I know it's ridiculous to make arguments based on THE CHILDREN, but seriously, I would be aghast if I were changing with my daughters for the pool and a grown man came in waving his dick around. We had 10 true/false, 10 multiple-choice and 5 short answer questions. Then the final question was answered on stage by the top three finalists.

Plus we educated the audience with posting the answers after our judges graded the students.

We had a federal Senator shop up at the end to meet the winners, and get in their pictures. The Kansas Secretary of State gave the keynote speech.

It was a classy event -- and then there was me, right in the center of it all.

That database skews Scandi. My Dad who could walk into any town in Ireland and be considered a native, came up Scandi.

The database is over-populated with Scandis because folks around here (it's a Utah company) are encouraged to do their family histories, which skews the results.

I know I have some Scandi, because of the Van Dykes that I found, but they were many generations back, so 13 % is high for Known Scandis, but it's possible.

But I'm half Mexican and it came back 19 % N.A. and 24 % Iberian Peninsula, which is about what I thought it would be.

Only 2 % British is the only thing that seems weird. The easily traceable family goes back to there, but there are lots of other bits of the family that trace to Germany and other parts of Europe. Well, Prussia, as it were...

But...like...there are Scandi people there, but the main source of Scandi DNA is Norway and Sweden.

And yeh, the Van Dykes traced back to Amsterdam. Moved from there to New Amsterdam, strangely enough.

108 They way they do the DNA thing is they are showing maps of where ppl with this DNA came from. They have 3 layers on the map to show "mostly from here" vs. some vs. few.

So "Scandi" could have come from Denmark or the Netherlands. But then you look at the Western European map and that shows that the majority of ppl in the Netherlands are considered Western European.

I think I need more coffee to make it clear...
