21 Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, March 06, 2015. On this day in 2014 the news was that unidicted felon Eric Holder's corrupt DOJ had started a civil suit against the Philadelphia school district for religious discrimination against a muzzie who had been told to trim his beard to meet the school's dress code (or else). Funny how Eric "The Felon" Holder never had a case of religious discrimination against Christians or Jews. Anyway by September the school district had caved to his bullshit lawfare.

239 House members (Republicans and some Democrats) have sent a strongly worded letter to the ATF about Obama's illegal .223 green tip ammo ban. How about defund the SOBs you chicken shits.

Obama's response via his propaganda arm:

We are looking at additional ways to protect our brave men and women in law enforcement. This seems to be an area where everyone should agree that if there are armor-piercing bullets available that can fit into easily concealed weapons, that it puts our law enforcement at considerably more risk.

Note that law enforcement has already said that these bullets do not increase the risk to police. IOW, this is a blatant lie. Defund the ATF.

87 The churn buries the 1st term scandals so deep in the shit that, ... just like in the Clinton days... it becomes impossible to ask them about or hold them to account because everyone gets overwhelmed ... soon the MSM will be ready to " move on already" and any attempt to hold anyone accountable will be seen clearly as part of a conspiracy to dig up settled issues... sound familiar?

88 Reminds me of the tail-end of Clinton's second term.. "

Or the latter part of Carter's (thankfully) only term.
IMO, it's mostly due to the total lack of leadership and vision from the top, so the various underlings all vie for attention and favors...
Of course, this also means that a real opposition group could pick off each new bloom of idiocy with much fanfare.... nah. Too easy.

Here, have some Tang.

No, there is a major campaign on by the anti-death penalty advocates t eliminate the death penalty by forcing the drug makers to quit producing the drugs.

That is why AZ (?) recently went back to firing squads. This is what GA should do. Either firing squads or hanging. The problem with hanging is that there are no longer any trained hangmen in the US and to do it right it is complicated.

Yes, exactly.

The GOP has its roots in progressivism as well. They too believe in a powerful central government. The only difference is that they believe they are better at running it than the Dems.

Goldwater and Reagan were total flukes. The dry rot has eaten through to the vitals ever since 1913. The Reagan years halted it for nearly a quarter century.
Imagine what he could have done if he had the backing of most if not all of his party?

Well, the GOP is finished. It is equally a part of the problem as are the Democrats.

The question is can we take back the GOP or is a 3rd party viable, and if so when?

Also, if we have a 3rd party can we attract disaffected Democrats (not leftists)?

Questions, questions.

A lot of people have quit voting because they believe the system is rigged. They're right, and damn it, they beat us to the realization by years.

Something that offer a legitimate choice will get a lot of support from people who had given up, and if we don't offend them by letting it be painted as a SoCon movement, it'll draw disaffected Democrats too.

Drop the Conservative label. Drop the social issues, use the 10th Amendment punt and say that all of them should be solved at the State level. Let's talk policy, because when it comes to policy, we're the only side with ideas that actually work!

Just barely. I used to be able to walk 2.5 miles in a half hour so it could be done.

5 hours => 7 miles and hour, 3.5 miles in a half hour.

Depends a lot on how rough or straight the route is.

But I think these walking to work stories are made up anyways. And not because it can't be done but because there's no rationale for them to do it.

Plus walk 10 hrs a day and then work so there's 18 hours minimum that leaves only 6 hours to sleep and do anything else you need to do. Maybe for a few days but not day after day.

On the old XP desktop, I still run Opera 12 browser. I have toolbar buttons to quickly toggle javascript, plug-ins, and cookies on/off. As a rule, these are always off. Without those on, you don't get pop-ups or auto-play. On frequently-visited sites, I can set up preferences to have some or all of that stuff on regardless. Old Opera v12 has become unusable on some sites, though. Like XP and the box it's in, O12 is increasingly an anachronism.

Although I have tried various post-v12 Chrome-ized Opera browsers on my and milady's tablets and cells, I have not found a similarly easy way to toggle the activities or set individual site preferences, and I run with all the vulnerabilities open. So, yeah, hate the auto-run videos. Especially sidebar ads that shout at me.

Some sites are refusing to go to the trouble of making sure everything works for every browser. Especially I.E.

since I'm running XP, I can't get the newer I.E. so I have to use Firefox (which is more up to date and been that way longer.)

I think a third party that talks common sense and doesn't piss too many people off really has a shot at drawing - while not a majority - a large enough minority to be a legitimate challenge in or even win a three-way race.

I also think that within 2-3 election cycles, the Republicans as the Democrat Party (Part 2) would be revealed as the complete sham they've become and fade into history.

A law that retroactively assigns a sunset clause to every law and created regulation would be brilliant. If it's worth keeping, Congress will sign off on it.

Another law should be the No Omnibus law. IE, only the item specified in the law is to be voted on.

I think the only program that has kept right on chugging through all the changes is Forte Agent for email and newsgroups. But then, what that program handles hasn't really changed in decades.

They won by smearing Romney, and they did an effective enough job at demonizing him that Democrat constituencies thought the world was going to end and we'd have a Mormon Spanish Inquisition if he won. Or some shit like that.

