Morning Thread (4-6-2015)

A Rolling Stone gathers no firings in anticipation of multiple lawsuits.

1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, April 06, 2015. On this day in 1917 congress voted to declare war on Germany at the urging of Woodrow Wilson. This occurred for two reasons, first Germany restarted unrestricted sinking of ships, including passenger ships, which after the sinking of the Lusitania with 128 US citizens on board the US said was a violation of the rules of war and second after the British provided the US with a copy of the infamous Zimmerman telegram which Germany sent to Mexico inviting them to start a war with the US and they would finance the war.

More on that Rolling Stone mess coming

3 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged the U.S. and other world powers to seek a firmer deal with Iran Sunday over that country's nuclear program and said that he's not trying to kill any deal, just a bad deal.

The key to this is "other world powers", Netanyahu knows that the feckless SOB we have is friend to Iran and other terrorist supporting countries.

8 A Canadian Moonbat wants to put his statue of "Homeless Jesus" in Detroit.

Statue:

http://bit.ly/1a95ktW

Evidently he has already installed it in several other liberal Hells. He has found a donor who will cover the $32K cost and all he needs now is for Detroit to provide a location, free of course.

I think this is wrong. I am offended by this blasphemous turd-bird using Jesus to advance liberal political crap that has NOTHING to do with Jesus' message. Where is the call from the ACLU to sue to remove this crap. Where is the call from militant atheists to get rid of it and fire this guy from any job he has now and will ever have in the future?

10 But they also have reported they intend to take no punitive action against the reporter because she did not intentionally take the missteps that led to the story (single source and unverified). Does that not look like a cop-out to aid in a defense of a lawsuit? Unintentional so Sullivan applies, or in the vernacular of that great Paul Newman movie "they can't win, absence of malice".

Note also that this article is from CNN Money and the last line in it says the President of the University is considering suing them.

Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at April 06, 2015 07:10 AM (wlDny)

11 And here is their printed "mea culpa"; a non-apology apology. It is a very long article that lists a number of failures and gross journalistic errors, but refuses to acknowledge that age-old liberal failure. They allowed their desire to push a Democrat meme to run a story they badly wanted to be true so much that they skipped the rudimentary steps needed to verify the allegations being made. Incredibly, they did not even check to see that if a fraternity party had even occurred in the night in question.

15 We have a wave of States now getting rid of what they call "exit exams". I don't know about this one because it is hard to determine what they are actually getting rid of. It also appears to me to be away to excuse shitty education policies and lazy students. And if these are just policies to get rid of individual class final exams then it truly is BS. In the old days when we had real schools that taught the three "Rs" we had finally exams and, no, you did have to pass them. But they were factored into your overall grade counting a significant portion of your grade. When they were factored into your overall grade you had to pass the class.

17 An ABC reporter gives a very likely reason for the indictment of Menendez on corruption charges (while not indicted Dirty Hairy). It makes it very difficult for Republicans to get a veto proof majority to challenge Obama's illegal treaty and scrapping of Iran sanctions. And what does that imply? It says there are lot of Democrats who have the same type of corruption schemes going that they can be charged with under Obama's corrupt DOJ that he routinely wields as a weapon against his enemies.

An action that Nixon only talked about but which was listed as an impeachment charge. But that is off the table.

20 Army uses "white privilege" in diversity training at Ft Gordon. The Army is "investigating".

The slide was including by a liberal moonbat author and sociologist Allan Johnson. And this is typical of what higher ups in corporate America hire for these types of sessions.

I have sat through many of these and I have found that they are nothing but excuses for liberals to berate "whitey". What they should be "investigating" is not whether he did it or not, I think that will only take a few minutes. What they should be investigating is how moonbats like this are hired to teach troops or whether these sessions are needed at all. I have found that in the overall scheme of things they are actually counter-productive to their stated goals and actually reduce overall morale.

84 It's snowing. The weather service changed their prediction overnight. Yesterday it was five days of snow. Now it's just snow today, cold tomorrow.

It's not unusual to get a spring snowfall around Easter, or tornadoes. I don't want to jinx anyone but where are the tornadoes? Maybe they will still happen, just late in the season. Maybe it's related to the drought in California.

