I don't remeber getting called a Honky. But they did take great joy in beating my ass at the Yo Momma insult game. They were good guys and we went out drinking together. I don't make that assumption at all. Another scenario is the cops telling the prisoner they'll make it easier on him, it'll help his case, etc. if he tells the investigators Gray did it to himself.

This is what I think a lot of people do not get, particularly those who have never lived in a city. Cops get to deal with all the shitty stuff most of us do not want to deal with, much like soldiers although to a much lesser degree.

4. Police become the revenue arm of the government. Speed traps, ticket quota's, fines for ever increasing violations of ever increasing local ordinances. "Court Day" is the big revenue generator, with your choice being to pay the fine or stand in line all night for your chance to argue your case. You have a decent chance of avoiding the fine, but you must be able to afford a lawyer and/or be able and motivated enough to stand in line all night.

5. Local politicians say their "voices are being ignored" when the pyramid scam reaches this point. There are inevitable cries for more support from the state and federal government, along with neighboring cities and counties.

6. There are pleas for others to "understand the underlying issues/root cause", while completely pretending that 1-5 did not happen.

7. Then they get re-elected by the people they are persecuting.

As shitty as that is, I was thinking of an even lower bar. Every damn day getting called into deal with bar fights, domestic disputes, road rage, it just has to make you much less tolerant of any sort of bullshit. And in the city you have to deal with a lot of irrational actors who might not believe in registering their weapons.

I won't ever excuse police going to far but I give them a lot more leeway than most and wonder if people understand what will happen if they stop thinking its worth it.

I agree. Police see the worst of humanity day in and day out. That has to make them jaded after awhile.
