1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, March 05, 2015. On this day in 1770 the Boston Massacre occurred. Five Americans were shot by British troops in an event that would contribute to the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. This event was much like the stuff that went on with the Occupt agitator of today, only they had troops then who would shoot to kill.

2 Another great foreign policy triumph for the choom. A top Iranian general who helped kill American troops is leading the Iraqi troops fighting ISIS now.

11 Another superbug outbreak in Los Angeles. Gee, I wonder why we are getting all these new outbreaks of diseases lately. And I seriously doubt that it is caused by these medical devices they reference here. Devices do not manufacture germs, they have to come from someone with the germs first and the device may act as a vector.

17 The Justice Department announced Wednesday that it will not prosecute former Ferguson, Mo., police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of an unarmed black 18-year-old, while also releasing a report faulting the city and its law enforcement for racial bias.

Gee, I wonder why because it sure as hell is not because Holder has any scruples. Perhaps it is because they are worried about a "malicious prosecution" lawsuit that would not be paid for by the taxpayers.

They make a lot of noises about the so-called hands up don't shoot liars but no prosecution for them either. They are not Martha Stewart.

19 No shit story of the day:

The Supreme Court appeared divided Wednesday along ideological lines after hearing a challenge of ObamaCare tax subsidies that, if struck down, could affect up to 8 million policy holders.

The liberals on the court quit ruling in accordance with the law and the Constitution soon after the court was packed by FDR. It will be "interesting" to see the arguments they put forth to support Obama's clear violation of the written law.

29 This is sickning:

On Tuesday, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officials revealed that the agency processed nearly seven million immigration-related applications in just one year alone (fiscal year 2014). Because the agency does not have the resources to conduct in-person interviews with every applicant, officials noted that applicants for President Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood (DACA) program did not have to go though face-to-face interviews before being granted temporary amnesty.

IOW blanket approval without any investigation. What could go wrong with this? But any bad impact, including mass death from terrorism is a feature not a bug for the current congress approved dictator.

57 from Matt Bai, yahoo news this morning:

It's doubtful that many voters care as much about Hillary Clinton's State Department emails as reporters do. They're probably not too wound up over the foreign contributions flowing into her family foundation, either.

Cumulatively, though, these latest headlines about Clinton, along with other stories sure to come, reinforce her vulnerabilities as a candidate. Democratic primary voters are about to be reminded on a semiweekly basis of what left a lot of them so ambivalent about Hillary in 2008 - namely, the perception that the Clintons are like an unregulated industry within the party, impervious to scrutiny and contemptuous of anyone who would get in their way.

And this is why, if I were Joe Biden, and if I still harbored designs on the Oval Office down the hall, I'd be inclined to ignore what the insiders were saying. I'd run, and I'd run now.

Presuming that to hit the really big show grant money, you need to have that porno-play angle, so might as well cast-call for that sector now too. And thank you, but in that dept I am very gainfully employed, and do not really want to be on the interview committee either. I'm sure there will be volunteers...

Let's relax with a picture of one of WWII's most popular pinup girls, Marie "The Body" McDonald, here in 1947s Living In A Big Way:

She was married six (or seven) times (I forget) and had an interesting fake kidnapping scandal in her career. I'll try to put something together over the weekend to post on Monday.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Not that they are impossible to find.
But suddenly, they are much more difficult to find.

The odds of picking a perfect bracket for the NCAA men's basketball March Madness championship tournament are a staggering less than one in 9.2 quintillion (that's 9,223,372,036,854,775,80, according to Jeff Bergen, mathematics professor at DePaul University.

"It would be easier to win the Mega Millions lottery two times in a row buying one ticket both times than it would be to get a perfect bracket," Bergen determined. "Getting a perfect bracket is also the mathematical equivalent of picking the winning party of each presidential election through 2264."

"It would be more likely for the next 16 World Series to be won by the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox than it would be to pick a perfect bracket by guessing," said Bergen.

Meanwhile, silly girls:

A feminist group wants to remove the image of Andrew Jackson from the $20 bill and replace it with a picture of one of the many illustrious women from American history. The nonprofit Women On 20s thinks the centennial of womens suffrage, 2020, would be the perfect opportunity.

Plenty of women, the group argues, deserve to be immortalized on our money more than our seventh president, Andrew Jackson, whose Indian Removal Act of 1830 resulted in the deaths of thousands of Native Americans on the Trail of Tears.

Last month, Women On 20s introduced 15 female candidates to replace the 19th-century statesman: Alice Paul, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Sojourner Truth, Rachel Carson, Rosa Parks, Barbara Jordan, Margaret Sanger, Patsy Mink, Clara Barton, Harriet Tubman, Frances Perkins, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Voting began on March 1 to coincide with Womens History Month. After garnering at least 100,000 votes, the nonprofit intends to introduce its proposal to the White House in hopes that President Obama will take executive action.

