Good morning morons!

Good Morning Morons. Today is Tuesday, April 14, 2015. On This day one year ago the big news of the shooting at the Kansas City Jewish center by Frazier Glenn Cross also known as Frazier Glenn Miller. Every time you read about this crime he is identified as a white supremacist and a member of the KKK my question on that day was if he was a white supremacist why was he shooting white people? Indeed, the white supremacist organization had kicked him out because he ratted them out in order to get a reduced sentence for weapons violations.
At that time I figured that the reports of also being a neonazi were true if he was going after Jewish people. Well it turns out that he was in fact a neonazi as well as a white supremacist. However he was acting in his neonazi persona for the shooting at the Jewish center, even screaming heil Hitler when he was arrested. So why then do ALL of the news reports harp on his white racist background and downplay or not mention at all his Nazi background? The ironic thing is that the three people he killed, including one child were all Christians. The most recent development in that case is that after a lot of foot dragging a judge has ordered him "fit to stand trial". Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at April 14, 2015 06:22 AM (wlDny) 3
The Senate Foreign Relations panel will vote today on a bill that will give congress the final say on any deal made by Obama with Iran. Yes, he will veto it. This kind of agreement is not a deal, it is a treaty and what the Senate should be doing is suing and seeking an injunction to get a ruling on the difference between a deal and a treaty. I view this as grandstanding since they have to know the lawless asshole will veto anything sent to him that isn't veto proof.

Jordan's King Abdullah II said Monday that airstrikes have increased inside Syria and Iraq following the murder of a Jordanian pilot burned to death earlier this year by Islamic State terrorists.
I am glad that there are a few people over there taking action. Primarily this has been Jordan and Egypt. Iraq has been fighting back against them but their efforts have been largely unsuccessful. http://fxn.ws/1CIxHWt Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at April 14, 2015 06:22 AM (wlDny) 5
Navistar (formerly International Harvester) is now making a version of their pickup truck to be used as a military vehicle. Just what the enterprising suburban family needs for that future commute to Wallymart to get past the lawless wildings that the more urban mayors allow to occur with impunity.

The FDA has issued a warning on a dietary supplement said to contain anabolic steroids. They say it can cause liver damage. Do I believe this? Maybe about 5% worth, as I said I don't believe anything out of Washington anymore. Anybody who takes this kind of crap should know they are taking big chances anyway though.

We had a shooting at a NC community college yesterday.
Maj. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office announced that Kenneth Stancil, a bald, white male with a tattoo over his left eye, is considered a person of interest. Stancil was last seen wearing a blue shirt and light-colored pants, and is no longer on campus. I see they have no problem identifying the race of a perp if he is white. http://fxn.ws/1yq4zIr Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at April 14, 2015 06:23 AM (wlDny) 10
A two year old toddler ran out into the road in Milwaukee and was struck by a van. The driver stopped as required and somebody shot him and a 15 year old nearby (probably spray and pray victim). The shooter has not been identified because of "omerta" in black neighborhoods.

Republicans in the CO Senate are taking aim at Democrat passed gun control laws in CO. Since the commie gun grabbers still hold the house there it is not likely they will get these through. CO used to be a reliably red state. Due to migration of locusts from NY and CA who abandoned their States after screwing them up, CO is slowly being turned into another blue State.

Another white deputy shoots a black perp this time in OK. This was an undercover sting operation involving the sale of an "illegal" gun. The deputy was a 73 year old "reserve" deputy participating in the operation. The perp ran and one deputy tackled him and as the struggle started the reserve deputy evidently went to pull his stun gun and instead pulled his pistol instead. I suspect that the race baiters will be out in force. The shooter has been charged with negligent homicide.