How many hurricanes did we have last fall? I don't remember.

All just evidence that by reducing our carbon emissions we have calmed the severe weather we get from global warming. It's Science!

Or perhaps it is the result of an unusually quiet sun. Quiet sun, quiet climate. Look at all the money California saved by not wasting it on building water reservoirs in the Sierras.

Pretty sure they're not going to pass anyone who doesn't deserve to pass.

FFS, 50% of all male classes wash out for one reason or another.

Look, here's one of the reasons I don't see them making it....biology.

By Week 6 your body starts eating itself to survive. You're down to about 8% body fat by Week 6. Oh sure, you only got 3 weeks left, but the course doesn't get easier. You're out of body fat so now your body starting burning muscle. You are running on fumes those last three weeks. Men have more muscle to burn, so there's still something left in the tank on that last patrol. Women....not so much.

I just don't see it happening. I've been wrong before.

They are replacing competent, battle-tested and loyal decent America-loving officers with political flunkies in dress uniforms.

167 Look, here's one of the reasons I don't see them making it....biology.

I've been wrong before.

.Extraordinary claims required extraordinary evidence which the reporter never had and RS did not demand from her. They failed to exercise due diligence on an explosive story handed to them by a person who should have been suspect in messing with facts after her previous clashes with Editors.

That alone leaves the reporter and the magazine open for libel charges. I don't see anything they will get stuck with criminal wise, but they are on the hook for Civil stuff even with the retraction.

Yeah the amount of women in combat by both the Israelis and Russians is often over dramatized. Yes they serve and served in both Armies and serve well in most cases, but the actually number in combat is not high. MOST served and serve in support roles. And in our Military today the same is true. MOST women serve in support roles. But that is not a knock on women. MOST of ALL of us in the Military serve in support roles and not actual combat roles. I don't have the ratio at my finger tips but it is at least 3 to 1 support to combat in our Military today and I actually think it is higher almost 5-1. And that is no knock on the support personal, hell I am one of them. But let's keep things in perspective

Similarly, Andrew McCarthy should be IG of Justice, Andrew Napolitano at the IRS, and Sharyl Attkisson becomes Inquisitor General of the Press. Mark Steyn can take over the dispensing of University grants.

Just a daydream, yes, but seriously, we need to drive a lot of Progressives from deep in the bowels of American institutions before we can reasonably expect to change. A conservative president will be fighting every step of the way against institutional enemies to get Job One done. Maybe its better to take the battle directly to those enemies first, and make that Job One.

Have the Republican Party collectively failed to figure out that when Obama's proposed Iran nuclear deal comes up, the _best available rhetorical comparison_ is to the extremely similar North Korea nuclear deal arrived at by Bill Clinton?

Which was a weak, naive deal which failed because the Norks contemptuously cheated on it, and which allowed the Norks to obtain nuclear weapons.

But then not only fail to draw that comparison, but also to stack what amounts to an implicit campaign endorsement of Canquelles on top? Words fail me.

Love the Jake. I know it's supposed to be Progressive Field, but Progressive Ins is a lefty-loving donor and I can't stand them.

243 By the way, that Anna visits the Tribe clip has Anna trying to hit like Mike Avilas. That involves a lot of hip movement, which looks good on Anna.

244 Voluntary celibacy doesn't exist in her world...(but I'd bet money she's no stranger to involuntary celibacy, huh).

245 Repost from a couple of days ago, but worth it. Comedian Patton Oswalt is sick of the PC mentality invading comedy so he tells a joke on twitter, then issues about 50 or so tweets fake apologizing for the non-PC aspects of his joke. A smile to start the work day.

FWIW, I truly hope you make it out. We're a bunch of drunken, good-natured idiots who already like you.

And there's hair pulling, 'ettes on trampolines, comment recitation by our own MWR and AtC crashing bachelorette parties.

249 194 I would think that a progressive snowflake would know that Magdalene as prostitute was a myth invented by the medieval patriarchy.

But their exposure to Christian theology is the collected works of Dan Brown. Maybe with an overview of Bishop Spong.

250 Well since the dump is up I am going to take the rest of the day and finish off my taxes and cut a massive check because I screwed up my quarterly payments. And I haven't even started on State taxes yet.
