America's Law-Enforcement Problem [CBD]

Yes....we have a big problem. But it isn't the one our media has assumed, with help from the professional race-baiters in our current federal government, and of course the private enterprise version (Sharpton, Jackson, etc.).

I tweeted to @DrewMTips a few weeks ago that, "The so-called "good" cops almost always turn a blind eye to the crimes of the bad cops. Therefore they too are criminals."

Here is a perfect example of that. It is ridiculous to assume that every Orange County prosecutor or deputy sheriff is a crook, but the ones who are crooked are being protected -- actively or passively, it doesn't matter -- by the ones who aren't.

In Kevin Williamson's latest NRO article he eviscerates the Orange County CA prosecutorial apparatus for their systematic law-breaking and abuse of power. But look who he holds responsible for fixing the broken system!

The Democrats have long been acculturated to the climate of corruption that attends government agencies that are largely free of ordinary accountability, where a carefully cultivated lack of transparency shields operatives from scrutiny and normal oversight. Republicans can rouse themselves to action, if only barely, when this involves the federal Internal Revenue Service or Environmental Protection Agency. But deference to police agencies and prosecutors is so habitual among the members of the law-and-order party that they instinctively look for excuses when presented with obvious examples of police misconduct, and twiddle their thumbs in the 99 percent of cases of prosecutorial misconduct that do not involve a Republican elected official.

4 I'm sorry to go OT immediately but can I beg some prayers from the horde? My uncle just had a heart attack, about 3 weeks after being diagnosed with bladder cancer. Things don't look good, but right now he's awake and alert.

He's a militant leftie atheist and right now my biggest prayer is for him to accept Christ before his death. Politics aside, he's a good man who just somehow became jaded along the way and because he's super intelligent and aspergery, I think he clings to atheism as a mark of reason. You all know the type.

Anyway, I'm just praying his eyes can be opened during his last days. My grandpa was very similar but did soften so I know there's hope.

8 Back home in Alabama, there are still dry counties where you can't legally buy alcohol. There's an old joke that's based on truth that the sheriff's BIL was always the local bootlegger. Everybody knew who he was and where he operated. You had to be introduced to him to become his customer.

And yeah, the dry counties still received the revenue from liquor taxes, so it was a win for everybody...

...if you're a corruptocrat, that is. If you liked the uniformity of law where all are considered equal and justice is blind, you were SOL.

Depends on the so-called "crime."

I have family members who were cops and I still have several friends who are, so I am familiar with the culture. From my own experience (Army MP), you will not "snitch" period. If you do, you are going to be ostracized by the people you work with. Being a cop places you in some dangerous scenarios from time-to-time and your fellow cops have your back. This tends to make a tight bond within the group especially with some of the citizens you have to deal with day-in and day-out. If you are determined to be another Frank Serpico-- go for it. Old Frank had to leave the country IIRC. The DA and local politicos really don't care until they feel the heat.

I am not advocating turning a blind-eye, but just telling you like it is.

That stems from leadership. If it comes from the top that certain things won't be tolerated and backed up with discipline then it would evaporate.

There are ways to fix this mess. But like the spaghetti-spined Repumpkins in Congress, the people we trust to do it aren't doing it. What are we to think when we see so many violations of the law from the Oval Office and they take impeachment (the only way to enforce an out-of-control president) off the table?

Btw, another data point on my previous comment: So I noticed on the sidebar that Walker was getting set to sign an abortion ban, while the bullshit John Doe law is still on the books (I think, correct me if I'm wrong). The same law that got a bunch of his supporters in serious trouble from ... a prosecutor.

So what are we to take away from that? That the GOP of WI believes banning abortion to be of a higher priority than ensuring that their voters' rights aren't violated legally(!) by scumbag prosecutors?

78 I can understand how bonds of loyalty keep people mum about misconduct. Police take sh*t from the criminals, sh*t from the public, sh*t from grievance groups and sh*t from higher-ups. Their sense of "We're in this together" has got to be very strong.

The problem is while this can protect someone who made an honest mistake from destroying their career, the ones who want to be corrupt use it too.

My personal fave are the perps who "commit suicide" while in police
custody. Seems to occur with a noticeably higher regularity for cop
killers and child molesters. Funny that.

I'd also be curious to see if you have any proof for the statement that suicide in custody is more common for child molesters and cop killers.
