Washington Post's Eric Wemple Blasts ABC For Shopping the Story to Politico While Lying to the Free Beacon That Comment Was On The Way
As previously mentioned, the Clinton War Room is back, and running, as usual, under George Stephanopoulos' direction. Lying to the Free Beacon, former Hillary press contact Heather Riley promised the Free Beacon they'd have a comment the Wednesday night.
But then Stephanopouos gave the story to the liberal, friendly-forces "reporter" Dylan Byers, who included pro-Stephanopoulos spin like how charitable he is. Then, ten minutes after the story broke on Politico, Heather Riley issued the long-delayed, long-promised comment to Free Beacon. Eric Wemple isn't sure this is what happened, because Politico and ABC are all refusing to say one way or another. (Why he doesn't take that a confirmation, I don't know.) But he does say that if this is what happened, it's completely unacceptable. Some observations: The next time ABC News is doing a report on someone, and has a scoop, that subject should do exactly what ABC News did, that is, shop the story to a friendly outlet and deny ABC News the scoop. What right would ABC have to object? It's their own House Practice. ABC is acting in a partisan manner here. The Free Beacon came to them with a scoop. This scoop was true and undeniable. They did nothing wrong. But apparently ABC and former Clinton employees Stephanopoulos and Riley so despise conservatives -- even conservatives who are doing nothing wrong, except practicing proper journalism -- that they would engage in such dishonest, underhanded means to deny the hated conservatives their scoop. This is bias. This shows a Hillary Clinton level of pre-existing hatred for an entire political movement. And this is the guy they want front-and-center covering a Hillary Clinton presidential campaign! Finally, it is ABC News' and George Stephanopoulos' claim that their repeated non-disclosure of the donations, even when incandescently relevant, was all just an "honest mistake." But their behavior with respect to Free Beacon is dishonest, sharp-dealing, partisan, conservative-hating, self-serving, venal, and corrupt. So given that we can see the partisan, dishonest, and corrupt motives in their spin -- why would anyone believe that their previous motives were above-board? It would take a Clinton zealot to believe that. Fortunately, it seems there are a lot of them working at ABC News. You cannot boycott ABC News because you're already boycotting them -- you haven't watched ABC News in 20 years, most of you. But you can hurt ABC. Badly. Bear in mind, their News Entertainment division, for which Stephanopoulos works, is just a small part of their overall Entertainment business. If you want to send ABC News a message that will be heard, loud and clear: Send that message care of Disney and Marvel. It's time to boycott ABC's Entertainment-Entertainment to bring their News Entertainment into line. And it's time to boycott a film Disney has a lot riding on. A movie I was strongly looking forward to seeing, but will not be seeing now. BOYCOTT ANT-MAN. If Ant-Man struggles at the box office, Disney shareholders take a hit. And then maybe they'll demand some changes in their little Progressive Animal House in their News Entertainment division. By the way, if you haven't seen Avengers 2 yet, you can start the boycott there. I saw it. It's meh as hell. I went there thinking I'd get a review out of it but then, hours after I saw it, had no desire to talk about it either way, good or bad. It exists. It is not remarkable in any way. Let these fuckers know we have had it. Hit them where it hurts-- in their wallet.And then later: Maybe we can talk about the rest of our corrupt, partisan socialist media.

I cannot begin to tell you how unreliable they are. We were in a "first class" cabin on the stupid train.
It ran so late to depart, son and I had to get a hotel room to try to sleep until 1:00 a.m. The next morning, we head for breakfast, and looking at the empty dining car, (and I'd had a totally sleepless night) I say to little son, "Honey, pick out a place to sit."
Bastard Amtrak employee says, "Tell your mom to go over there [points thru dining car] and stand in line with everyone else."
We then have a three hour layover in St. Louis (we were traveling from TX to Chicago).
When dinner hour arrived, Amtrak announced, "We're out of food and water."
Then, we stopped in the middle of IL farm country for over an hour. No explanation.

Bloodborne is still a very hard game but far more forgiving. It's hard to tell. Sometimes people just give up too early or they don't try and summon for help. But it seems more doable than the souls series. Far less punishment for death. Plus don't forget the summons. Give a try. You can always trade it in if you fail.

No. It turns out that the story is not that the mean old Republican cheapskates cut funding for vital safety equipment as all the Democrats claimed.
Instead, it turns out that George W.Bush signed legislation to fund safety equipment that would have prevented the engineer from racing his train through that curve at twice the rated speed limit and that equipment was installed on the train but that between the Amtrak bureaucracy and the FCC bureaucracy they could not get their act together with respect to assigning radio frequencies that would allow the safety equipment to prevent the engineer from operating the train in a way that would kill eight people and put 200 in the hospital.
Whether it was bureaucratic infighting or just government worker sloth, the fact is that Republicans approved the money for the safety equipment and the Democrat government workers could not be bothered to do their jobs in a manner so that the passengers on that train could ride safely.
For obvious reasons, the media do not want to tell that story.

In Dark Souls, I made it just past the hydra after putting many, many hours into building up my character and getting used to the combat system. After a few extremely cheap deaths by some killer trees eventually resulting in the loss of 12000+ souls and some humanity, though, I never played it again. For all I know, my savegame is corrupted since I did a hard power-off on the PS3 immediately after the final death. I loved the atmosphere, though; it was simultaneously both beautiful and dread-inducing.

