2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, April 20, 2015. On this day in 1999 Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 13 people and injured 21 others before committing suicide at Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado. These two were punk juvenile delinquents who were in and out of trouble with the law much of their young lives. They actually should have been sent up to reform school and in fact had been sent to one, but were released before their time was up. They were able to illegally obtain their guns via straw purchases thus proving that gun control does not work. Of course after the shootings there was another huge outcry from the gun grabbers wanting more gun control that would not work.

3 The feds have arrested 6 people who allegedly had ties to ISIS and wanted to go fight with them. They appear to be of Middle East extraction. So why are we letting these SOBs in the country. Yes, we need some "immigration reform" but not the amnesty the politicians keep harping about.

I kind of thought as much. IIRC, J. Christian Adams had a piece on PJ Media about there being more to the story than what we saw.

Then again, that video fits the meme much more than the Ferguson incident, so I'm shocked it isn't all over the place. A lie or at least the appearance of something "bad" never stopped the race hustlers.

34 "29 DHS would call the Patriots terrorists these days..."

I guess we've all had the experience of knowing a cop is "checking you out." A cruiser pulls behind you in traffic and stays there much longer than the prevailing traffic requires.

That's happened several times since I added my bumpersticker. Black print on a yellow field that says:

"That government is best which governs least."
Henry David Thoreau

This is probably considered dangerous heresy by our security overlords.

Uh-huh.

It has long been my contention that computer domination of everyday life would lead to a society that can communicate only in grunts and gestures. Twitter has merely sped up the process. You learn to use abbreviations, misspellings and fractured English.

Pro Tip: the "idjits" pay no attention; it has ever been thus. Tweets fly back and forth between the observers who feel the need to comment on the doers. Said doers pay less attention to the resulting mosquito-buzz than you want to think they do.

Much like the, "Mexicans are natural conservatives" jazz, liberals who flee the disasters they create to red states never have a come to Jesus moment and start voting appropriately.

We have 30-40 years of empirical data and several states that were red which are now blue because those two groups have infested them.

The overall problem, and not just on Twitter but everywhere, is that we are always on defense. Lies travel halfway around the world before the truth gets out of bed.

Stuff George Wallace said back in '64.
(and he was right) The left used desegregation as a way of getting their grubby paws on what is supposed to be a State job. Well, they got their "in" and have been taking more and more power away from the states since. Just like they always do. And it's funny that segregation has come full circle now in Ferguson, Missouri, with blacks wanting their own police department, city council, etc. Segregating themselves from whites.

133 Then again, that video fits the meme much more than the Ferguson
incident, so I'm shocked it isn't all over the place. A lie or at least
the appearance of something "bad" never stopped the race hustlers.

There are several reasons that Ferguson was the fit for the race hustlers that South Carolina is not. The most important is that there was no video of the shooting in Ferguson.

A.When lies are your native tongue you have to be free to weave a web of lies; i.e. "Hands up, don't shoot." etc.

B. Rumor goes hand and foot with lies. The "gentle giant" could be painted as such only because there was no video of the shooting so the narrative could be creatively painted.

C. It was a young man in Ferguson so the "Poor little Trayvon" card could be played with pictures showing him as a cute kid weaved into the lies.

D. There could be a DOJ "investigation" into what happened in Ferguson; in other words the "mystery" of what happened allowed the race baiting.

E. The outrageous video in South Carolina does not benefit the liars and race baiters because the video was outrageous; how can you get blacks steamed up at an apathetic "whitey" when white people were not apathetic but were outraged and immediately had the shooter arrested for murder.

F. The black victim in the South Carolina case was running away; which is not a very heroic thing to do; as opposed to the gentle giant in Ferguson who could be painted as standing still with his hands up (heroically doing the right thing) when he was shot in the back.

In other words: Liars don't know what to do with the truth; how can they lie about that?

I kind of thought as much. IIRC, J. Christian Adams had a piece on PJ Media about there being more to the story than what we saw.

Then again, that video fits the meme much more than the Ferguson incident, so I'm shocked it isn't all over the place. A lie or at least the appearance of something "bad" never stopped the race hustlers.

136 One final point about Ferguson vs South Carolina: when the left is weaving its fabrications the lesson is that we can utterly discount what they have to say since we know they are lying, since they have shown they "can't handle the truth."

In other words never give the left the benefit of the doubt; there is no doubt.

No, sorry. I've run out of stories and really haven't been digging into the new Hollywood books I've bought to mine some nuggets.

I can give you a story about Howard Hughes, who once owned RKO Studios: it seems that Hughes was due to attend a high level pow-wow, and decided to fly himself. So he got behind the stick of a Lockheed Constellation, flew to the meeting, but drove back home to Hollywood with an aide.

