It might be that the disability is low enough that he is eligible for food stamps. Sometimes I think the gov't has the military go cheap so the vets end up on some gov't program and then the gov't can talk about hurting vets by cutting it.

Here is the thing. If you really are disabled, and for real disable not I got fat disabled, I have no problem with having you get govt help. If it were only the truly disabled/widows and orphans/ people who need temp assistance to et back on their feet and were well managed than I would say this is a program we can afford to have as a country.

The problem is not the occasional person who really needs it. It's dealing with all the fraud. And ebt program is insanely fraudulent and too many people get too much money. People on ebt probably spend more than I do routinely.

You could always go down in get replacement knobs off of old junked TVs. We used to have boxes of old TV parts stored under our house. And when I was a kid VHF was the only channel knob you had. And there were 12 channels of which we got 2.

When we were cleaning out old junk at my parents house after my mom had died we ran across old check stubs from my dad. In the early 60s he was making about $2,000 a year. But at that time a pack of cigs was 25 cents, a coke was 5 cents, and the rent on the house we were living in was $40/month.

I have checked a lot of things that I have been able to find the prices on from those Shorpy pictures and what I have found is that if you use government numbers for inflation you will find that the government has consistently under-posted the inflation index for the past 30 or 40 years. Even before Obama.