They are compelled to destroy pretty things. Mine decimated an entire ivory chess set in one ill-timed leap (he was very portly) and showed zero remorse. He even seemed a bit smug, like a fat kid doing a cannonball.
Now when I was a kid my dad had a dozen beautiful chess sets on display, and many times if I woke up in the middle of the night I would chance upon our female kitty weaving through the set pieces. But she was dainty and rarely even tipped them over. The question remains: why was she driven to mess with human stuff? Cats, man.

A little inside story. I mentioned this last night.
Many institutions, including LEO's, and more to my expertise golf courses, had to switch several years ago to narrow band width radio frequencies. Something about the log jam during 9/11.
IIRC institutions faced $10,000 fines per day if we didn't comply. To upgrade radio controlled irrigation systems it cost some courses 10's of thousand of $$$.
I'm sure the democrat cities in the NE couldn't spare EBT $$$ to comply and the FCC and the other alphabets looked the other way.

It is amazing. Just put the leftovers in the fridge. Maybe because I was starving, but their thin crust is actually thin and crispy. The toppings were great. And they were here (from farther away) earlier than the other local chains. Will definitely order again (except we're not doing pizza very often).

Bloodborne is PS4 exclusive. Sony owns it so no Steam sales. It is hard to say if it is worth one game to buy PS4. You can look at the lists of PS4 exclusives and decide... But the stuff like losing all your souls/echoes like you did in Souls 1 and 2 don't happen nearly as much because there are much better and much safer! grind points. You won't lose your "insight" which you need to summon. No more grinding for humanity or human effigies. You are far more able to focus on the "git gud" aspect without all punitive punishment. I have all consoles/pc and Bloodborne stands out for me. PS4 is a great console for the Japanese stuff as well.

My theory, based on the fact that Ace has written that they had gotten the safety system working for southbound trains going through that curve but not for northbound trains and also that I have read that the engineer had been posting for years how important it was that this safty system be installed, is that the engineer was conducting his own unauthorized test of the safety system.
Perhaps he had done the same thing going south and the system had successfully slowed the train down. When he tried the same test going northbound, the system was not working yet so the train kept going faster and by the time the engineer realized that and tried to use the brakes, it was too late.
Anyway that is my particular theory based on nothing but my own airy conjectures. I am certainly open to new facts rendering it inoperative.

They have about 50,000 tiny hairs on their noses and it tickles like pure agony.

It would require me to be thinking coherently enough to do that that, and since I sometimes don't get to sleep until 2:00 or am am from 1:00 until 3:00 my mind is not exactly functioning on all cylinders. Also if I am asleep heavily it almost scares me me to death when I hear that noise.
Fortunately, if I just remember to shut the door downstairs he can't do that.

Yes. I have done that. Some cats require two or even three times. Once they understand that they don't want to irk you, cats are much easier to live with.
One important thing to remember. While you are holding the cat by the scruff of its neck, it can scratch or bite anything in front of it. If you are holding the cat in your right hand, be very aware of where your left hand is. Cats can reach out and bite you from what seems like an amazing distance and then you are likely to spend a week in the hospital on IV antibiotics.

I picked up Spec Ops: The Line as part of a (Humble?) bundle a while back. It's good but nowhere near deserving the hype and praise heaped upon it by the press. The story and atmosphere was interesting enough that I played through it in its entirety though the plot twist toward the end was kinda cheap. The gameplay mechanics were pretty good.

Everybody had to narrowband. We went from 25 MHz bandwidth to 12.5 MHz. Now there is the ultra-narrow bandwidth in the works. 6.25 MHz per channel. If you know of an alternative way of conveying them to the shower without getting clawed or bitten, I would love to hear about it.
Once the cat realizes what is happening, they strive very vigorously to avoid it. Of course, they don't spend much time in the shower anyway. As soon as you toss them in, they run out like they have a jet pack and find some furniture to hide under.

If you are still mad they'll be even more careful. Despite being a predator, they survive mostly by hiding and avoiding trouble, so they'll revert to that mode if they think you're a serious danger - or at least not family any longer.

The studios don't get any money from the popcorn. That's all movie theaters, its where they get most of their money. The way it works, each week that a movie stays in the theater, the larger percentage of ticket sales the theater gets. It starts out very small.
Thus studios have a vested interest for films NOT to stay a long time in theaters and make their movies with that in mind. A series of movies that's really popular one or two weeks then disappears to make room for the next film is best for their profits. Worst for the theaters.

I have no sense of humor that I'm aware of. No I just wanted to make sure people understood that if they skip the snacks they're screwing the theater, and not the studios. Although at the insanely high prices, its hard to justify a box of popcorn. Its more than the damn ticket these days, and it costs pennies to make.

It is one of those things that often amazes me, the difference in time scale between the US and stuff in the Old World. The historical artifacts that ISIS has been destroying are thousands of years old. Old houses in America are 150 to 250 years old.
I remember the British show "Time Team" went to Jamestown Virginia once. That is one of the oldest archeological sites in the United States. One of the Time Team cast mentioned that he recognized many of the artifacts they found as common in a British site from the early 17th century. He also said that usually in England they would bring in a back hoe to dig through that stuff to get to the medieval or Roman stuff underneath.

Sunset Overdrive on the Xbox One was really fun too if you have the system. It's fun to play and it doesn't take itself too seriously. The respawn sequences alone are entertaining enough that I didn't mind dying as often as I did.
