Overnight Open Thread (20 Feb 2015)

I'm not going to watch the Oscars this weekend but I hope this happens. Why 'American Sniper' will ambush the Oscar Best Picture race.

Now, for a bit of humor, here are 9 military categories the Oscars forgot.

And then there is Canadian Sniper.

Launching An F-14 Tomcat

How to successfully get launched off a carrier at night in a F-14 Tomcat. There will be a quiz on flightdeck nomenclature later.

Science

I find it ironic that in an article that states that throwing science at anti-vaxxers just makes them more hardline, the author goes on to pretty much equate climate change deniers to the anti-vax crowd even while noting that "the most scientifically literate are also some of the strongest climate change skeptics". Scientific consensus on climate change my ass. A truer statement would've been to equate the AGW crowd to the anti-vaxxers.

Climate change and terrorism. Yeah, not buying that. The claim that the Pentagon is overwhelmingly on board with the climate change group is BS. They're just dancing to the tune that the political bosses are playing. A change in political bosses will get you a change in tune.

80's Teen Movies

Manufacturing

Obama's carbon rules could cost thousands of manufacturing jobs in your state.

Syndicated TV Shows

Did you ever watch a rerun of Seinfeld or something and thought the episode felt sped up? Wonder no more. How cable networks speed up shows to squeeze in more ads. Now if they speed up the commercials, they could fit even more in.

Sport Team Name Origins

Strange but true stories of how 18 sports teams got their names.

Baseball

With baseball season upon us, I found this to be a little interesting. Here is why baseball managers wear a uniform instead of other attire found on coaches in other sports.

John Carpenter

I've always liked the scores John Carpenter did for his movies so it was a pleasant surprise to find out he released an album late last year of some unreleased music. This song is pretty good. It's like a cross between Jan Hammer (Miami Vice) and Halloween.

Police Dog

Florida police dog fired from the force after biting an officer, doughnut shop worker. I'm betting it was the doughnut shop worker bite that brought about the firing. Just a hunch.

15 This Marie Harf story seems like one of those stories that started at one end of the line sounded one way only to emerge at the end as something else.

I came across a story a while back that sort of described ISIL recruitment as being based on the "frustrated job seeker" paradigm, but of course it was much more nuanced than the 'rubes' at the State Dept could possibly describe in one sentence.

It seems that ISIL recruitment is based on offering quick advancement on multiple levels:

1) you get to shoot up shit. This includes multiple weapons of various sizes, including knives and fire. Targets can be cars, buildings and live people.

2) you get money .. lots of money by basically stealing it .. or extortion .. but hey, you're on a "mission from Allah."

3) you attain social success by getting the women .. sure some may be slaves but remember, 12th century standards apply here.

4) you get to be in the inner circles of power in the IS, which includes trucks, homes, etc.

To say that you can counter this kind of salesmanship with a "jobs program" is like saying you can clean the Capitol building with a toothbrush .. it can be done but your going to need a shit load of toothpaste.

I've just got the regular dvd (about 3 of them)... and yes, Morricone's soundtrack is absolutely killer, I think the best use of music in a movie, ever. Was at the first screening in 30 years here a couple of years ago and the audience applauded for what seemed like 5 minutes at the end. It was awesome.

24 The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 26% of Likely U.S. Voters think the president should have the right to ignore federal court rulings if they are standing in the way of actions he feels are important for the country. Sixty percent (60%) disagree and say the president should not have the right to ignore the courts. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided.

But perhaps more unsettling to supporters of constitutional checks and balances is the finding that 43% of Democrats believe the president should have the right to ignore the courts. Only 35% of voters in President Obamas party disagree, compared to 81% of Republicans and 67% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

I don't give a shit that "American Sniper" won't win the Oscar. The people in the media, including the press, are such liberal pinheads that there is almost no chance.

I looked at the thread before last, the one about the members of this administration putting out that stupid twitter thing. If republicans had done anything that ridiculously stupid, they'd all be screaming like stuck pigs.

The people who vote in the Oscars have their heads up democrat party ass, but the American people know what they like. And they like a navy seal who isn't afraid to call a radical muslim savage a savage, and then kill his ass. F**k the Oscars. I haven't watched that bunch of narcissist 'tards in years.

89 That Tex is an awesome dog! I love that video! If I believed in reincarnation, I'd say he was an Olympic triathlete in a former life. (Bruce Jenner, behold your future.)

I've been avoiding AOSHQ and all news this past week. I had to take a break. From time to time, I become so enraged and disheartened by the Obama administration and the stinking libs that I just can't stand even reading about anything they've done or said for a while. I keep the TV off, don't look at blogs and just spend my evenings reading fiction or history. I finished "Day of the Jackal." Forsyth accomplished something amazing. You know right at the beginning the plot will fall because DeGaulle was not assassinated - but you still become engrossed in the story- my heart was pounding during the last chapter because I didn't know HOW the Jackal would fail.

90 That Engadget article was ridiculously content free. Someone noticed x, and here are a couple of links about it.

The title claims they'll tell you how its done, and they never said.

Is it as simple as speeding things up 7.5%, or do they have to fiddle with audio pitch and other things to get it to look and sound right?

Are they dropping non key frames? What are the noticeable artifacts?

Eh, who am I kidding? Webzines are stupid.

107 My favorite lifetime movie of all time is one with Tiffany Thiessen (of course) where she plays a teenager who moves to this coastal town with her dad into a haunted house.

I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, but I want to say the ghost posesses her or something. Somehow she gets led to a lighthouse, I know that happens.

