ZeroCare exchanges have failed in seven states, Humana is bailing on their health insurance business, because they seem to believe it is at peak value and its downhill from here, and the illegality of administration of the law is coming home to roost in King v. Burwell (at least in one small part).

Morning.
Nice 'dump' diversity! I just read, well skimmed the first few paragraphs anyways, that post at frisky from the ONT about mattress girl. Wow, was that whiny. Honestly, I am a bit leery of the 'this is worse, so talk about this rather than that' argument sometimes. I think there is time to talk about lots of things. If I actually thought mattress girl was anything more than a liar, trying to coast through college by doing an incredibly stupid thing and maligning an innocent person at the same time I would have more sympathy. Like if I thought she actually had been raped and was unable to deal with it, I would feel compassion for her and think her friends and family should help her into therapy. I would be ok with her whining about her personal trauma rather than that of people she doesn't know around the world. But that frisky article also highlights the actual problem, which is false equivalency. 'Sure, women are being sold into slavery and raped and forced to marry and convert by Boko Hara, but what about the patriarchy everywhere!!! It's totes the same'. No, no it isn't the same. STFU. This is why I can never call myself a 'feminist'. Posted by: Lea at June 02, 2015 08:44 AM (lIU4e) 23

If you remember, the Obama Regime changed the way GDP was calculated a few years ago to hide the decline. They decided that it didn't include "hidden" economic activity so they came up with a number, I think it was a half-trillion dollars, to "account" for that. Secondly, Government spending is a component of GDP, which is absurd, but it also means that just by engaging in deficit spending the regime is able to cloak any decline in private sector economic activity. Perversely, any attempt to reduce deficit spending ipso facto will result in a lower GDP; which Obama and the crony capitalist Republicans will point to as evidence that spending cannot be reduced without adverse economic consequences. The way Obama cooks the books, he must have Gordon Ramsay working as his chief of OMB. Posted by: Gregory of Yardale at June 02, 2015 09:00 AM (O7MnT) 75

