I can't recall what Ace's grade was but I think he gave it something akin to an A-/B+ and I'd agree. On Fox News, in the Politics Section, is an article about the imminent take over of the internet by the FCC. In the article is the offhand comment that 'New America Open Technologies' requested a last minute change to the impending regulations.
Who is this 'New American/OTI'. http://tinyurl.com/onrwv94 First, remember that words mean what ever is needed at the moment to soothe the angst of the restless masses. Secondly, the important point about this whole circus act is this : A federal agency, under the direction of the President, has assumed for itself the power to regulate the internet. This sets the precedence; after this, any Federal Agency can assume for itself the authority to regulate anything. This also illuminates the abdication of power by Congress who has for decades written blank check 'enabling' legislation that says, essential, that the Executive Branch of the Federal Government has the power to write regulations (law). Which is why we have EPA, OSHA, etc and so forth to infinity and beyond. Bank Regs? Fin-Reg? Let the President determine. Health Care? "As the Secretary shall determine". Waivers? Sure, "As the Secretary shall determine." It's like Congress has written enabling legislation that says, in effect, Mr. President, you will establish a new Federal Department. You will call it "The Ministry for Crime Control", and you will write laws as needed to control Crime. You will define what crime is. You will decide what to do about it, and you will decide what the penalty for the commission of a crime shall, be and you will then decide when and how to enforce the law you write. You, Mr. President, must do this because Congress will not take the time, and can not reach an agreement on the meaning of words. I always thought, and still think, that Tom Cruise is a better actor than the material he chooses. Soon, he is coming to the end of being a viable young action star/leading man. Just for future further argument (in the sense of "design of an epic poem") which is absolutely foreordained in a forum such as this, I'm pretty sure the Cato Foundation is only indirectly named after the Romans pere et fils. But in this case congress did not write regulations to establish Internet regulations. The Dems tried but never got it passed. The FCC was established by FDR to take over regulation of radio so he could squash his enemies. And in this case Obama is just coninuiing his illegal actioins. The Supreme Court has already struck down this BS once. He is going after a second run on the same thing? And why not, nobody will do a damn thing about it unless they have deep pockets to take it to court again. Obama has taxpayer pockets so no shit off of his ass when he loses. The old Classical Allusions are flying thick and fast in here this morning. Reminds me that they used to teach Latin in junior high, instead of remedial English in college... Taylor Calwell admired Cicero so much, she made him into a kind of proto-Christian. It's a great book she wrote, but the more you get to know the guy, the more you realize he was just a lawyer. Obama is announcing that he won't deport illegal aliens under existing court orders of deportation -- he'll just ignore the court orders because he doesn't personally agree with them --, he's flatly refusing to enforce existing immigration laws, he's threatening retaliation against any LE officers who dare to try and enforce existing immigration laws, he's secretly meeting with illegal aliens to plot strategy, he's announcing to illegal aliens that they're "entitled" to as much as $35,000 per illegal in back "tax credits" (thinly disguised welfare payments from the U.S. treasury to low-income filers) for the years they lived illegally in the U.S. and illegally didn't file or pay any income taxes . . . . The courts and 'executive amnesty'. A Federal judge has enjoined the Federal Government from implementing Obama's executive amnesty.
What does that mean. First, Obama declared that Federal Agents would not deport people who had no legal right to residency status. Secondly, Obama, by executive fiat, declared those people to be legal residents and granted them the necessary 'permit' to reside and work in the US. Third, Obama explained that any Federal Agent not doing what he, The President, had ordered would 'suffer consequences'. Fourth, there is no legal remedy for the removal of a president short of Congress declaring that the president is no longer president, and then what? Who has the authority to physically handcuff, and remove, a president from the office? That is where we are headed. Two years from now, we find out, and it all depends on the whim of B.H. Obama and what he decides to do at that point in time. Posted by: Bollixed in Buffalo at February 26, 2015 07:08 AM (79HbD) 83

