1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, March 27, 2015. On this day in 1915 Typhoid Mary entered her second quarantine after having been identified as a healthy carrier of the typhoid disease. She was an Irish immigrant who worked as a cook for numerous families and the disease followed her everywhere she went. She remained in quarantine for the rest of her life.

After her death in 1938 an autopsy showed that her gall bladder was riddled with the disease and it was active. The fact that she did not believe in washing her hands when preparing meals did not help a lot either. Health authorities used her as an example of what not to do and unhealthy habits. It is ironic that the idiots running the country now have forgotten all these lessons.

2 While the Choom King has been actively trying to give Iran everything it wants they have been going on a massive naval buildup drive and threatening the US and other countries in the region. And Obama knows this.

3 Fascist principal at a school in Tennessee forces a child to have his head shaved to remove a "high and tight" military style haircut. She told the mother of the child that "it was against the rules". Investigation by the local press found that, in fact, it was not. It sure would be nice if you could sue idiots like this personally and not punish the taxpayers.

4 Two engineering students at George Mason University have invented a device that uses low frequency sound to fight fires. Of course once their device is fully patented and developed they will have to spend years and hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting all the alphabets like the EPA and OSHA in Washington to get to market it. Fascism is the enemy of innovation. The students most likely will be forced to sell their patent to a conglomerate with a stable of lawyers or to a crony of a Washington big wig.

5 De Commio says that big apartment building fire yesterday was most likely caused by a gas explosion. A lot of us suspected that, but what caused the gas explosion? Con Ed had been working on an upgrade to the gas main but their work had failed inspection. I suspect that lawsuits will grow like kudzu on a Mississippi telephone pole.

6 A Senate Republican has changed his name to Din Quixote <sarc> and has introduced a bill to eliminate federal workers spending their day working for the union instead of their real job which they are being paid for. This action was passed into law in 1978 when the Democrats owned everything, including 61 votes in the Senate. So why hasn't it been removed when the Republicans got majorities?

10 MSDNC needs to be a little more circumspect about who they put on air to trash Republicans. When you have an outright racist making absurd statements it can backfire and an already failing enterprise can fail.

MSNBC apologized after a guest said, "nothing says let's go kill some Muslims like country music."

Ebony.com senior editor Jamilah Lemieux made the comment in regards to presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz's remarks on CBS This Morning that he switched from rock to country music after 9/11.

13 Financial Times article overlooks the obvious on the "vanishing secretary". Typists and secretaries are vanishing from the workplace primarily due to the use of computers by the work team. That and more recently the implementation of Obamacare has caused a drop in permanent hired people. This liberal magazine does mention the use of "word processors" but doesn't place much stress on it and fails to mention Obamacare at all.

If we had an opposition Party the budget for these trips would be cancelled out and his sorry ass would have to either pay for it himself or stay at home.

16 You have heard me say many times that the stock market is really not a direct indication of how the economy is doing. Also, I have said that the market is irrational a lot of times but I thought it was due to the big name fund managers buying and selling to make quick profits. Perhaps on that score I was wrong, in a way. Some experts are now saying that the market has actually been rigged by both the Fed and foreign banks. And they put Martha Stewart in jail.

17 A student group bill pushed by a freshman moonbat has been passed at NY's Ithaca College. It sets up an "anonymous" reporting system for "micro-aggressions" by privileged class people against non-privileged class people.

Q1: When did student groups start running the colleges in America?

Q2: Does anyone EVER look at the moral implications of this kind of fascist crap, much less the Constitutionality?

Answer to both; They don't give a shit. And they also make the claim that since Ithica College is a private school they are not bound by the first amendment. I have some news for whatever idiot came up with that. The Supreme Court ruled long ago that colleges who have students receiving financial aid from the feds fall under all federal mandates. (This was Title IX litigation that the liberal moonbats wanted so it is biting this group in the ass.)

21 Scott Walker spoke to the AZ Chamber of Commerce and barred the press from the event. I am kind of in the middle on this. Of course the press will misquote him and make up shit. But intentionally antagonize them is not a good idea. Maybe the best strategy is to do like one public utility did with 60 minutes, film the event yourself so you can fire back at misquotes and made up BS.

