Just Some Good Reportin'

At CBS6 in Richmond -- and I do not think Richmond is some kind of hardcore prog gay mecca -- this is the sort of thing its "reporters" report on their station-promoted timelines.

Here's the original tweet:

By the way, this cockblogger is really scandalized by the fact that the fundraiser was started, if I have this clearly, by someone working for the Dana Loesch show:

Well Alix Bryan can just not believe that someone working for a "news enterprise" is acting like a clear ideological partisan in this matter!!!

And none of her myriad professors and mentors ever decided to tell her; after all, her tuition checks cleared.

18 Alyssa Marino (ABC57) has disappeared from twitter, after tweeting approx 6-8 times a day in the days leading up to her provocative report on the poor O'Conner business enterprise. Where has she gone?

Sabrina Rubin Erdely hasn't been seen on social media ever since her libelous and fictional assault on UVa, fraternities and the male acquaintances Jackie made along her educational path.

Where do these "brave" reporters go? Why do they hide from the ripple effects of the stories they tell?

What about this scion of the Bryan family? Will she stand up and apologize, or will she hide?

I'm thinking that's true. She really doesn't seem to understand much.

The SJWs rose up to ruin, even threaten to kill, these people. They shut their business down, and were determined to harm them. They gleefully thought they were unstoppable.

The other side decided to protect them. We've just about made them bullet-proof (figuratively).

They want to make them suffer. We've made that largely impossible.

They're now seething in impotent rage.

108 Hard to say if she would get fired. Richmond is a fair piece from Indiana. I doubt that there would be much local outrage at her actions. Most would just be inclined to go "Meh."
The twitter outrage, although widespread, is not going to be enough to do it. The station will just hunker down and wait for the uproar over her idiocy to subside.
The only thing that would get their attention would be a lawsuit, and even then their corporate lawyers would defend her tooth and nail.

Posted by: mynewhandle

An interesting math problem would be to calculate the total pizza area vs. the area of each square sub-piece to determine what percentage of the overall pie each square piece must be for exactly 90% of them to have no crust.

For example, if a 1' x 1' square pizza was cut into exactly 144 1" squares, then:

one edge would have 12 crust pieces
the opposite edge would also have 12 crust pieces
the left side edge would then have 10 crust pieces
the right side edge would then have 10 crust pieces

For a total of 44 crust pieces. Which leaves exactly 100 crustless pieces.

100/144 = 69.4% of the pieces wouldn't have crusts.

Based on this example, I think that the pieces would have to be really really small (compared to the overall pie size) for 90% of them to have no crusts.

Posted by: Sort-of-Mad Max at April 03, 2015 05:47 PM (DLu2s)

249 OK, time to get all Fibonacci on this sucka:

With a square pizza of any given size:

Cut into:

1 slice = 0/1 crustless
4 slices = 0/4 crustless
9 slices = 1/9 crustless
16 slices = 4/16 crustless
25 slices= 9/25 crustless
...etc.

From this we can extrapolate that the crustless denominator is always two squares behind the [bottom number, whatever it's called]!!!

So, that's why with 12, it's 100/144. Duh!

So it's easy enough to get to close to 90% this way.

Let's take a jab at:

16 x 16 slices = 256

14 x 14 crustless = 196.

Nah.

Move way on up:

25 x 25 slices = 625

23 x 23 crustless = 529

529/625 = 84.6% == Close!

Try

30 x 30 slices = 900

28 x 28 crustless = 784

784/900 = 87.1 = Closer!

It's probably going to have to be a pizza divided into about 40 squares, at this "tangentially approaching our goal very slowly" rate!

271 100/144 = 69.4% of the pieces wouldn't have crusts.

If we increase the size of the pizza to 18"x18", then you end up with 70 crust pieces out of 324, for 254/324 = 78%

To generalize the equation,
crust pieces = 4 * (x - 1) for x > 1
total pieces = x * x

Where x is the number of times a side is cut into equilength strips.

Then the equation for ratio of non-crust to total crust is

F(x) = (x^2 - 4x + 4 ) / x^2

Solve for F(x) = 90%

(x^2 - 4x + 4 ) / x^2 = 90%

10 * (x^2 - 4x + 4) = 9 * x^2

x^2 - 40x + 40 = 0

Dig out your quadratic equation, and that solves to

(40 +- root(1440)) / 2

So, x = -1.03, or x= 38.97

Some mathematician can explain what the negative value actually means here, but we need an 39"x39" pizza for the 1" square slice scenario, or more generally, a 1:39 ratio for slice edge to pizza edge.

(152 crust slices, 1521 total slices)

Crap, I just realized my error, now I'll be called out for hating on lizards. What's the word I want to use to describe these kinds of people?
Suggestions would be helpful here.