A few weeks later, an operations manager at the San Diego airport managed to get the mogul on the phone. "What do you want us to do with that damned airplane of yours?"

There was a long pause, then Hughes muttered, "So that's where it is! I knew I left it somewhere!"

And here's a picture of Hughes' most famous protege, Jane Russell , in 1952s Montana Belle:

My father worked as a driver and aide for Howard Hughes in the late 50s. He had some interesting stories, although he didn't spend a lot of time with the man himself. He DID drive lots of celebrities around. He said that of all the people he drove, Joe DiMaggio was about the only one that treated him like a human instead of like some kind of appendage to the car. Sat in the front seat with him and they shot the breeze as they were going along.

He DID drive lots of celebrities around. He said that of all the people he drove, Joe DiMaggio was about the only one that treated him like a human instead of like some kind of appendage to the car. Sat in the front seat with him and they shot the breeze as they were going along.

Interesting story. The only stories I ever heard about Joltin' Joe was how big of a prick he was. Maybe that was just with media-types.

Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, and Willie Mays walk into a bar. The bartender says "Leave that prick outside." They all leave.

I'm amenable to quarterly payments.

The beauty of it is that ... oh... 75% of people with jobs (otherwise known as 'taxpayers') wouldn't be able to budget correctly for at least a year.

The government would get SO MUCH MORE money from liens, penalties, et al....

Maybe I should just shut up...

166 Vic -- Watched a movie last night I thought you'd enjoy. Set in Wyoming -- I seem to recall you'd like to live there. About a cattle rancher. Titled 'An Unfinished Life' (2006) -- free with Amazon Prime. Conservative theme of taking care of friends and family. Surprising because Robert Redford, Jenn Lopez, and Morgan Freeman star. No gayness, no left wing crap.

I'd give it two thumbs up, but I woulda shot the bear.

169 Good morning, Horde! Ooh, I see there's some Massachusetts childhood stuff to catch up on.

First I'd like to horde-source some PC knowledge. My laptop is dead. I'm pretty sure it's the battery, because when plugged in it will boot up but it dies before I can save off my latest pron I can do anything useful with it.

So when I google Acer Aspire 5517 batteries I get results from $20 to $67. Are there vendors to avoid, to look for, etc? TIA.

170 The left used desegregation as a way of getting their grubby paws on what is supposed to be a State job. Well, they got their "in" and have been taking more and more power away from the states since. Just like they always do. And it's funny that segregation has come full circle now in Ferguson, Missouri, with blacks wanting their own police department, city council, etc. Segregating themselves from whites.

We learned about this a long time ago here. The public schools in Houston were integrated by bussing back in 1966. It took us all of five minutes to figure out that the black kids 1. did NOT want to be there and 2. wanted absolutely nothing to do with anyone of the caucasian persuasion. And by all accounts, with few exceptions nothing has changed since.

I don't see Michelle Obama ever entering the race. She has too much to hide. Plus, she has never held a single public office in her life, and couldn't even keep an entry-level job in the private sector (she was canned from her first, and only, job practicing law).

Michelle, much like Hillary, has only worked because she traded on her more successful husband's name and political connections. She would be a disaster of a candidate, as she is not terribly bright and not quick on her feet. I almost wish the Dims would get desperate enough to convince her to run, because it would be fun to see the public experiencing an unscripted Michelle Obama (which would inevitably happen at least once in a long campaign). The cognitive dissonance that would happen when the myth met reality would be something to see.

172 I'm pretty sure it's the battery, because when plugged in it will boot up but it dies

It might be something other then the battery. Watch the screen carefully as it boots. Stay focused on any error message that might quickly appear during power on self test (post).

Can you hear the fan motor spin up? Because that's something, that if dead, will stop the boot process in some laptops.

173 Can you hear the fan motor spin up? Because that's something, that if dead, will stop the boot process in some laptops.

It boots. I get to windows. Then it dies.

Posted by: Bandersnatch at April 20, 2015 08:41 AM (JtwS4)

174 Can you hear the fan motor spin up?

Gotta answer the question. If that motor ain't spinning the o/s knows to shut down upon a certain temp.

If fan's working then you should do a safe mode boot.

Posted by: SE Pa Moron at April 20, 2015 08:45 AM (xQX/f)

175 FWIW: I think your battery can be shitty, but if you're plugged into ac your computer should still operate normally.

Other possible problems?
Hard drive issue -- too much porn no space left?
Fan motor
Keyboard issue -- all keys working, none stuck

So before plunking money into a battery I'd boot in safe mode and check things out.
