Hot new thing in Istanbul: androgynous male belly dancers, says WSJ. There, haters. You've got your answer about Moderate Islam Icism. Turns out, women weren't allowed to do the belly dance until after the Ottomans fell. Male dancers are part of the noble Ottoman conservative culture, don't you know. It's back.

In Big Tent news: Vulnerable House Republican Illinois Rep. Robert Dold continues to inch closer to the left end of his partys spectrum for political survival. He was one of just three House Republicans to vote against a repeal of President Barack Obamas health care law in February. In January, he was one of 26 Republicans to vote against defunding Obamas Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. On Tuesday, Dold signed on to co-sponsor the Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act. The bill would expand background checks for all firearm purchases and it is endorsed by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Well, the GOP will get him back in line. "Seeking to bolster Dolds chances, the National Republican Congressional Committee added Dold to its Patriot Program, which provides fundraising and strategic help to the most vulnerable GOP House members." How does this: http://bit.ly/1AZP1Fs or this: http://bit.ly/1AZP2t2 or this: http://bit.ly/1AZP309 Actually prohibit a future administration from disagreeing with future administrations? I just discover, much to my surprise, I live in a Federally designated Food Dessert. There are at least 5 grocery stores within 2 miles of my house and yet, apparently, much of our neighborhood is suffering obesity from living such an enormous distance form fresh veggies. (which, get this, makes no sense at all) As it turns out, the bar is pretty low. You only have to have a high percentage (undefined) of residents without access to a car, which we meet thanks to the numerous apartments with 3 families of illegals in each unit. Also you only have to be 1/2 mile form a store, about the width of my residential neighborhood
I'm wondering what Fedral goodies I will be eligible for. I have no doubt the illegals will be getting something, once they are officially New Americans. I want my share of the loot. Posted by: George Orwell de Leon at March 10, 2015 07:23 AM (1BQGO) 67

no, the Hillary thing reminds me of 1993-94.
First, we found out that while Hillary was gallumphing around the country accusing the pharm industry of price gouging and excess profits, it came out she had money in a private fund that had sold pharm stocks short. When she was asked why she didn't have her money in a blind trust, she replied that she wasn't a federal employee and didn't need to do so. Then, we got the Hillary health care commission. When someone asked who was on the commission, as federal law required, we were told the law had an exemption for commissions had only had federal employees (or maybe government employees) as members. So how do you know if all the commission members are gov't employees if you can see the list? Oh, and all of a sudden Hillary was a gov't employee (thank you, judge James Buckley.) This is the same issues with canckles-at-canckles-dot-com. She can say she released all the emails but we have no way of knowing what was there to start with. And when it turned out that the Hillary health care commission had a lot of non-gov't employees, the response was, well, it really wasn't a commission, it was really just an informal network of study groups. Expect people like Carville and Chris Hayes to fight for Hillary to the bitter end. Posted by: mallfly at March 10, 2015 07:34 AM (bJm7W) 89

OK then, gun thread. I recently bought a 9mm pistol in hopes that it could become my good, low-cost carry gun. I haven't had time to check it out yet, but assuming it runs reliably, I'm now having doubts about the wisdom of getting a CC permit for it. Given the true nature of our government as recently revealed, a CC permit could just mark me for confiscation soon. Posted by: Cloyd Freud, Unemployed at March 10, 2015 07:35 AM (lG2E3) 93

There was some exquisite Schadenfreude on Morning Joe today. Howard Dean was trying to defend Hillary and was being roundly mocked by all parties, including Eugene Robinson (who admitted astonishment because he nearly always agrees with Dean). Dean claimed to not be familiar with basic aspects of the story, including that she had her own server in Chappaqua. He said "I think she just set up her own ISP, but it could have been in the State Department. Anyway, it got so bad that Joe asked if he were working for Hillary. Dean said "I support her, yes". The defense did not rest, it collapsed in tears of shame. Posted by: Bandersnatch at March 10, 2015 08:20 AM (JtwS4) 205

Saying he was unaware, didn't know the rules, didn't email Hilalry etc... all expsoes him as weak, , detached, incompetent, not really in charge etc... The MSM and Obama sycophants will have to spin this carefully for those paying attention. Not that the LIV's will understand any of this. They are as stupid as Obama assumes. We have no opposition party...." Might need to moderate that attitude just a bit when you move to the Texarkoma area. Just like I was registered Democrat when we lived in Chicago, I switched right (and gladly) to Republican when we moved back to Oklahoma. For the same deady practical reasons: The primaries are where the election takes place in one-party areas. Posted by: mindful webworker - all politics is local at March 10, 2015 08:23 AM (oqhrS) 214