23 Mike Pense has signed the Indiana "Religious Freedom Bill" making it law. I am sure the Gaystapo is solidly opposed to it, but if this statement is true it is not really a good bill. It leaves it up to a judge to decide if one's religious freedom is being challenged.

For example, the law could permit business owners who felt that being forced to serve a certain customer in a particular case violated their religious beliefs to appeal to a judge. The courts would then decide if their objection was valid or not.

Liberals are very good at judge shopping. Supporters claim the bill was modeled after the "religious freedom" federal act, but that act took the opposite approach. The court had to apply strict scrutiny on why there was a compelling interest to override someone's first amendment rights.

24 Scott Walker has hired former Senator Jim Talent as a foreign policy advisor for his election team. In his favor the "On The Issues" site rates him as a hard core conservative and he is opposed to "pathway to citizenship" so at least we have that. But I am not sure I would rate a one term Senator who lost to Clair McCaskill and was on the losing Romney team as a good foreign policy advisor. I wonder if he approached the mustache?

25 Here are the House members who voted against the "doc fix" bill. Mine voted against it. I am kind of ambivalent on this bill. Yes, it is a budget buster and they did not offset it by cuts in social programs in other areas. But docs are losing money on Medicare even with the temporary fix that they have been doing every year. The real "fix" is to totally repeal Obamacare which created the problem in the first place. So once again more laws to fix problems created by previous laws and the vicious circle continues. So maybe I am really against it.

61 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Thanks for the news, Vic.

No Ziegfeld Girl today, because it's the birthday of Gloria Swanson, once one of Hollywood's biggest silent stars, but given a debatedly new lease on life when cast as insular, desperate, deluded silent star Norma Desmond in the classic Billy Wilder film Sunset Boulevard.

http://goo.gl/61mYQP

During the filming of SB, a friend asked William Holden if he'd managed to bed Swanson. No, Holden replied; he was too busy staying out of the clutches of Swanson's mother, who wanted to bed him!

Fora brief period early in her career, Swanson was part of Mack Sennett's "Bathing Beauties" crew, but she always denied being a "Beauty" herself. Here she is, though, with the tragic Marie Prevost* on the left:

http://goo.gl/whQOD5

*Prevost was a successful actress during the silent days, but a drink / wright problem limited her work during the sound period. Distraught and broke, she died of acute alcoholism in 1937. She became notorious in Hollywood legend as having been eaten by her dog, who was starving as his mistress lay dead on the floor. The truth was that she had only superficial bites; the dog had tried to wake his poor dead mistress by nipping at her.

Here's Swanson with Carole Lombard:

http://goo.gl/AVqfg0

Her image, once she hooked up with director Cecil B. DeMille, was of the impeccably groomed, radiant, glamorous STAR. Here's two examples:

http://goo.gl/XjR9MA

http://goo.gl/3998bX

As for myself, I like her in this picture from 1928s Sadie Thompson, one which I think shows off her quirky beauty and astonishingly clear eyes:

http://goo.gl/xrcK7H

This picture, from 1923s Zaza, isn't much to speak of - but, oh, those shoes and stockings!

http://goo.gl/hINBZ5

Speaking of pictures, here's one I've shown before. I'm using it as an example of how glamour photography can evoke complex and contradictory feelings. This is Norma Shearer - star and wife of MGM producer Irving Thalberg:

http://goo.gl/ym8qcj

The idea, of course, is to present Shearer as the ultimate "consumer good;" a lithe, highly dressed and perfumed charm for a man to have on his arm. A very sexual, desirable woman (note the long, satin-clad legs and the way her robe is arranged to mimic deep cleavage). But to me, it's also a depressing photo; the sidelong look of Shearer, away from the viewer, gives off a "stay away" vibe: Of course you want me. Fantasize about me all day long. But you can never ever have me, little troll."