The mother who dropped her toddler in to the cheetah pit at the Cleveland Zoo will be charged with child endangerment. Unbelievably she was holding one other child in her arms when she dangled the toddler over the fence. She is lucky that Darwin did not exert his hand in this one. Md legislature has put forth a bill reminding the need for purchasers of new guns to submit a fired shell casing for retention by the Maryland State Police. Sorry I haven't had any Hollywood stories lately. I did just buy a book on the history of the Warner Brothers studio, so if I get anything interesting out of it, you'll be the first to know. Instead, how about a story starring the legendary showman George M. Cohan?
When Cohan was a very young child, his parents made him take vioin lessons, which he absolutely hated, and dropped the first moment he could. After he'd become a great success, he took his father one day to a very posh restaurant. Winding his way through the tables that day was a violininst, playing fancy solos for the customers. "See, George," joked the elder Cohan, "if you had paid more attention to your violin lessons, it might be you who was playing here now." "So it might," agreed George. "But then, you wouldn't be eating here." There are plenty of pictures of Cohan. |Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at April 14, 2015 07:08 AM (irGEw) I know this wasn't your intent, but I have a massive quibble. "Found guilty" implies they were tried, defended, and convicted. CPS determined they'd done something undefinable that they think just has to be bad somehow... That's not 'found guilty'. If 270-some passengers on an A-320 had crash landed in the jungle a year ago, the whole world would have gone ape-shit and rushed to their aid. But, when murdering thugs steal the same number of school girls, mostly Christians, and walk them around in the very same jungle, we throw our hands up and can't figure out what to do about it. It is shameful. Just shameful. Posted by: goon at April 14, 2015 06:46 AM (A53Jp) ********************** I am not making this up. The US will not provide any meaningful assistance because Nigeria will not adopt LGBT-friendly policies. John F*ing Kerry, who by the way served in Vietnam, personally visited to reiterate the point. BTW, the new President, Muhammedu Buhari, was a former general elected principally on the issue of going after Boko Haram. Plus he is personally incorruptible (although the people around him, probably not so much -- it is Nigeria, after all). He was the military dictator for a year or so at one point in the 70's before he was thrown out in a coup because he wasn't spreading the wealth around to the right generals. Despite being a Muslim northerner, he got significant support in the Christian south because they believe he means what he says about hunting down the terrorists and killing them. I believe Buffalo wings got their name for the reason you would think...they were invented in Buffalo, NY. Yep, at The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY, early 60s. It's a Moron-friendly story too. The bar owners' college-age kid came in buzzed with a bunch of his friends as the bar was closing. They were hungry but everything had been put away. His mother pointed to the bucket of wings (left over from chicken dinners) bound for the trash and told him to deep-fry them if they were hungry. So they did. Sadly, if you want to order the traditional Buffalo wings, they have to be specified even in Buffalo anymore. Baked wings, (gasp!) BBQ wings, sweet-n-sour wings...none of 'em are the real thing. Real Buffalo wings are deep fried. Health nuts just have to deal. And they are served covered in melted butter and Frank's Hot Sauce. That's it. Until wings became gentrified in the mid-80s, the only part of your order that had to be specified was: hot, medium or mild. Governing! Congress is facing mounting pressure to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank. Thirty governors sent a letter to members of congressional leadership on Tuesday, urging them to breathe new life into the bank. Eleven Republican governors, including Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin are calling for the banks reauthorization. Tea Party groups, such as Freedom Partners, have pushed back against the business community. They argue Ex-Im is little more than corporate welfare to help big businesses like Boeing. The banks opposition has been bolstered by the likes of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Republican presidential candidates Sens. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Ted Cruz (Texas) and Rand Paul (Ky.). Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker also oppose the bank. The Hill Posted by: Laurie David's Cervix at April 14, 2015 07:39 AM (kdS6q) 134

I did a cruise on the FDR which was commissioned at the end of WW II. It had flight decks built to withstand kamikazes. More like battleship belt armor. Harrier carriers are more like gator freighters (and WW II a/c carriers). Decks may be kinda thin. I have walked across some of them, but never asked how thick they were. EO, not HT or DC, you know.

My husband studies hapkido. It has defense against knives and guns. No knife fighting though. Yesterday, he was assaulted in our driveway after a "gentleman" in our neighborhood took exception to him having the audacity to turn onto our street while the dude and his wife were casually strolling down the middle of it. This jackass gave my hubby a pseudo headbutt and pushed him. He doesn't know how lucky he is that Mr. Deed kept his head. We were willing to let it go, but as the jerk walked away, he threatened our cars and house. Had to call the cops after that. We didn't press charges, but we will if anything happens to our property. Who knew that walking the neighborhood is now a contact sport. Ten years ago, they would have been scraping that dude off the street. Hubby as mellowed. It probably had something to do with the fact that he was in uniform when this happened.

