JUSTICE DEPARTMENT WILL, GET THIS, NOT SEEK CONTEMPT CHARGES AGAINST LOIS LERNER

The masks are all off now.

The DoJ won't press contempt charges against her for her busted attempt to plead the fifth (Here Is a Statement of Alleged Facts I Want to Introduce Into the Record/Having Done That, I Now Say I Don't Want to Speak for the Record).

Supposedly the DoJ is still considering bringing some sort of charges against her over the Tea Party Targeting.

Sure. I'm sure Eric Holder and Barack Obama want to get right to the bottom of the conspiracy they were participants in.

And everyone said I was being pessimistic when I said nothing would happen to Lerner.

The Congress has NO power. All of it's legal remedies must take place through the action of the DOJ. If the DOJ refuses, there is no remedy for Congress except for Impeachment.

This is the ONLY legal action that it can take on it's own without material support from the DOJ.

And even THAT could be ignored because who would enforce their ruling? If they impeached Obama, how would they enforce it?

I think that's one reason why they won't do so because they are afraid that if they convict him, he will refuse to leave and then we'll have a REAL Constitutional crisis that has no solution in the case of a criminal DOJ.

97 The New Black Panther Party case told me all I needed to know about this bunch. Every left-wing president would have gone after them -- and hard. Because (a) they're small fish and (b) to shore up their law-and-order credentials for the mushy middle and (c) to show the rest of the left that Obama's in charge and there will be no dissent from the party line.

In any other administration, with any other skin tone, this would have been a disaster. Left wing groups would have started to act up and agitate over any number of things, especially "warmongering". The newspapers would be full of tut-tut articles, even from lefties.

But these guys bet, rightly, that Obamism would protect them from most American institutions.

By now, the halo is (literally) off but we are in the situation where so many people are invested in Obamism that they can't let go.

In any other administration, you'd ask "Who is Lois Lerner related to that the administration bends over backwards for her?" Indeed, someone like her would be a scapegoat, easy to shove under the bus and blame for all of the scandal.

But they're rewarding loyalty now. They are in a situation where they just say "turbulent priest" and get a dead priest. That's the kind of behavior they're rewarding.

Of course Lois Lerner won't be charged. Because then we might find out who in the Obama Administration told her to do it.

You know Lois Lerner wasn't acting on her own because she is not getting charged.

Department of Injustice determined laws don't apply to liberal democrat party hacks like Lois Lerner.

"I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of tone
Stand in the desert. Near them, one the sand,

Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Loom on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

205 So the weak excuse from the House GOP on impeachment is, "There's no point. We can impeach Obama here but there aren't the votes in the Senate to remove him."

But as usual with the House GOP, that's not the point.

When Clinton was impeached, there weren't the votes in the Senate to remove him either, and there was no realistic possibility of switching enough votes to do so.

What happened was that the House set forth a clear case that the President was guilty of criminal abuses and should be removed. The House impeachment managers clearly made that case before the public, and put it on the permanent record.

That President wasn't removed by the Senate -- as was entirely predictable -- but despite that tawdry "triumph" over his adversaries, consider what happened to that President's party in the very next Presidential election.

When that President's VP went on to lose the election in a squeaker. As the guy who won the election later said, it was amazing, because as the challenger, he had been "running against peace and prosperity".

Some of that subsequent loss was due almost certainly to a lingering sense of unease and disquiet among voters. Recalling how an obviously guilty President had been given a casual pass on his criminal misconduct by members of his own party.

So impeachments do matter and they are consequential even if they do not (and can not) plausibly result in removal from office.

Always remember that from Q1 2014 onwards and inclusive, you need to subtract roughly 2% from the official GDP figures to get the real number.

Because the Obama administration rejuggled the computations at the end of 2013 to artificially make their anemic economic performance look better.

The corollary here is that any GDP growth figure under the new system that clocks in under 2% by a measurable margin would have been reported under the old system as in recessionary territory.

Um, NO.

the reason for the low interest rates. (manipulated by the Fed) is to keep our debt payments low as we're already spending too much money.

If interest rates ever reach what they should be, the Federal government (that's you and me) won't have the money to make the payments and will technically be in default.

THAT'S why they're keeping the interest rates low.

324 In all seriousness, I fear for these people.

Learner, Holder, Reid and number of others are criminals that should be held to account, but within the system we've established and according to the laws of the land.

There are people who take these affronts to the law very seriously and when the system doesn't work they feel powerless. Especially when it appears that those who should be upholding the law flaunt it, regular people begin to wonder if there is any law.

We've all seen the stories of "regular, nice people" who snap and do thing they never would have done in normal circumstances. Of course, when something like this happens, everyone remotely associated with their politics gets painted with the same brush.

Yes, these administration criminals deserve punishment, but not the type doled out by those who think they're acting in the public interest.

You're both right.

Low interest rates favor government and existing businesses, at the expense of the middle class, and saves / retirees. It also hurts banks, but they get bought off in a million other ways so it works out for them in the end.

Higher interest rates lead to / show more growth, but are problematic for progressive politicians and for government borrowing.

Having a central bank plan are of this based on the whims of the banking cartel and the government... now, thats just priceless.

It was a crises in the BANKS... not a crises in the Economy... and note, it was the BANKS who got all the money from the bail out... and used it to consolidate the banking industry...

Not one single damn derivative was ever purchased with that money... as we were told it was going to be used for...

I talked with an M.D. who has spent her entire career here in Commiefornia who said that she finally had to quit taking Medi-Cal patients in her office.

It wasn't so much the crummy reimbursements. It was that the Medi-Cal patients were constantly trying to scam her for publicly subsidized painkiller prescriptions for vague unverifiable maladies. Whenever she told them to get lost, they were likely to start filing complaints with the state medical board alleging racial bias.

This particular patient population also turn out to be statistically *extremely* likely to file malpractice suits. Who knew?

What the DoJ is doing is using the sheer size of the potential investigation, with thousands of potentially affected claimants and so thousands more in potential witnesses to be questioned, to deliberately assign totally inadequate investigative resources to the task. Holder knows full well that at the current pace the DoJ investigation into the potential victims is bound to take well into next year; hell, with the current resources, it could easily take into next decade.

What the DoJ is doing by announcing they're not going after Lerner for contempt, that's totally for the Dem base, which includes a huge per cent age of federal government workers. This announcement effectively forces GOP House leaders to put before the House a vote on whether to proceed against Lerner in the federal court system.

But we know from the history and progress of the Dems when they were in the majority trying to go to the courts to get after then-AG Alberto Gonzales that it takes YEARS to go that route to a conclusion, and that if an election intervenes and a new Congress gets sworn in, they have to start all over again. And that problem is only made worse by the fact that Lerner didn't just leave the IRS, she left the civil service completely and retired. That was part of the Bush administration's strategy for dealing with Schumer and rest going after AG-AG: that it no longer qualifies as "Oversight" once the officer leaves the service, and has to be dealt with consistent with the US Code as a matter of criminal perjury or obstruction of justice; mere "contempt" doesn't cut it any more.

424 and of course, the Republican establishment wants to get to the bottom of it, too. LOL! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?

The Republican party establishment was involved in the targeting Tea Party groups, too. They were involved in this up to their eyeballs. Do I have proof? Nope, but they aren't doing anything to get to the bottom of it, and they also benefited the most from the targeting. They hate conservatives more than they hate Democrats - wait! they don't hate Democrats! They ARE Democrats! Dang, this is getting so confusing.
