Defense officials Monday dismissed as "wild speculation" an Internet-fueled claim that a massive summertime exercise called Jade Helm 15 for special operations commandos is a covert operation by President Barack Obama to take over Texas.

18 Re: Evangelicals support for ghey "marriage" doubles... I am currently unchurched, and on the advice of my wise eldest son I tried a church (not "Evangelical") 30 miles away that should've been a shoe-in for me. Imagine my shock to see the Obama bumper sticker in the parking lot. Then I recalled the percentage of Evangelicals nationally who voted for the pencil-necked Socialist.
While we're on the subject: Catholics in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens?
Thanks to the intellectual generosity of our host here at Moron Central, our Ace, I have said it before in these spaces. One needs more than Faith and Reason to be a Conservative. May I humbly suggest that state of being also requires a mag-fed weapon, target practice, and a bayonet?

21 1/5 Of Jobs In Baltimore Are Government Jobs

That means they operate at a huge deficit. There is no way 5 taxpayers can pay one gov employees salary. That was the problem they had in Wisconsin. Scott Walker, love him or hate him is on his way to rectifying that.

Posted by: Oldsailors Poet at May 05, 2015 09:08 AM (KbNXw)

23
Williamson's piece makes some good points, but I think he's off the mark in saying we got lucky in Garland.

Garland was prepared. Williamson is mostly on about how the Feds are squandering resources and spying indiscriminately and ineffectively. All of which is true, but Garland at the local level - the organizer and the city government - took prudent steps and was prepared.

A grudging hat tip to the Texas Morons who are always going on about how you would handle shit, because you handled shit.

34 @22 It was austere (no incense), but the pastor had a great sermon, based on Scripture.
The main problem was the distance. When I was a kid I was at church 4 days a week with one activity or another. Of course, it was a block away.
I am not qualified to expound at length on the role of Faith in Society. I can, however, draw a contrast for Christians facing dhimmitude through political, or military, inaction: Commies never had a seek and destroy mission for Christians. Jews, maybe, Christians, no. Unlike these savages these days.

The first election in 2008 in the church I was working with we had some people with Obama stickers and some with McCain/Palin. Yes, Christians can have voted for Obama too. I just asked because I wasn't sure if the poster decided not to attend the service at all because he was put off by the bumper sticker which would IMO, be a shame. In this church I serve now I get the impression that almost everyone voted for candidates against Obama (One guy like to pigeonhole me and tell me his opinions. ;^) although I haven't asked and wouldn't.

Had the press and entertainment industry done the opposite and talk about how the H+ people were disordered. We would be seeing record low numbers of people claiming/actually homosexual.

56 Steve-is there a closer church you could attend? I recommend to people who come from a high church tradition (you mentioned incense) but are unhappy with the Episcopal Church. fopr instance to try to the Anglican Church in North America. They are a spoilt off group from Episcopal Church. You can look them up web. I just think at tough times like this people with a church background who may not have been in a while should consider going back to hear the Gospel proclaimed, the Sacraments celebrated, to hear the great hymns of faith and to have other people to pray with. Other people here might have some suggestions from their traditions. God bless you I hope you find a wonderful place for Christian fellowship!

Add in the lack of evangelization and utter unwillingness to tackle the more "difficult" (for which read, "makes us feel icky about ourselves") portions of Church teachings, and you can see why younger "churchgoers" would be A-OK with gay sex and abortion.

Just see post 46 for an idea of how deep the rot is.

Sure, why not --- because religion exists to validate your lifestyle choices, right?

I suppose the whole break in the Episcopal church over the gay bishop was just a silly misunderstanding, a kerfuffle. Maybe that whole Catholic church abuse scandal could have been avoided if they had only embraced inter-generational relationships, and homosexuality in step w/our culture, huh?

Those aren't Christians. Those of new age, hippy-dippy, "do what feels good/ I'm more spiritual than religious" types.

Anyone who argues that a sin is not a sin is not a Christian.

Which, no matter what we do to accept and love them, just isn't in our hands. All anyone can do is not compound the error.

150 In Garland We Got Lucky

Okay, I stopped reading pretty quickly, because Williamson is showing a basic misunderstanding of our justice system from the get-go.

The now-cooling-corpse was *suspected* of wanting to join a terrorist group, but could not be convicted. He was convicted of "lying to the FBI," which, when compared to "attempting to join a terrorist group" is like the cop pulling you over for doing 110 in a 50, realizing that his equipment read completely wrong, and having to settle for ticketing you because your tail light is out.

He was being monitored despite this (something about which I have great reservations, constitutionally speaking). He had apparently violated no laws (at least, not in any actionable way)- the FBI came out with that yesterday (yes, yes, I know: we're contractually obligated not to believe a word the FBI says).

So what we really have here is someone we knew wanted to commit a crime- but wanting to commit a crime is not, itself, a crime. Nor should it ever be. Our justice system requires that a criminal actually, get this, commit a crime before they are arrested.

What Williamson is shilling for is not compatible with freedom. To quote Captain America: "That's not freedom, it's fear."

What happened in Garland is exactly what *should* happen. A criminal (two of them, actually) attempted to commit a violent crime. They were responded to instantly with greater violence. In this case they ended up dead, I would have been equally satisfied with "apprehended and arrested."