""VTOL is the key to the program."
It was at inception. UK, Spain, Italy all needed a replacement for their Harriers. Their carriers (and planned carriers) all were designed specifically for V/STOL and would be rendered useless without a new airplane that could operate from them. Combine with a strong Marine need for the same, the budget situation of the late 1990s, and wrapping it all up along with a new "low" fighter for the USAF and NATO it was a convenient solution. On paper. Posted by: Ricardo Kill at April 14, 2015 08:12 AM (/00xA) Posted by: steveegg at April 14, 2015 08:12 AM (cL79m) 193
I'm sure you can build a semi-stealthy VTOL for the Marines that would be even better at CAS than the F-35 for a third of the current unit price if you used lift fans instead of the jet blast for the VTOL and ditched the supersonic capability--which would be easy enough if you just started from a different f*cking platform. Then the Navy and Air Force can have their stealthy, supersonic F-35 that doesn't look like it swallowed a second air intake, improved aerodynamics, and probably still increase the internal weapon pods...but that would make too much sense and deny the brass their multi-purpose boner vanity project...

"
I'm sure you can build a semi-stealthy VTOL for the Marines that would be even better at CAS than the F-35" You probably could. Could you get it approved, funded, saved from the budget axe? Big part of the reason they threw in with the F-35. The Marines were succesful with the Harrier in large part because it was "off the shelf" design not terribly expensive. The Navy could jump in at any time and say "they don't their own airplanes, give us their money and we'll give them close air support." Marines are afraid of that. The old adage hold true: Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. My guess is you would need to heavily modify the A-10 for shipboard use--it has a very large wingspan and is very heavy due to all the armor, not to mention the lack of afterburners on the turbofans to add extra thrust for takeoff...
Posted by: Conservative Crank at April 14, 2015 08:21 AM (WUYpW) The wings (at 57'6) would definitely need to be folded, but considering it has the same engines as the S-3 Viking (which has a higher empty and max takeoff weight), it would make it off the deck rather easily. There are factors on how fast any ship can go besides the power available in their engine rooms be it nuclear, gas turbine, or fuel oil. The biggest one is how long since it has had it's hull scraped and repainted. All that crud will act as a lot of friction that must be overcome.
And no matter how much power you have available there is a real limit to how much shaft torque you can apply before you endanger a broken shaft accident which would be a major catastrophe. Posted by: Nip Sip at April 14, 2015 08:33 AM (0FSuD) The WWII-era Ocean, a Colossus-class light fleet carrier, was scrapped in 1962, while the last British carrier capable of handling fixed-wing aircraft other than VSTOL, the Hermes, got sold to the Indians in 1986. The current Ocean is a landing platform-helicopter, and is currently the only British ship that is even remotely capable of handling VSTOL aircraft as the Invincible class has been decommissioned and 2 of the 3 ships of the class have been already broken up. The forthcoming Queen Elizabeth class is big enough to handle standard carrier-based aircraft, but as constructed, it lacks the arresting gear required to recover them. His excuse was that we had to get "something" or Obama would go with executive amnesty. One of these sites touted how he was right about that. I throw the BS flag. Too bad he didn't drown in his own shit.
It gets worse. Big news on local tv this morning, some NJ 3rd grade teacher had her class write get-well cards to Mumia -- the black dude who shot a white cop at point-blank range. So tv interviews a bunch of AA's. They were fine with the teacher doing that. They all spoke in something which remotely resembled English. In other news, the Aaron Hernandez jury has deliberated for 5 days without a verdict. Also, Mookie Betts is fucking awesome.

Poor Mumia.
If only we had executed him at once, he'd not be suffering today. Lefties are so cruel to keep him alive. Posted by: @votermom at April 14, 2015 09:00 AM (cbfNE) 313

I took No. 2 Son to accepted students' day at Bennington College today. It's a very nice high school. No. 2 decided that their writing students are thoroughly unserious and he will go elsewhere. So I told my mother this story and she flipped out. "Do you know who their commencement speaker was last year?" I did not. "They played a recording of Mumia". Posted by: SE Pa Moron at April 14, 2015 08:59 AM (xQX/f) What? The? Fuck? Seriously - In a sane world, the maggots that ate Mumia's extra-crispy corpse would have died a long time ago. Posted by: steveegg at April 14, 2015 09:02 AM (cL79m) 318

WN, I'm going to be flying in to Reagan National. What's the best way to get from there to the bar? I've found a little hotel down the street from the place, which is where I think I'll make my HQ.
Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at April 14, 2015 08:39 AM (zF6Iw) From Reagan, get on the blue line (it's literally connected to the airport) towards Largo. Get off at Rosslyn and go downstairs. Get on the Orange Line to Vienna. Get off at Ballston. From there, follow these directions to Rustco (.3miles) http://tinyurl.com/pw8pqqw Posted by: Washington Nearsider, Keeper of the Guards at April 14, 2015 09:07 AM (fwARV) 322