292 To generalize the equation,
crust pieces = 4 * (x - 1) for x > 1
total pieces = x * x
...etc.

...but we need an 39"x39" pizza for the 1" square slice scenario, or more generally, a 1:39 ratio for slice edge to pizza edge.

(152 crust slices, 1521 total slices)
Posted by: ConservativeMonster

THANK YOU, MATH-TYPDE DUDE>

I guesstimated 40x40, and you confirmed it was 39x39, for a perfectly 90% crustless pizza:

39x39 = 1521

37x 37 = 1369

1369/1521 = 90.00%

YES!!!!

293 I doubt Mizz Alix has ever watched The Long Good Friday with the late, lamented Bob Hoskins; great gritty British gangster flick, with extra added Helen Mirrin skin shots. She's kinda living it today.

Anyway, Alix, you poor dear thing, if a car pulls up today to pick you up DON'T GET IN!!!!

294 It's probably going to have to be a pizza divided into about 40 squares, at this "tangentially approaching our goal very slowly" rate!

Answer is 39. Not bad for guesstimating!

297 I gave $20 for Memories, which is what I figured one pizza would have cost.

I may go back for seconds just to stick it to the SJW dirtbags one more time, and if I'm in the area sometime in the future, I just might drop in for a real pizza, provided that the baying progreSSive mob hasn't closed them for good.

Assume unequally sized slices and the job gets much easier.

Cut the middle out and slice into nine pieces, and there's your 90%.

I grant you the crust piece would be a little hard to deal with, though.

307 L'Hopital's Rule needs to be applied to pizza here: While evaluating indeterminate pizzeria h8rs who post Pizza Penises on Twitter, the functions f and g have to be differentiable on the open interval if a limit is to be calculable. Since f and g here are clearly not differentiable, there will be no limit to the calculable h8 by the indeterminate pizzeria h8r.

316 They closed the fund-raiser down...I don't think they want it to go over a million which it surely would. If its the second largest fund-raising effort ever they sure as hell don't want to wake up tomorrow and read that this little pizza shop received a million bucks for a couple of days fund-raising. It would have happened also.

317 Jim in Virginia @ 312: "I am not normally malicious but I'd be more interested in creating misery for the reporter (and the CBS affiliate managers) than in getting any cash out of it."

There are 4 defenses in a libel case:
1) Truth
2) The plaintiff is a public figure
3) Absence of malice on the part of the defendant
4) ??? (Media law not my strongest subject in J-school)

Number 3 might hold some water, but news organizations usually don't like getting for libel. So I'm guessing Alix is done, professionally.

319 and I do not think Richmond is some kind of hardcore prog gay mecca

It is a state capital and home to the 4th District federal appeals court, though it isn't also a college town. Still, you put that many politicians, lawyers and lobbyists (though I repeat myself) together, and you get a rich Communist commune, sort of like NoVA really.

320 The Gofundme campaign brought in $842,387.00. If they want, they could probably retire for a good long time. Probably not permanently, but they could at least take a year off and decide what they want to do. Or, they could be exceedingly brave and re-open.

I am thinking Memories Pizza should re-open and video tape every single moment of harassment. They should no longer do ANY catering, so no one can come in and ask them to cater their wedding. They should just serve pizza in the restaurant, period. If someone comes in to bait them, harass them, attack them, they should simply smile, not say anything, and make sure it is all recorded on video. Every single second. Let the left be seen for the thugs that they are.

Either way, they have to decide if they are going to be martyrs or not. It's up to them.

As far as Ms. Alix goes, well, she tweeted some very rude, crass stuff, and she does not come across as a professional. If I were this news channel, I would fire her for being unprofessional and foul mouthed. Who in their right mind would tweet a picture of a sausage pizza with the rather crass description when said tweet is associated with a work twitter account? This woman brings disgrace to her employer, so it is probably time for her to go. She's just gross!

326 Alix Bryan looks like a baby dyke. NTTAWWT.

This all reminds me of the Argentine Christian men locking arms and praying, in a human chain around their cathedral to protect it from the vandalism and obscenities of the women attacking them, spitting, hurling obscenities, showing their tits, carrying on like the creatures in a Bruegel painting of Hell.

327 Using a twitter account associated with your employer to spew this sort of dreck? How does a professional put their employer at risk like that? Let alone their own job.

I'm sorry but if your job is in the media, you don't use social media for anything that isn't professional unless you have a desire to be unemployed.

Beyond that, she's an adolescent idiot. I'd fire her just for that, let alone her false claims of fraud, etc. I don't care if she apologized all day long, she'd get a perp walk the moment that she showed up on the job.