It was a push from big users of bandwidth like Google and Netflix to get equal rates of little users despite their internet bandwidth hoggishness. Currently they are charged by the amount they use, they wanted a fixed rate the same as ma and pa Kettle. Congress said no way jose. Despite all the bribes they paid to sellouts. So now they are making an end-run around congress with crony corrupt Obama. He tried to inflict this BS once before and the courts shut it down. Yahoo mail has been giving me fits and starts lately.
But, one of the error codes is explained in one location as "Nothing you did, try again later", but in another Yahoo answer, it is explained as "You may have tried to log into your email from a different computer". Remember the relatively simple method of hidden communication by two people just using the same email account, and working with a draft email? Never actually sending it, just calling it up from draft, add to it, and put back in draft. Sounds like that may now trigger some automatic attention getting. Or, it could be nothing. A couple of guys, friends of my old man, had what sound like similar jobs to Johnny Cash's job. They spent a good part of their twenties sitting in a Berlin bunker listening to Soviet communications and dictating real time translations to secretaries sitting next to them. A third person would type up the shorthand and voila!, old-school real time intercepts ready to read and act upon if necessary.
Unsurprisingly, both guys married their shorthand takers, cute young German chicks trained In shorthand by the US guvmint. And the Russkies finally cratered, so (until Obama) we thought it was a happy ending for all. Posted by: MTF, High Horsin' at February 26, 2015 08:08 AM (OxYQ1) 192

"VIA, let me guess this um Brony-kin was full on Brony-tard in talk, in dress, and such?"
I don't know, as she was in the video section when it happened, and I was in the GameStop section. She came back over and said something to the effect of "You see that walking freak show over there" pointing to a fairly tall, long stringy greasy haired dude needing a shave and wearing a trench coat. Something about being in line in front of her, and asking about the latest MLP release, and getting a sad when the answer was "No". Me...I had some Asian kid start pointing to some characters in the screen, and giving me the rundown on each and every one of them. After about three minutes of this, he paused and asked if I knew anything about the characters. My answer was something along the line of "I don't pay attention to this sheit, and am just dropping stuff off for our son". He waled over to the other side of the store after that as if I had just kicked his little whatever fantasy critter in the nads, and then stomped on its head. Well "He wailed over to the other side of the store..." works also.
It seems no one is capable of accepting criticism of their favorite show because well you are kicking them in their psychological self-esteem nads. Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at February 26, 2015 08:24 AM (CF4F1) 211
Anna,
The comment about the kid and his critters is not to be taken as a slight. I know you enjoy things like that, but this kid was like in worshipful happiness. One foot in a pile of unicorn shit, and the other ... well, I don't really know where he would have put the other foot. Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at February 26, 2015 08:24 AM (YrXgo) 212

--- VIA, the Baltimore Convention Center will be hosting BronyCon this summer. We triple dog dared a coworker to go last year and get us a t-shirt but he wised up at the last moment. I think 11,000 people showed up. I bet there were some scared, scarred little girls and their parents at that convention. Another coworker was at a sports bar in the area and got to see some bronies get sloshed. You can't say those weren't some brave freaks, to go out in public in full drag like that. Posted by: All Hail Eris at February 26, 2015 08:28 AM (KH1sk) 213
VIA, no I do not like MLP because I really object to the Cutie Marks. When a pony gets its Cutie Mark that is it because that mark will tell that pony what it will do for life. Kinda anathema to the concept of Free Will ain't it?

All Hail Eris, two years ago at a Cups in central Mississippi there was a twenty-something woman out in public as her wolf persona, yeah she had her wolf costume on. I think it was jarring to her concept of being a trend setting rebel, me being older and supposedly not hip, knew all about what she was doing because she did not really want to talk.

Of absolutely no importance whatsoever--despite all evidence to the contrary, my heart is happiest when I am in an official capacity/position in regards to the defense of the Republic. I am happiest being a public servant, for it is my natural home, to be an officer of the Republic, of some sort. My first, best destiny.
