It's going to be extended, of course. At the end of this show, the Republicans will be split with most R's agreeing with the totalitarian Democrats and talking shit about the few good R's in Congress.

I've seen this tv show a couple of dozen times already.

8 McCain was giving Rand a ration of crap early on. Rand gave a short but passionate speech that, frankly, left me cheering for him.

Following, I tweeted, 'There shouldn't be a need for a US Senator to stand on the floor and beg people to consider liberty when legislating.'

64 I'd like to think I understand the reasons why some GOPs are in favor of extending it.

But I get stuck on the fact that if there are any abuses of the powers in the act, or crimes committed under the color of the act, the only way we would know about said abuses and crimes is if some whistle blower breaks the law and pulls a Snowden.

Some how I don't think that's what he founders had in mind.

Never mind that it will be one or more of the administration's dumb moves that causes the next, inevitable attack - ignoring intel from Russia, letting a terrorist slip in across our Southern border, pressuring local authorities into not "discriminating" certain sectors of the population, etc.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said on CBS's "Face the Nation" that ending the program Paul has targeted would put the nation's security in danger.

Former New York Gov. George Pataki took the most direct shot at Paul, saying he is "simply putting Americans at risk for a political reason. I think it's wrong and I think it's unfortunate."

Ben Carson said on ABC's "This Week" that he doesn't support Paul, though he did express some reservations about the NSA's phone data program.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie hit Paul last week as he slammed what he called "misguided ideologues who have no real world experience in fighting terrorism."

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who has announced he is running in 2016, has also defended the National Security Agency's role in collecting phone records.

a] Burner phones don't matter is he's traveling in the same places regularly (location meta data) and he's calling the same numbers. They can ID him by his behavior pretty quickly.

b] Not about look at Joe Blow, the individual.
It's about what orgs exist (which Joe Blow may be part of), who are the key nodes/people w/in those orgs, and simply disrupting the key members of the group to neuter it. I imagine that's what the IRS audit were about: finding key Tea Party groups that posed a threat to his re-election and neutralizing them.

See a better explanation in the article I linked in #149.

The fact that you belong to a large group, for example the 50% of the
US population that is conservative or Republican, does not give you
safety in numbers. Within this large group of millions are a much
smaller number of key leadership nodes. They are the nodes that matter,
the top of the hierarchy mandated by Dunbar's Number.

If you can control, corrupt or even bait those nodes you can reduce
the entire group to impotence. You can effectively decapitate it, a
strategy applied not only to al-Qaeda but apparently also by the IRS in
its hunt of Tea Party and Republican fundraising groups. The virtual

Why? Because concentrating on Muslims would be "discrimination". Even in 2001, the PC culture was so far advanced that nothing was worse than discrimination.

I can't figure out the tactics of it though. The tanks go in and expend a metric shit ton of ordnance, and has been for over a year now. The insurgents don't have heavy weapons to counter the armor, which would make it a logistics war, and the only way the insurgents can counter the Syrian government's logistics advantage would be to wage war on economic targets to destroy the economy that supports the army's logistics base.

Need some commentary from veterans with urban warfare experience.

those export model T-72s only have 400-500mm RHA at the front so it
doesn't take a lot to kill one. If they can separate the tanks from the

I think he was on some VH1 shows that talked about 1980's pop culture.
Tell him there was actually someone on the internet that vaguely remembers him and is pleasantly surprised he's still alive.
After their shows end, I kind of expect comedians to be found cooked in a running hot tub by freaked out neighbors after they pickle themselves with booze and / or accidentally overdose.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed...

Plus, it was easier to work around the G-men. In those days, you just ignored government you didn't like, and they ignored you too, unless you were depriving them of money, or made too much noise.
Plus, the eye of Sauron wasn't activated yet.

Ice Pirates differs in that its parodies were (slightly) more subtle. Spaceballs insisted on its references ("oh god not AGAIN"). On the grasping hand... when mocking that genre, parody arguably *shouldn't* be subtle.

I'm going to give the nod to Spaceballs. The plot is easier to follow.

Get within fifty ft of the thing in the daytime and you could see two foot long runs. It looked horrible.

What is going on here is that people won't let shjt go, and cuddle their butt-hurt to them like a favorite teddy bear in an electrical storm.

Granted, me too. I am nursing my personal butt-hurt like it is worth good money.

I'm pissed off because security, freedom and economic recovery are simple - not easy mind you - but simplesimplesimplesimplesimple and all people have to do is do the right thing and not try to make sure all the sweet kickbacks and the strokes and cocktail party invites land only in the right pockets.

And I am seeing my country be stolen by traitors who pledge to do everything to save it, and are turning it into a dictatorship while they fight over intangibles and who gets the good settings at the table.

So stop being those asshats and get on with your lives.

Thank you for your patience.

Ah yes, Suzi Quatto.

There had been plenty of female singers in rock music, and there were folk musicians like Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell playing acoustic guitars, but Suzi Quatro was pretty much the first woman to be a frontwoman for a rock band playing an electric instrument.

She was American, but had her greatest success in England. Her music wasn't all that memorable, but she was a pioneer and influenced subsequent generations of female musicians. She probably belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for that.

600 So since we're now on the gun thread, I can whine that those "Hi Tek" coasted 9mm 124-grain bullets left a definite "wash" of lead in the grooves of my XD. Online scuttlebutt was that the coasting works real well, almost no leading. Gonna increase the charge a bit. Got nearly 500 of them to use, so they'll all be loaded and shot, leading or no.

But I might be back to plan B: only the more expensive coated/jacketed in the 9mm. Making the cost advantage (about 40% with regular uncoated lead bullets) of reloading in that caliber fairly small.

It is a question of friction. Per Newton things in motion stay in motion until they are affected by something to change the motion.

Fire it between stars, it would coast until it got drawn into the orbit of something, or encountered a magnetic field that might change the direction or speed.
Fire it in orbit, it goes into orbit and is subject to gravity, solar wind and possibly solar or planetary magnetic fields. If it slows down enough it gets sucked into a large body.

I suppose the answer is "probably not forever"

Sounds like fun.

Special Interest Arms used to do 7.62x39 conversions of Lee-Enfields using the Hungarian singlestack AK mags and a new barrel. Discontinued now, unfortunately. Always wanted one, have a bubba'd No4 with a shot out barrel that would be a great candidate.

665 irrright, got one (a Lewis lead remover kit) for the revolvers, but I actually usually just use an all-copper ChoreBoy pot scrubbing pad, cut up in pieces and wrapped around an old brush of the appropriate caliber. Works very well. I might actually soak the XD barrel in some serious solvent - usually just snaking it and a few dry brush passes and it's mirror bright.

Kindl, I defer to others on your project idea. I am at a far lower technical level when it comes to gun projects. At the moment I have a plan to "re-arsenal" my 5 Mosins, meaning reshellac stocks (where needed), electronic bore-clean the barrels (again), polish the bolts, ensure the magazines feed easily with stripper clips (file out the interrupter if needed, and shim the magazine if needed), and document the proper hold/sight picture for each rifle.

irongrampa, I'd think if not acted upon by another force (gravity, etc) a bullet fired in space would in fact continue indefinitely. Hmmm, question: does smokeless powder require any oxygen present to burn? If so then the action of the firearm would have to be not in the vacuum of space.
