The IRS continues to be a political organization controlled by Democrats.

The IRS responded to a Republican request for an investigation into the Clinton Foundation's tax-exempt status with a one-page form letter that starts with "Dear Sir or Madam."

In May, more than 50 House Republicans asked the IRS to review the Clinton Foundation's tax-exempt status, after it became clear that the foundation had failed to report millions of dollars in grants from foreign governments.

Sadly, even a flat tax would not eliminate the IRS. What needs to happen is repeal of the 16th Amendment and abolishment of the IRS in total. The return to taxation solely to the States and tariffs. The government can get money from the States who will tax as they see fit and they can sell off the huge amounts of land that they have stolen from States.

57 I was going to ask what the Chinese expect to gain by hacking the fed worker files.

I hadn't thought of security clearances.

But so what? Don't they already get everything they want for the asking?

It's like robbing from the store you own. What's the point?

And as far as Taiwan goes? Somehow I don't think they're all that worried about a response from Obama.

If he's not gonna get worked up over the Ukraine then a spit in the ocean isn't going to be much concern. They're all Chinese right? And don't they really control it now anyway? Just like Hong Kong. Potemkin democracy's.

I'm not so worried about China anymore as I used to be. They're already taking the top spot economically and militarily. They've got enough money to buy anything they want from anyone anywhere. They're conspiring with Putin to switch the currencies business is done in.

We're on the downside of the roller coaster. All we can do is hang on and scream.

60 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Thanks for the news, Vic.

The 1979 movie All That Jazz was a fictionalized account of the life of Broadway choreographer - director Bob Fosse, told from the viewpoint of Fosse recalling his career as he underwent emergency quadruple bypass surgery.

In real life, on the eve of his surgery, Fosse had his will drawn up and asked the playwrights Herb Gardner (A Thousand Clowns, I'm Not Rappaport) and Paddy Chayefsky (Marty, Network) to witness it. Gardner signed the will without even reading it, but Chayefsky insisted on plowing through all of its thirty-odd pages.

When he finished, Chayefsky looked at Fosse bemusedly. "But I'm not even mentioned in the will."

A heavily sedated Fosse smiled weakly and nodded.

"Fuck you!" Chayefsky shouted, throwing the will to the floor. "Live!"

Here's Jessica Lange as "Angelique," the angel of death in ATJ:

http://goo.gl/3G4adz

Now, the weekly Ziegfeld Girl, Dorothy Knapp:

http://goo.gl/45D4f8

She starred in the Follies of 1924, gaining the title of "The American Venus" and then hit the stage again in the 1925 Follies with Louise Brooks. In late 1925 the producer Earl Carroll hired her to star in his Vanities of 1926. Though not lovers, Knapp and Carroll had great affection for each other, Knapp visiting the showman in federal prison where he was serving time for violating Prohibition as well as for, supposedly, featuring a nude dancer at a 1927 birthday party in his theater.

During the early 1930s, Knapp turned to radio, broacasting on NBC and later marrying the announcer Jack Edmonds.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Yes, but remember, the reason for Obama's illegal executive-order amnesties for millions of "good" illegal aliens was so that he could concentrate his limited immigration resources on deporting the dangerous felons. Why waste money deporting "good" illegals when what we should really be spending our money on is deporting the dangerous, violent criminal illegals.

Apparently what he forgot to mention was that he was "deporting" those dangerous foreign criminals to places like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Georgia, Arizona, Texas, New York, Oklahoma, Florida, etc.

Passing secret legislation. What was, only 4 years ago, an audacious, unConstitutional and unAmerican power play by Obama is now the norm for both political parties. They are all totalitarians, and should be handled accordingly.

79 There are three factors necessary for a return to an Ice Age. The eccentricity of orbit, the variability of axis tilt, and something else related to orbit (I have to go back, re-watch program and take some notes). Anyway, one factor is correct, another factor is at halfway point (and in a glaring omission the program failed to mention whether it was increasing or decreasing -- so I'm sure it is increasing -- especially if it is axis tilt or 'wobble), and one factor is wrong.

Ice Ages begin in the Northern Hemisphere with cool summers, as ice and snow fail to melt in higher elevations. The past three summers in my area have become noticeably and progressively cooler with a bare handful of ninety degree days.

I have neighbors with a second home in the Pennsylvania Pocono mountains and they are absolutely disgusted with the cold temps there during the summer. Where people once went to escape the summer heat is now becoming an unpleasantly cold experience.

.Already happening here in Kentucky. Rural hospitals and Doctors Office's are closing at an alarming rate due to the overwhelming flood of Medicaid insurance form Obamacare signups.

