The Investigator Assigned to Find the Lerner Emails Must Have Been Blind to Have Missed Them For So Long
Update: He Was In Fact Legally Blind

The right man for the job, if you don't want the job done.

Also legally blind: The entire White House, which claims, through its new spokesman Jen Psaki, that they have no ideas about the motive in the murder of an American-Bangladeshi writer previous threatened with murder by Islamists for his allegedly unislamic writings.

Oh yeah: He was hacked to death by several men armed with knives. His wife was present at the attack; her finger was severed in the mayhem.

But Psaki has nothing to "ascribe" to the murder.

QUESTION: So on the Bangladesh murder --

MS. PSAKI: Yes.

QUESTION: -- does the -- is the Administration at a point where it can ascribe any kind of motive to this? Do you believe that it was anything more than just a murder? It certainly seems that the circumstances surrounding it would indicate that it is.

MS. PSAKI: We donít have more information at this point. We, of course, will provide consular assistance as is appropriate. Weíre also Ė stand ready to assist in the investigation if asked. Clearly, we know his background, which was why I outlined it, but donít have anything to ascribe in terms of a motive in this case.

A-level people surround themselves with other A-level people. B-level people surround themselves with C-level people; C-level people surround themselves with D-level people. Obama surrounds himself with Marie Harf and Jen Psaki.

Psaki, Harf, et.al. were unswayed by the murder of a US Ambassador (an act of war) as well as numerous Americans - including journalists (their kind of people) - being publicly beheaded.

My guess? They stick with the administration's line, that they condemn random "extremism" where ever it is. Because face it, Obama has no more elections, so what does he care if one of his young techie donors is slaughtered?

National degradation. No more, no less.

Sub-mediocre people placed in charge of the most powerful country in the world. Who abuse their power like no other regime in the history of that country - without consequence.

Abuse criminally (as in IRS case), or constitutionally (too many to mention).

No guard rails. A Chief Justice capable of making the blindingly idiotic comment that his job is not to rescue the voters from their decisions (when that, of course, is entirely his job - as arrogated to his instituion by Marbury - when the constitution is being violated).

The Harfs et al - hell, the president himself, an embarrassing, ridiculously uneducated and unworldly and classless and unsophisticated spectacle - are just the symptom and beneficiaries of a degraded civic culture, not the cause.

(and there were foreshadowings - Jamie Rubin was equally ridiculous many times during his preposterous time as US spokesman - I remember his fumbling around in furious disarray when someone askeda simple and devastating question during the Kosovo cluster-f**k, and he (!!!!!) literally said he wouldn't answer the question, because it was "too polemical" - showcasing his intellectual limitations, as he was looking for "tendentious" - the State spokesman refusing to respond to a question .... simply jaw-dropping)

Some of us Soviet-focused Cold Warrior sorts used to muse about political culture, puzzled at the seemingly infinite passivity of Russians in the face of their centuries of oppressive misgovernance.

When these 'new Americans' come out of the shadows, the communities in which they've been placed will be designated as 'receiving communities.'

The 'new Americans' are considered 'seedlings' by the White House and the 'receiving communities' are the 'fertile ground' to nurture them, according to comments made during the meetings.

Citizens will then be pushed into the shadows as the 'New Americans' come out of the shadows.

A question for any lawyers reading this.

How long is the statute of limitations for this sort of thing and when does the clock start? Does it begin when the crime occurred or when evidence of the crime first came to light? If the latter, does that mean that if you can hide the evidence until the statute of limitations expires then you can publish it and dance a victory dance while singing a couple of verses of "Guilty as sin and free as a bird"?

Yes, from the time that an event has occurred.

Without a trial, there is no determination that an actual crime has been committed by a specific individual. Hence, the word "Event"

They did.

285 Our system works when all three branches and the states actively try to increase their power while defending what power they have. When that is happening, each is a check on the other. Unfortunately, two of those have decided to relinquish that power and cede it to others. There is some evidence that the states (or some of them) are striking back. Little evidence that Congress is pushing back.

-----

I can almost convince myself that the best long-term answer for the country is that the Dems retain the presidency so that Congress (and the GOP - assuming it runs it) is forced to defend itself without any illusion that they can reclaim the Presidency.

Which goes back to the point I have made that "serve at the pleasure of the President" positions need to be pushed down a few more levels. The Democrats will vote for it because it gives them more patronage positions to reward party hacks (remember the White House Travel Office?) and Republicans should vote for it because it increases their chance of getting control over the bureaucracy if there is ever another Republican President.

Who rehired the fired IRS and State Department officials? How can those individuals be fired and kept out of government for the duration of the next Republican administration?

For the State Department people, my modest proposal would be to reopen the US embassy in Yemen and stock it entirely with people who I would not mind seeing dead.
