To be fair, I don't think the artists used Pantone colors, or a CMYB. And lighting depending ofn the camera affects a lot.

25 I don't know nothing 'bout painting, but seems like the smaller image should have the same color pallet as the larger. I like the colors in the smaller; the browns of the are not as appealing, and I can't get past the out of focus look to the larger.

I'm not an expert on scanners either, nor image compression algorithms but I'll go out on a limb and say the scanned image is a poor reproduction of the original.

OK, this is new to me. NYT:

"In their first season as the Boston Patriots of the American Football League in 1960, one of their earliest games ended when a fan wearing a trench coat ran into the end zone to bat down an opponent's last-play, game-tying touchdown pass attempt. The fan then retreated, vanishing into an unruly crowd as the Patriots celebrated their victory. For many seasons afterward, the Patriots' owner, Billy Sullivan, who was commonly seen in a London Fog-style trench coat, was suspected of being the Patriots' 12th man on the play. Sullivan never denied it."

According to the NYP he's sending out his "missionaries of mercy" to absolve women who've had abortions as well as those who have performed abortions. Which is curious because I could have sworn that it is a "mortal sin' that makes you ineligible for the Eucharist (or some other thing at RC Mass ) which is why there is some controversy over pro-choice Democrats receiving communion every week.

*sigh* The gay rights movement was never about treating gay people with dignity. It was always about promoting hedonism and attacking any sort of monogamy, fidelity, and self-restraint.

We're now supposed to pretend that AIDS is no worse than the common cold, and that "anyone can get it" as if it wasn't predominantly spread within one particular community who refuse to take the necessary precautions.

117 According to the NYP he's sending out his "missionaries of mercy" to absolve women who've had abortions as well as those who have performed abortions. Which is curious because I could have sworn that it is a "mortal sin' that makes you ineligible for the Eucharist (or some other thing at RC Mass ) which is why there is some controversy over pro-choice Democrats receiving communion every week.

119 Nypost has a story on the pope. He has sent out "an army of priests" to forgive women who have had abortions and doctors and nurses who have performed abortions. Previously some bishops could provide forgiveness under limited circumstances. It appears the pope has made forgiveness for abortion much easier to receive. It's part of his Year of Mercy outreach.

151 I ride a motorcycle and have been dreaming of lane splitting, which is illegal everywhere but permitted in California.

A trip out to the left coast last summer allowed me to experience it, the first time being on the 405 in L.A. after coming down over the Grapevine from up north.

I hesitated and would not do it, sitting in the almost stalled HOV lane, but when another rider came through, I just followed. From then on throughout my stay in the L.A. area I was doing it regularly.

There is a guy who has posted a lot of vids on YouTube, under the nic "nutnfancy," who has a great video up on lane-splitting. If you want to experience it and hear about it from a regular doer, watch and enjoy.

I sure wish they would permit it here where I live, in the busy Denver front-range metroplex. I-25 is a parking lot for much of every day, including weekends.

The pope wishes to reach out to people who have committed the sin of abortion - to bring them back to God - through the sacrament of reconciliation. In this case - the pope is saying you meet the sinner where he is. And send priests who can hear a good confession and provide counsel. Some priests are better at this than others - just as some are better scholars than others.

Its in keeping with his evangelization. The fact that media seems to think this is a new Catholic approach is astonishing - but hey if they want to report on it positiviely - great.

I hope the pope succeeds in this mission.

Technically anyone can contract AIDs, but the CDC data very clearly shows that homosexual men are the primary population for HIV. That and black women, but that has more to do with situations like your family member.

Ultimately what this is about is trying to convince children that these diseases aren't dangerous and undermine the argument that you should show restraint as a means of protecting yourself.

Actually... because they have CHANGED historic temperature records... we don't know whether its getting warmer or not...

They have been BUSTED 'renorming' data... consistently making it colder in the past, to make it look like there is more warming now.

Note.... warming stopped as soon as we had reliable SATELLITE temp readings.... how.... convenient...