Seems when 90% of your business is Medicaid there isn't enough money coming in to keep the doors open due to the extremely low Government reimbursement rates.

And that State will be on the hook for 5% of the increase in the cost next year and 10% the year after. And I can almost guarantee the Fed will reduce their share further in the very near future.

I think the Chinese believe they can do a lot of damage electronically. With that they can cripple the US and then do what they want during the chaos. Can they? Probably less than they think but more than we expect. Too much electronics are made there and the free trade over all nuts just don't see the danger.

My prediction is that the Chinese grab the Spratleys before Obama is out of office but possibly after the election. If they get away with it without a fight, all bets are off. Japan will nuke up. It wouldn't surprise me if the Koreans do as well. SE Asia will ignore the US and it will be an arms race. At that point, we would be smart to just walk away because at some point nukes will be flying.

Flood report is quick because I have to get the kids to the place early and have to take a detour for some strange reason...

The Red River of the South is at major flood stage and will crest tomorrow. It's higher than it's been since 1945.

Not much damage here. Just isn't much built right on the river in Shreveport or Bossier. And they aren't letting too much water out of a dam north of here.

Both roads along the river are closed.

More damage north in ARK and there will be more flooding down river soon.

Biggest problem is in places where the water can't drain any more and is getting backflow. Weird to see a neighborhood not close to the river be flooded.

When he left the hospital after the second and third strokes, the doctor shook his hand and said he'd never seen someone walk out under his own power after something like that.

154 In local news, idiots move next to Air Force Academy; are shocked to find said Academy is used to train Air Force

http://tinyurl.com/oe43sj2

"My backyard is the Air Force Academy," said Keith Myers.

"I don't have to set the alarm clock in the morning, they wake me up," said Myers.

Another nearby neighbor to the Academy, Steve Hornyak, said the noise is constant.

"There was one after the other, relentless, the noise was terrible," he said of Thursday's noise. "And it's getting worse."

After two years of the increased noise, Hornyak said he's about had enough.

"I'm actually thinking of selling my house," he said.

That explains a lot. The Mister worked in university administration at U-Maryland Baltimore before we moved to Ohio. (He's looking for work, if any Ohio Morons have connections in higher ed.)

The inside scoop on Morgan State University is that the state would have pulled its accreditation a long time ago because its academic standards are abysmal and its finances are a trainwreck but that it is a Historically Black College, and they don't dare touch it for fear of the racial backlash.

I grew up in C Springs. This time of year was one of the most awesome times. Academy graduation rehearsals always included tons of flyovers by various fighters, combers, and even giant cargo planes. Nothing cooler to me than sitting on the deck and watching (hearing and FEELING) the planes.

Also, before we moved to C Springs we lived north of Seattle for a couple years. We lived near a Chinook helicopter base. The first time one of THOSE flew over the house we thought it was an earthquake.

Only thing that's ever bothered me was the helicopters at Andrews. Their practice route was right overhead, very low.

it makes me feel alive, you
know? It makes me feel human. And the
only way I could feel this sad now is
if I felt somethin' really good before.
So I have to take the bad with the good,
so I guess what I'm feelin' is like
a, beautiful sadness. I guess that sounds
stupid..."

Remember all those posts by one of the Morons on how he knew that the Obamacare website rollout was going to be a failed project?

Yeah, we could almost go bullet-point by bullet-point and have parallels on this one.

But what do I know? I'm just the guy they decided should oversee the back-end development effort and help plan the rest of the project.

354 I make no conjecture4 about the state of Bruce Jenner's. That between he and God. However, the name "Vanity Fair" comes from John Bunyam's Classic, "The Pilgrims Progress" which de4scibes Vanity Fir in this way

Therefore at this fair are all such merchandise sold: as houses, lands, trades, places, honours, preferments, titles, countries, kingdoms; lusts, pleasures, and delights of all sorts-as whores, bawds, wives, husbands, children, masters, servants, lives, blood, bodies, souls, silver, gold, pearls, precious stones, and what not.
And moreover, at this fair there is at all times to be deceivers, cheats, games, plays, fools, apes, knaves, and rogues and that of every kind.
Here are to be seen, too-and that for nothing-thefts, murders, adulteries, false-swearers, and that of a blood red colour....

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at June 05, 2015 06:41 AM (GpgJl)"

Sadly, that is not true. A lot of control systems were at one time connected to a terminal port with a dial back modem which provided security and allowed an on call engineer to respond to a problem at a plant or control room by connecting in from home instead of trying to talk through a problem with an operator or drive in to the facility.

Sadly, far too many places replaced these modem based systems with internet connections without any consideration of security. It was a bad idea and continues to be a bad idea.