Valley Hospital is particularly bad at this crap.
Posted by: CharlieBrown'sDildo at June 02, 2015 08:48 AM (Zu3d9) We need a law or something . Seriously though, insurance has allowed hospitals to effectively hide their costs from consumers, which inevitably was bound to lead to this sort of crap. When my daughter was born we got a bill from WashU. Apparently the NICU docs that had to check her over (policy for all "instrument deliveries" was a WashU employee, not one of the hospital. Luckily it was only $13. I think her Anesthesiologist was also an independent contractor. (But there was no copay for that.) Their not the only ones who do that. At SLU, the docs are all SLUCare, even though the hospital (until yesterday) was owned by Tenent. When you go in for many things to the hospital it's not like you have a choice of doctor for tons of the procedures, and you check to make sure your hospital is in there, but there's no actual way to check for unknown doctors. I hate to tell anyone this, mainly cause of the blowback but if you believe in any of any part of the liberal catechism, you're part of the problem.
That's how leftism works and how it spreads. You think you can believe in one itty bitty part that seems okay but see they then will use that to present their ideas overall are being accepted and therefore the winning formula. It's tough I know but this is how they work. You can't believe just a little bit of hate speech should be condemned or even made illegal. It's the camel's nose under the tent. It's how we got in such a short time from supposed hangars in back alleys to aborting 9 month fetuses by chopping them up after a scissors to the brain. And it's a long slog back from the brink once it's done it's damage. The acceptance of any part of the feminist codex puts you at odds with liberty and equality. (true equality, not equivalence or equal outcome or any of the other fake icons meant to confuse and hide their true purpose.) Examine closely the history of all the left's movements and ideology and you'll find that it's incrementalism all the way down. You only believe in 10% of their bullshit? Fine they'll take that and parlay that into a law or regulation or a meme to be used to pester others over their recalcitrant attitudes. Did you know there's no evidence that a single cost hanger abortion ever took place? The reason the were called "back alley" abortions was because women entered into legitimate doctor's offices from the back alley, not the front door. Prior to Roe deaths from abortion has actually fallen dramatically thanks to better antibiotics. I fact there were fewer maternal deaths from abortion in the year preceding Roe than the year following Roe. Also, Roe was based on the lie that Jane Roe was raped. She was not. Nor did she abort that child. So yeah it was bullshit all around. They also released fake polls showing public support when the truth was exactly opposite. Pretty much in any other industry, you can get an estimate of the costs of a procedure or process.
Not the Medical industry. It's like pulling teeth to get a commitment on the total before anything happens. Trying to find out whether an insurance policy will pay for a certain test or procedure is met with dismay and dismissal when asked for. Yet they make you sign papers that attest you will pay any and all fees that are not covered by your insurance policy and will do so immediately. One of the reasons for the tilt to government medicine is this obfuscation that has been part of US health care for a long time. They used to hide it because they didn't want you to know you could negotiate a lower price, maybe. Or that because you had no insurance you were paying 20 times the going rate so as to cover their losses on providing them for negotiated insurers. Many times doctors don't want to disclose their fees for care other than a basic office visit. Sometimes they don't even know what's being charged. Medicine is mostly science. There's some art to it and unexpected things happen or are found but they can pretty much predict how much something will cost. They don't want to quantify that for patients because they want the room to inflate as necessary. Thus we've had to force them into strict this fee for that code regimes. And here's a clue; no one's going broke providing medical care. Oh some badly managed hospitals here and there might go under. Especially if they're in a bad neighborhood. And insurers (who are really pooled risk plans anyway) can go under because of poor prediction or changes in the law, but for the most part, no one's starving working in the medical profession at any level. Why should individuals be liable for identity theft, instead of credit granters?
Here is a little something banks don't want you to know about identity theft; if they accept a forgery, they are on the hook for it. Credit bureaus and banks do everything they can to shift the blame to you because they know they can get away with blaming the victim. Point of fact, it is not an identity thief who ruins your credit - he starts the process - but the actual damage is done by the financial institutions trying to shift the onus from them onto you. And no, it is not their computers doing it, computers do only what they are programmed to do. If a computer is screwing you, somebody programmed that computer to do just that. What the USAF is betting with their "No EA-18G during the first days!' is that the F-35 with limited stealth and onboard EW can fight towards the target without support.
The EA-18G is not stealthy so the USAF thinks if they escort a strike package, it will attract attention. And when the Growler lights off the EW equipment, I think they are implying in the brute force blind everything mode, it apparently will cripple F-35 EW. The odd thing is, the Growler is carrying the AN/ALQ-99 jammer pods. Same pods used on the EA-6B and what was shoehorned into making the EF-111A. And when Sparkvark turned the jammers on it snowed everybody. So a known EW system and somehow the USAF never thought about how it might impact the F-35. Now ponder the kind of power that can emit from ground based radar systems and I start to worry if the F-35 EW can be zorched. I remember in a novel Tom Clancy mentioned the Luftwaffe losing an EW configured Tornado due to a radio tower and not due to crashing into the tower. Besides her nice rack, why is there a fascination with Marilyn Monroe?
Short answer: she's the subject of iconic photography and, like rock stars of middling talent venerated today, had the benefit of dying young, with a redemption and happy life ahead of her. She also, unlike fellow blonde bombshells Mamie Van Doren, Diana Dors and Jayne Mansfield, had that undefinable "presence" in the camera lens that makes one a star. For a longer answer, buy me a drink. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at June 02, 2015 09:33 AM (zF6Iw) 210