But a society in which one can be arrested because of *wanting* to commit a crime is not one in which I wish to live.

Godo word, Jimbo, As I remarked several days ago, Jesus said, "On this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."

As a Protestant I believe that the church is made up of all know know and love Jesus and want to be his disciples but it's good to remember it's gone through wars, disease, schisms and it's still here, because Christ is the cornerstone.

"On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand."

They actually do not want God to change his mind, as they don't believe in God. But they understand that those in the church do, so they are working through that disguise in order to serpent their way into the trust of the churchmembers to begin spreading their message. It's about getting the members to follow THEM, not God.
I believe the bible talks about this as a tactic of Satan.

163 I just think the best response to ISIS in this case is the same response WD would have us give to the SJWs.

Fuck off.

Oh and also, ha ha.

They want to scare us. Nothing cuts worse than a shrug of the shoulders and some good old fashioned mocking.

Do I think they could actually do something legitimate? Yes, I do. However this incident makes me *less* fearful of them, not more.

Maybe that's their double secret mind trick "We will sacrifice our incompetent terrorists to make them think we are not a threat, and then, we strike!"

I'm thinking it's more likely their role in this was limited to posting to a website for people to fight against the great satan and these two bozos answered the call.

So they went from each having a soul, total three, to each having half a soul.

Good for them, now there is only one and a half of them to forget.

Never heard of the woman. Clearly a single mom.

168 My feeling is that I think it's cheap provocation to purposely insult another's religion and it's not the Christian thing to respond to that insult with an insult. Usually it's atheists who are the culprits.

In the case of 'drawing Mohamed ' I believe that goes beyond the religious issue and is not intended first to be an insult but rather directly related to the defense of free speech.

On that basis, it is more than appropriate.

Wanting and planning are different.

Apparently this guy was planning to go to Somalia to be a terrorist. That's illegal.

170 With less than 48 hours to present his new government to President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again ran into difficulties Tuesday as negotiations with key coalition partner Bayit Yehudi stalled over the allocation of portfolios.

171 What about the guns? I'm guessing buying them must have sent up some flags.

I haven't heard for sure. Presumably if they were illegal weapons and the FBI was monitoring him, they would have swooped in then (though maybe not with this particular administration: Fast & Furious, anyone?).

Purchasing legal weapons is not a crime. And I'll say again- I don't want to live in a society where me doing something that isn't a crime is considered a crime.

Look, I suspect he really did want to join a terrorist group back in 20-whatever. I suspect he should have been convicted. But he wasn't, and under our system that means he's a free man (well, sans probation).

That's the other thing- if him purchasing weapons was a violation of his probation, that should have had him in jail quickly- the fact that it didn't indicates it wasn't.

My point is not that he wasn't a bad guy the whole time. My point is that our system is designed such that we wait for bad guys actively to do bad things- there is no such thing as the department of Pre-Crime, nor should there be.

173 Apparently this guy was planning to go to Somalia to be a terrorist. That's illegal.

By our legal system, apparently he *wasn't* because they couldn't convict him of that. They could only convict him of lying to the FBI.

They could fcuk up a wet dream, so screwing up a terrorist prosecution is not surprising.

I rocked the ping-pong ball toss into the little cups.of water with a goldfish inside. Every year I brought home 2-3 fish. Went back next year to replace dead said fish.

179 Unfortunately speaking obvious truths like this in today's America get you called a meany hater but spouting
out insincere, throw away lines about compassion and taking care of ALL the children wins you applause for your generosity and vision.

I now have the perfect comeback when someone tells me that until I have kids, I shouldn't presume to tell them how they should raise theirs.

"But your god said they were mine to raise too".

The problem is this is what you get when you have a bunch of Muslims in the country. I would immediately shut down the mosque they came from, deport any non-citizens and put the rest on probation for a five years. It's time for some group punishment.

181 I made the mistake of reading the comments on "the Federalist" after the article on acquiesing to abortion. I don't know if these people are libertarins are leftists but I couldn't read the entire thing some of the comments were so sophomoric, insulting and just stupid. From one woman. "I have been in an committed relationship for six years and I plan to have baby some day, just not now so I had an abortion." What happens if it just doesn't work out an she can't have a baby when she wantss? The causualness of her comment just repelled me.

Many couples will be stunned to learn on the rapid drop of fertility after about the age of thirty. We had our first two in rapid succesion and decided to wait a few years to have a third. Things changed and it proved impossible. That women above may come to realize she killed her child and cannot produce another at will. Her casual indifference to the life she threw away and can never get back should haunt he to the grave.

184 Re the millennial thing-- they keep telling me I'm one (b1986) but then they write tripe like this?

This is the problem with the irritating vastness of the "millennial" label. The older "millenials" in fact do know how to use computers professionally. People born in the 80s remember the introduction of mainstream computers, and grew up on Windows 93 and 95 in school, and I remember using DOS at home. And you had Netscape and Microsoft Office, the start of AOL instant messaging, and some games. In our computer classes, we learned Excel to make graphs and use data, we used PowerPoint for presentations (unless it was easier to use the projector), we were taught Boolean search rules for Google, and that's what we did with computers, because Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube didn't exist until we were in college.

Seriously, people need to stop trying to say this generation is people born from 1980 through *today*. That's idiotic, and it's idiotic to say that we grew up on social media the same way as a current eighth grader.