Unless Obama wants US troops working with Iran's Revolutionary Guard. There might still be a risk of another Iranian Hostage situation so it might be best for all US personnel to leave Iraq, unless Obama wants another hostage crisis. 151 Morning, Glories!

Just read up through #83. Takes a lot longer to read through the comments when I also tangent off to actually read pages to which Vic & others link!

Not very long ago, the Winter sun as seen from our house was rising well south of the big arbor vitae near the shed. Then it was rising behind the shed. Then it was rising behind the water tower north of the shed. After not seeing the sunrise for several days due to the overcast last gasps of winter, today I notice it's rising well north of the water tower, getting near due East (duh, it's almost the equinox).

The rapidity of the sun's progress northward this time of year is always surprising, and encouraging, heartening, that Spring is Here! As if the budding trees, wild garlic sprouts sticking through the snow, and flocks of screaming birds weren't clue enough.

Day before yesterday, we saw a bunch of those thieving bully Blue Jays hassling a pair of would-be-nesting mockingbirds. Today, a screaming murder of crows could be heard, intertwined with hawk screams; I've seen those two groups fighting in our trees before. Blue Jays and Crows know how to gang up on others; paint your own sociopolitical metaphors, I'm gonna grab some coffee.

You know, when I was a senior in High School, my English teacher assigned us the book "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. She sent home a note to our parents first (remember, we were Seniors, the youngest of us was 17) informing them of the book and some of its more objectionable content.

Our parents had the option to say, "Not for my child" and request a separate reading assignment.

Our town being ultra-conservative, they did the same thing with sex-ed in 6th and then again (don't ask me why) in 9th grade.

Here's the thing- that's pure bureaucratic BS. Parents aren't going to make their kid be "that kid" who didn't get to participate, or (worse) risk getting the teacher annoyed at their kid, so they sign the form and send it back. I think we had exactly 1 kid in my entire class (graduating class of seniors clocked in at ~300) whose parents refused to let them take sex ed through the school. None of our parents said no to Pillars of the Earth.

So even if this creep sent home a note (I didn't read the article, I don't know if he did), it's BS- he knew the vast majority of the class would be reading the assignment.

Little VIA had a fresh run in with another Substitute Teacher last week.

Seems that the teacher was showing a movie concerning illegal immigrants coming in across our unprotected southern Border. Of course, the movie was about the tribulations of the poor downtrodden just being held down by the patriarchal racist white mans legal system.

So Little VIA asks the teacher if the movie isn't really teaching students about just ignoring current laws, and doing whatever they wish to do.

Turns out that the movie also was not on the approved curriculum, nor the the course teaching guide.

Lots of us lawyers here in the Horde, Sefton...I'm sure we could put together a good in-house department.

Well, the good part is that he's already dead so no new victims. Like RWC I was curious about how "bad" this poem could be. Public school after all, right? Wish I hadn't.

Sick, sick twisted disgusting MF'er.

Lots of good things at Katz's, however, I'm not a fan of the pastrami.

They hand carve, while I prefer a machine-shaved cut. It tastes different (better).

241 The red maples were trying a couple of weeks ago. 8 degrees did them in.

That's what I love about Red Maples, they're one of the first signs of spring. Along with wintercress plants, in these parts.

Not that we're close to seeing either yet around these parts.

249 The paranoia and need for control that Hillary has is astounding. She couldn't even have an official e-mail account to handle all of the unimportant minutia of her office (which in any bureaucracy takes up somewhere north of ninety percent of the communications) and reserve the private one for all of the underhanded stuff (like normal politicians do).

Hillary Clinton - Like Dick Nixon without the charm, talent, youth, and ability.

254 VIA, part of the sanctions on Russia for the Ukraine involved firearms. I don't know if that included C&R class weapons. It may be part of the problem.

At a minimum, I suspect vendors held shipments until the actual regulations were written and understood.

255 My theory is that John Kerry, who by the way served in Vietnam, is the leaker (or someone who works for him). The incriminating leaks on both the e-mail story and the foreign contributions story involved inside State Department information. We already know that his judgment is wildly out of tune with normal people (See, e.g., James Taylor). He thinks he is going to get a nuclear deal with Iran, and that's just the tip of the iceberg for a comprehensive peace with Iran. It would have been Arab-Israeli "peace," but that Netanyahu keeps getting in the way by insisting on the survival of his country. So it's a Nobel Peace Prize winning deal with Iran, just in time for the 2016 primaries. That, and global warming. He thinks if he takes Hillary! out he's going to be the next President. Reporting for duty!