All the Hollywood starlets can do that, the men also. It's like ESP or something. Richard Pryor had a comedy routine about going to prison and 'keeping convicts mind off the body' (his body). If you watched John McCain working his town hall campaigns you could see some of the same thing. He could read an audience and adjust his message to get the audience on his side. He would focus in on the die hard recalcitrant and work on him until he was converted, or at least neutralized. It's a scam, all the way down. Just my own opinion here, and no disrespect to anyone's interest or to the women in question, but I felt like those women in the Whorange article had really skinny legs. I am accustomed to girls who invest considerable time in their leg exercises to build nice, round muscle groups. All curves all the way down, instead of angles. Likewise, 36 chest measurement has a lot of variation within it. Perky? Hanging? Perfect mix of both? C, D, E? F? G? o_O I have seen all of these and more. Part of it may be when we were growing up National Geographic magazine, the JC penny catalog and poorly scrambled cable channels were real exciting. Today there is nothing held back so seeing it does not have nearly the same impact. And those glimpses from my youth are seared into my memory in a good way that modern actresses can't compete with.
Posted by: Buzzsaw at June 02, 2015 10:10 AM (wrS2o) It can also be a bit with how your brain works. I'm in my 30's and if I were to go look at year books of me in high school and my classmates I would view them as young but not really that different from how they look now. But when I see kids that are in high school today, they almost all look like children to me. Posted by: buzzion at June 02, 2015 10:18 AM (zt+N6) 341

I can understand a woman choosing to stay with their partner in this scenario out of love and honoring the marriage vows, though the relationship would shift to more of a BFF than spouse. However, it's just as understandable that the spouse would be so alienated by it they'd want to leave. The person you married isn't there any more. There's a manifestation of serious mental issues. When spouses announce that they're gay, their spouses usually leave. In this case, he's supposedly a woman who isn't a lesbian. So where does that leave the wife, except in the other two rings of their family circus?

"Also, her charges were dropped by the courts and her things weren't returned."
As the prosecutor is quoted as saying, it was legal under the forfeiture law. You are complaining about the cops enforcing the law when you should be complaining about the people refusing to obey the law, and congress writing bad law. The federal law on pot hasn't change, has it? The libertarians want to live in a society where there are no limits, where they can act as recklessly as they feel like at the time. If they get what they want, they won't like it. Just as conservatives don't want to live in a society where people choose to disobey any law they don't agree with. >>Although this is the woman who raised the kardashians too. So I can't really be on anyone's side in that relationship.
Yeah, what little I've seen of this family is disturbing. Does make you wonder how Bruce's personal struggle affected those around him, though. For all we know his wife focused on pimping her kids to deal with the void in her marriage. Or she's just an awful person. Just find it interesting that amidst all the Jenner celebration the whole family side is for the most part being ignored. Can't imagine it would be easy to live with someone struggling with this, eh? OK,I've completely exceeded my lifetime cap on thinking about the Kardashians!! Posted by: Lizzy at June 02, 2015 10:21 AM (umo6N) 348

Marilyn is to me like the Beatles.
Never cared about Beatlemania. I liked the music. (Most of what I liked back when still stands up pretty well, all these decades later, at least to this old fogie, or I'm deluded by nostalgia.) Likewise, fascinatingly sad as her personal life was, I recall liking some of Marilyn's film performances. She exuded talentedly. Somewhere in the catacombs is Dad's 195? calendar with Marilyn's centerfold from Playboy. So, that, too. (Lost its collectible mint value a long time ago, but still a keeper.) Just as conservatives don't want to live in a society where people choose to disobey any law they don't agree with. I don't understand why so many conservative men oppose homosexuality. All you have to do is mention weed or muslims and they'll immediately bend over and let Uncle Sam fuck them in the ass. Posted by: Chewbama at June 02, 2015 10:25 AM (nlQae) 354

I always felt that if I go to the hospital, the hospital is required to bill me. I don't go to the car mechanic and get bills from four separate people. One thing to do is to tell the other people billing you that you don't know who they are and you did not contract with them. The mattress girl finally made the papers in Germany. What great big billboard for keeping foreign nationals away from US universities. Germans and Europeans say that Americans are prudish in sexual matters. Now this confirms their assumptions. Why would Europeans dare send their sons to seek overpriced degrees on campuses with unstable women?
