I was a very rabid baseball fan when I lived in Chicago (I rooted for the Cardinals because shutyourface), but after my mom died, I couldn't watch it for years. I think it's such a quiet and slow game, that I wasn't able to endure it. My thoughts would wander to something sad. I got back into being able to watch it by going to live games. Posted by: Cruzinator Parker and a lot of the Pirates from the '79 World Series team were big cokeheads for a while. His career crashed and burned, and the Pirates dumped him. That's how the Reds got him cheap. He cleaned up, nearly had an MVP season in 1985 and carried the team to a 2nd place finish that year in the NL West. The Parkinson's could be related to the coke use. But I still think that Dave is good guy now, as he donates a lot of money and time to kids in youth baseball. That's all he cares about these days. Duke looks like too much for the Spartans. When their outside game is clicking, and their interior defense is sustained, they are as good anyone. Unless Mich. St. finds a second-half Kemba Walker to light a fire, the Blue Devils will be able to ward them off just by doing what they're doing.

Heh, a lot of players smoked in the dugout throughout the years. I remember Mike Caldwell of the Brewers chuffing away in a game at the Metrosome in MN. You could see the smoke curling out in the still air. In fact, I think this was more common than we'd believe, back in the day. And...GO BADGERS! Tiger Woods having that boulder moved by a group of people under the rule of loose impediment was allowed because of reputation but I get your point. His playing partners should have never allowed it. That's their job to protect the field. They clarified that rule afterwards so no one will be able to do that in the future. Not a fan of gay stuff on my TV but the Amazon tablet commercial last Christmas season struck me in a good way. Hot woman on sunning in a beach chair, guy next to her admires her tablet, so they talk tablets. Finally, she says "My husband is getting me a drink (which by her tone meant, Stop hitting on me!), guy says "Mine, too!" (which I took to mean, I'm not hitting on you, you conceited bitch, I just like your Amazon tablet.).
It wasn't in-your-face gay and it wasn't exactly advocacy. All around, a decent ad. Posted by: FireHorse at April 04, 2015 07:47 PM (2OdVw) 157
LA Lakers with Magic Johnson and the Boston Celtics with Larry Byrd. That was basketball. The fast break runners of the west coast and the half court offense of the Celtics.
Pat Riley for the Lakers, Auerbach for the Celtics. When play on the court degenerated into sandlot chaos the coaches would call a time out and regroup. You could see the effect the coaches had on the game, and the genius of the Lakers players when the plan they were given didn't work because of the Celtics defense and they had to devise a new play on the fly. Riley tried to repeat what he had done in NJ and simply didn't have the players he needed. You could see the stress in his face at every press conference. The playoffs was when it got serious. Same with hockey and the Stanley cup. Posted by: Anne So at April 04, 2015 07:48 PM (wAmJk) 158

I think that's Kentucky's plan, but Wisconsin doesn't make a lot of personal fouls and don't really need Kaminsky to singlehandedly stop Kentucky's big guys, they aren't a big part of Kentucky's offense. Nice story. The only reason Pepsi won a lawsuit to keep it's trademark is because the Charlotte Pepsi bottler never stopped bottling the stuff even in bankruptcy. The Halton's opened a new bottling plant in the 80's the entire Pepsi board came to it. They finally sold the company to Pepsi. It was pretty neat to hear the president of Pepsi tell the story of how the Halston's saved the trademark. I was at the opening. The shit will stunt your growth. 313 Anybody else tired of this guy yet? The word 'fag' can be used properly in a sentence. It doesn't have to be used in every single sentence.

I'm an Iowa Hawkeye, I taught at UK (ca. '95-'99) where I saw them win two (2) National Championships in '96 and '98, but I think it's gonna be Duke vs. Wisconsin in the final.

Why narrow it down to this thread. It's MUMR, with some meth and fag hate added for extra fun. Whatever. Tie game. That's what's important now. Posted by: DC in River City at April 04, 2015 09:47 PM (e+1S5) 337

Just like last week, Wisconsin's opponent shoots 60% from the field and are only tied at the half. That's a bad omen for Kentucky, hard to keep shooting that well.

well my bracket sucked, but I did have Wisconsin over Michigan State in the championship, and got 3 of the final 4 (picked Iowa State instead of Duke. oops). Sparty went down tonight, but could still get the champion right if Wisky puts the first L on Kentucky's season...
