2 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, February 23, 2015. On this day in 1927 Calvin Coolidge signed a bill by Congress that established the Federal Radio Commission. It was later replaced by the Federal Communications Commission) which was advertised to regulate the use of radio frequencies in the United States. The FRC already did that. The actual reason FDR created the FCC was so he could use it to stifle his critics on the radio by pulling licenses.

I do think the question is is SNL relevant as a barometer/mirror of the culture. I think it most certainly was in the Chase/Belushi/Murray years, and perhaps into the mid to late 80's. For the youth of the mid-late 70's (like me), it was our show. Remember, this is pre-internet and cable TV so to us it was a big effin' deal to have a show that was aimed directly at you.

Wife had it on. Not funny, mostly a sad variety show with people impersonating skits from dead comedians. With the exception of Garret Morris none of the black alumni did anything that might be regarded as a skit. Wife said they'd asked Eddie Murphy to do a Cosby bit so he refused to do anything at all except come out and say Hi and thank you, basically. Maybe the others did the same in solidarity...

I honestly think that the GOPers should freeze out the national media for a week or two. There's no need for Walker or Jindal or Haley or any of them to talk to the national press right now. Governors should talk with their local press and any friendly media types out there (I guess that'd be Fox Business, Levin, Rush).

They (the MSM) need the GOPers more than the GOPers need them (this far away from the election).