Anyway, hope some of the pictures were ones you enjoyed. And I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

88 The doc fix has been carried forward for 17? consecutive years--I remember it being discussed as unsustainable when I started med school, and that was a dozen years ago (dear God, where has the time gone?). The problem comes from the government's advisory board that sets the prices for procedures and other uses of doctors' time in order to standardize payments. However, it has utterly failed to keep up with advancements in care (it used to be a couple hours to do an upper and lower endoscopy, now patients are cycled out in about 20 minutes).

Also, big surprise, it was originally conceived so that doctors with administrative duties (i.e. NOT patient care) would be "fairly compensated" for the time they spent shuffling papers.

I strongly doubt it. It's easy to forget that the world still has a plentiful supply of plain, old-fashioned wackos who can and do flip out for mundane reasons unrelated to hot-button issues.

Tempting as it is to pin a case of supposed mass murder on today's whipping boys -- who, in many cases, deserve to take the fall for destructive actions -- it should be remembered that some people are still triggered by relationships, money, work stress and/or their own twisted perceptions of the world around them.

103 The doc fix problem relates to a budget cutting measure in 1997.

So, its origins have nothing to do with Obamacare.. except.. Obamacare designers decided to completely ignore this problem which Obamacare should have really fixed permanently.

They didn't, because adding the permanent doc fix into Obamacare would have thrown off their already fake numbers saying Obamacare was going to help reduce the deficit.

Hey! This is actually good health news, curmudgeonly reporter Vic notwithstanding.

I'm not sure the coconut oil (which is good stuff anyway) matters as much as the refrigeration. Same thing works - cook, cool - on potato and other foods to convert some of it to 'resistant starch.' (Benefits remain when the food is reheated.)

Getting dumped is my first guess when there is a suicide but doesn't really explain why he took the whole plane with him.

And As mentioned , European. Not necessarily gay.

165 I, for one, fail to see the problem with sex parties for Federal Agents.

It is a common tactic used by intelligence agencies to infiltrate target groups. You need to appear to be a drunken, drug addicted agent who can be bought if you are going to be a double agent and infiltrate the target group.

So this is all a plot by the CIA to build up a cover story as they attempt to embed a double agent in the drug cartels.

No need to worry about this. All those debauched and drunked Secret Service agents, or DEA, or any of the other alphabet agencies like AT&F are secretly working for the CIA.

Until recently, rather much was made of his technical philosophic differences with Church doctrine (especially if all your Saturdays for three years were spent in "Small" Catechism class...), but 99% of the Reformation was late-Holy Roman Empire politics, nothing more or less. There were a lot of budding Henry VIII's then.

That Palatinate state has a rather smaller Muslim footprint than other parts of Germany, but hey, one radical mosque is one radical mosque. Less Lutheran than the North of Germany, pretty heavily Catholic (almost half), but the big deal is it was Homeland to many many of the Amish. 253 WASHINGTON -- Senator Harry Reid, the tough tactician who has led Senate Democrats since 2005, will not seek re-election next year, bringing an end to a three-decade congressional career that culminated with his push of President Obama's ambitious agenda against fierce Republican resistance.

Mr. Reid, 75, who suffered serious eye and facial injuries in a Jan. 1 exercise accident at his Las Vegas home, said he had been contemplating retiring from the Senate for months.

My mom, always a Democrat, has become more radicalized the last few years. It's disturbing. She tried to throw up a "quote" ostensibly from Jimmah about Ted Cruz and how can he talk about cutting money from welfare and such and still call ourselves a Christian Nation? That one - said by actor/comedian John Fugelsgang to a Rep from Tennessee. I pointed out that beating a strawman is easy and she took it down.

She once said she was interested in hearing all points of view, and who did I read? I gave her Thomas Sowell, she replide "never heard of him". Oh boy.

And even better, in that expose Beck did on Grover Norquist's ties to the Mo Bro Hood (which included Tokyo Rove in a BIG way), McLame is also implicated. He had photos of himself with Muzz radicals, which he quickly tried to explain away after the "I don't know everyone who gets in a photo with me" excuse didn't work.
