1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, April 02, 2015. On this day in 1972 actor Charlie Chaplin returned to the United States for the first time since being labeled a communist during the Red Scare in the early 1950s. Liberals do like to call that the "Red Scare" to hide the fact that the communists did in fact permeate Hollywood and the Department of State. Charlie Chaplin may not have actually been a member of the Communist Party but he certainly sympathized with them and hung out with them as friends and confidents.

The free expression tunnel has been at NC State for decades. I was a student there in the 1980's, and it was a rite of passage to paint the tunnel. If there was something offensive, you painted over it! This stencil idea to frame it is bullcrap.

Good. I was this close to breaking my no politics on Facebook rule to answer one of my many friends who posted about this yesterday. One of them was a female to make trans person whose politics I usually ignore but there were lots of others. Lots. So many others.

The gov of arkansas last I heard just sent the law back to be tweaked but I'm not sure if they did anything else last night.

As I said the other day, the new legislature attempted to ban California wine (but didn't have the votes) so I wouldn't be surprised if the law itself really did need tweaking.

Why? The same kind of thing happened in AZ last year, when our state tried to pass a RFRA. It went through the legislature, then the gaystapo got into the act and started screaming about how AZ is full of anti-gay bigots who just wanted to deny services to gays, etc., and Jan Brewer caved and refused to sign it into law. (She and Mike Pence purchased their spines at the same soft-serve stand, apparently).

AZ was just the warm-up act for these fascists. They saw what tactics worked best, and ramped them up for the next state that dared to try and protect its citizens from gaystapo lawfare.

Probably one who goes out and waters the lawn and washes the car too. When I lived out there if they caught you doing that they would put an orifice in your water line to limit flow to a trickle. The big reservoirs like lake Berryessa were running about 15 feet lower than normal.

Like I said, this is nothing new but they have plenty of water for the delta smelt. We also had a group of "green turds" who wanted to drain lake Chabot to return it to "nature" even though that is where most people in Oakland/Castro Valley got their drinking water.

I am friends with one of my mothers best friends on FB. A nice lady, but as batshit lefty as they come. And getting a big ass teacher pension from the unionized state she retired from in her 40s.

And she will post from time to time some of these seriously anti-religious things. The other day it was a cartoon, lab coated man saying sorry kids, science is cancelled, your parents decided to believe in magic instead. With a drawing in the back of a molecule organized around a cross.

Just after that she posted something about Indiana RFRA being practically the next Holocaust or whatever.

I get that she is Leftist and batshit and my mother will NOT go near her politics stuff on FB. They agree to disagree.

But here is the dilemma. She is bent out of shape about some made up harm to hypothetical people (no one in Indiana has been discriminated against due to RFRA and they never ill) but she is perfectly willing to purposely insult people she knows, cruelly and casually. My first instinct is to ignore it because comity. But she thinks that calling my mother (and me) stupid is perfectly acceptable. I am thinking punching back twice as hard is necessary here.

Don't want to curdle my moms friendship with her friend, but this is why these people feel like they can just say hey let's go burn down this restaurant. Because we don't want to offend. They don't mind threatening.

I'm going to try to take deep breaths and just back away from this entire issue, if I can. It feels like last year when all of a sudden I had to know who owned the LA Clippers (including learn that they exist) and the status of his divorce. It's been foisted on me.

I don't know what's in the Indiana RFRA that makes it different from the 19 other state and one federal RFRAs. I don't think the substance is important. I think it's been ginned up because the Outrage Industry needs constant fodder.

As to "who said same sex marriage would have no impact on us", I contend that's still the case. There are, I believe, a vanishingly small number of wedding service providers who will refuse the business on religious grounds and likewise a tiny minority of same sex couples who would harass them over it rather than find a compliant vendor who actually wants the business.

The Washington cake case was brought by the government, not the couple.

So all this issue does is gin up emotions. And the backlash brings out the anti-gay animus in ways that I find upsetting and appalling.

257 Businesses have to jump through so many hoops nowadays one more "purely formal" act means nothing. When that turns into a legal requirement no-one notices much. Businesses are so stricken by rules and regulations they can barely function and getting through the next quarter is what they focus on.

You can blame them for selling out, but the ones still active have to, and have had to as long as they have been functioning.

The only hope some of them have is to get so embedded into the ruling and legislative class that they become indispensable. They can't all employ the children and useless relatives of pols at the level the pols believe are necessary, so they perform work in kind: pushing for regs, property tax, bond issues, new infrastructure for the city, county and state, you name it.

Most business owners are in it to survive, not make a point. You can call them cowards, but what do you do?

And there's the problem with the backlash. Just as an Akin tars the conservative movement, the GayKK tars the gays whom we know and respect and love. It gins up hatred, and I can imagine it's very hard for people like AtC to not take the backlash as an attack on them personally.