The threat of him winning kept them united, even the ones who weren't thrilled with Obama. The same "Lesser Evil" stuff that works against us works against them.

Suppose Hillary's new scandals led to the Left's juggernaut completely falling apart. What would we do? Would we just hand Boehner the Presidency and go "Yay, team?" No, we'd probably still be trying to get rid off his ass.

They're like the amoral, twisted, wannabe-ruler mirror universe version of us. If they didn't think we posed a real threat, they'd be on an ideological purity kick. They'd be going "what's wrong with you Democrats? We don't have to play anymore, we can run a REAL Communist and get this party started."

Or is he just a front man selling his sister's influence to some shadowy Dem opportunist Halliburton?

Does Haiti actually share in the profits of this thing? Do the toxic wastes and tailings from these mines get safe handling, or are they just spread out over the already poisoned and de-fertilized Haitian landscape? Are the tunnel miners earning a liveable wage?

And is there any actual gold in Haiti in the first place, or is this a San Sebastian fraud all the way down?

At ground level, there's no love between the black and hispanic blocs. It's a huge problem in Los Angeles, where the black and hispanic gangs are in open warfare, and there's a lot of resentment in the non-criminal community as well. It goes as far as some no-shit ethnic cleansing in the neighborhoods, at least of the non-violent variety.
Admittedly, LA is a fucking dump, and would be so even if you magically solved the ethnic problem. Now if we're talking pure political alliances, that's another thing entirely.

And I still wonder where the server(s) were physically located - having them in her house not only is a security risk in terms of accessibility, it puts them at risk for other sorts of things like flooding, fire, extreme temperatures (if power goes out), etc. That's why companies that store proprietary data contract w/facilities that specialize in totes secure buildings with temp control, fire prevention, locked cages, heavy 24/7 security team, etc.

I don't think she'll ever believe she has enough.

Here's just one example: After Hillary was elected to the Senate she bought herself a huge mansion in DC (spent around $7 million for IIRC). This was after the funny business loan she an Bill had taken from the now VA governor (forget his name) to buy the Chappaqua home. However, she could now afford her DC house because she had gotten that huge (record) advance for her biography.

And what did Hillary do after purchasing that mansion? She registered for furnishings - furniture, rugs, everything she needed - and asked her friends and supporters to furnish her new home. Oh, and please do so before I'm sworn in to the Senate so that she won't have to report these gifts.
Greedy. Entitled.

Police in London will not talk about it but allegedly are trying to intercept the goods and confiscate them. And then what. Return them to who? What government or agency do you return them to?

529 The press has a hard-on for royalty. They want a King they can stalk and suck up to, like the UK press does with theirs. They've been trying to substitute celebrities for nobility for years, but they want the real thing.

It's not "the press" though in the relevant Venn diagram, there's a whole lot of overlap. It's Progressives. Because nobility keeps things neat. Progressives *need* a class based society. If "all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights" then most of their crap doesn't sell.

For a long time, class based on wealth worked. But then nasty stories about people who grew up poor became rich kept getting out, and undermined that argument.

Then, for a long time, class based on race worked. But (despite the JEF's best efforts) most of our society is now fairly heterogeneous- which undermines that argument.

(Neither has completely gone away, of course, but even LIVs recognize that, for the most part, institutional racism is a thing of the past, and (again: for the most part) the biggest thing holding down "the poor" is *not* some massive conspiracy among the rich).

So... nobility. They want class based on birth again.

Because as long as we're a class-based society, you can always gin up hatred and fear between any two or more classes.

I'd also say that a class-based society gives wanna-be's an "in" group to belong to. The power to Other-ize also has a "be one of Us" side.

The media wants to be part of an Us - as do all the wanna-be pundits, consultants, aides, lobbyists. As do the illiterati in Hollywood and the crit theory jock snitters and diversity outreach consultants in academia.

Progs in general want to belong to the Aristocracy of Smart Sensitive Sharing.

It's silver or lead - a fluffy cocoon or the cold shoulder.

570 Yesterday it was 80 degrees. Today the high is in the 40's.

With the warm up this week, the owlets were being fed a steady diet of snake. So that was good.

A friend "joked" that stray kitten season is coming. I don't even want to go there.

571 Nice little summary of some of the corruption of the Clintons, esp. for young peoples who don't remember all of the crap from the 80s and 90s.

And some of the older folks who don't remember stuff from then or even last week...

574 64 As I said, the knives are out for Scankles. She will NOT get the nod folks. She is hated by too many people and she has too many skeletons hiding in her closet.

After 2012, I have a feeling the D's can nominate an empty suit and win. Wait didn't they do that already?

Imma gonna guess that EVERYONE is pissed at the unions for shipping every wino, teacher and junkie available for $20 and meal voucher to shut down the capitol building for a week and found a way to express their displeasure.....

And the Dems know this and want to keep their jobs and cushy appointments.

579 Sefton@291: Obama has already confessed he speaks ZERO foreign languages. Right after he scolded lazy Americans for not making the effort to learn a foreign language to better heal our tarnished world reputation.