Anyway, it turns out that the boy she's dating murdered a girl that looked just like her and the ghost teams up with her to kill him.

It was all very 90s fabulous with lots of cropped shirts and overalls.

The natives seem to prefer bourbon, but are surprisingly tolerant of other intoxicants. I believe the key to successful admission to the herd is having a wide variety of distilled liquor on hand.

One who preaches temperance or declares himself a "rev-noor" runs a very real risk of physical injury.

So far, my consumption of various intoxicants in very large quantities seems to have convinced them that I am of their tribe, and do not wish them any harm.

Being versed in firearms and their functionality further cements this opinion.

To date, Operation Getmethefuckoutofmaryland has been a remarkable success.

A flick came on after Escape from New York last night, called "Below". It looked like it was gonna be a stupid movie that like most supernatural flicks in the last couple of decades, would find itself wadshot straight out of the gate with too much, too soon... no real suspense, just jump "scares"... etc, etc, etc. But it was pretty good. WW2 submarine thriller, directed by David Twohy. Yeah, it's kind of silly, but, it's handled well by Twohy who can tell a great tale with the most dubious of stories. It's got Nick Chinlund and Dexter Fletcher. Would recommend as a surprisingly good haunting flick that didn't get a look in when it was released.

155 Scam warning: I've gotten two calls from some guy calling himself "Melvin" and telling me there is a very serious problem with my computer that he needs to fix. I looked up the situation, and he asks people to let him control their computer and then he changes passwords and steals information. The second time he called, I said, "You called me last week, and I told you I didn't need any help from you." He assured me this was his first call to me. It was just so weird to have him lie like that when we both knew he was lying.

I'm still on a hard cider kick. Crispin Imported Classic English dry cider - good but not quite as dry as the imported French stuff, which is as dry as brut champagne. I've come to prefer it to sweet cider though.

Hard cider was THE American drink until the Krauts arrived and started brewing beer. The Depression finished the industry off until recently because the apple growers could only sell eating apples or apple juice. The old American ciders were quite dry, like the Brit and frog ones. A lot of the ones on the market are sweet because Americans are now used to sweet apple juice.

Shit, Prohibition was a Progressive thing - and think of how many family businesses, breweries, whiskey distillers, wine-makers, etc. were killed by it. California wines started to get serious attention in the 1970's - they would have been great decades earlier if not for stupid Prohibition. The wine grape growers in this country had to start from scratch.

233 I've been getting a lot of cold calls lately from some Indian boiler-room. Something about electric rates or solar power or some bullshit.

My takeaway from all of them is, how the hell do those scammers ever make any money?

First of all, the call center dudes all have incredibly heavy accents and poor English comprehension, plus they're using some kind of stupid voice-activated mike so there's a lag between saying something and them shutting up like the call center is on the goddamned Moon or something. About half our conversation is me saying "what was that?" And I have relatively good hearing and an ear for accents. How are the poor old people they're trying to defraud ever going to understand them?

And second, they fucking ARGUE with me. I had one last year claiming to be from the "Vhwinndows Companny" who make the computer system. I asked him if he meant Microsoft (you know, the makers of goddamned Windows) and he starts arguing with me that the company is called "Windows" not Microsoft. Huh? If you're a scammer, indulge your mark for Christ's sake -- or, if the mark obviously knows something, cut the call and move to the next one on the list!

It's maddening! I'm getting called by scammers and they're not even doing a good job of defrauding me! It's like I have to do their work for them.

Two weeks ago, she came for a visit for several hours. The first time she touched my foot, I gently told her that no, that hurts Mommy. She looked at me, horrified, and ran screaming and crying to her grandma. Eventually she calmed down, never touched my leg again, and figured out how to climb into my lap to give me kisses. But yeah, you're right-one wrong move and 25 pounds of toddler could undo all of my surgeon's hard work.

There are some real scammers who ignore it. They don't care that you are on it. If you ask for their information so you can report them, they give you fake info. If you press "1" to be taken off their call list, they call you even more. One of these is "Heather from credit services." They're out and out crooks.

With legitimate businesses, if you tell them to stop calling, they stop, because they don't want to waste time on people who are a definite "no". Also, legitimate businesses respect the "Do not call" list.

It was a great idea that got hijacked by the fucknuts in Congress with all the waivers in it.

Charities are exempt from it
Pollsters are exempt from it
Politicians are exempt from it
PACs are exempt from it
Foreign phone lines are exempt from it

Telemarketers now have changed their tactics by asking an "opinion question" first, then hitting you with a hard sell.

I also found out that you have to tell them "put me on your do not call list" to be put on that list. If you say "stop calling", "don't call me anymore" or anything else, they can just keep going but saying "pmoydncl" stops them right then and there.

Posted by: nerdygirl at February 20, 2015 11:43 PM (kGrwF)

The real scammers are the ones that you fuck with. The "Windows Support" guys are the best ones to do this with. I figure the longer that I keep them on the line, the less time they have to try to scam those who don't understand that it's a scam.

As for why they do the scam, if you get a MagicJack, you are in business for about $50, plus $250 for a laptop, you are in for $300. If they can get just 4 people a day to download their spyware for $25, they are making over $36K a year.

It's kind of like the "grandchild" scam. Scammers get an email address that is close to the name of someone's grand kid and sends them an email saying they need $500-$1000 for some emergency and please send it asap via Western Union. Grandma/Grandpa feels that they must do it for their poor grandchild and do it. If you are successful once a day doing that, big money. Last week at Kroger and at 7-11 I saw two seniors in talking to the clerks about how to get their money back and were told that there was nothing they could do. Sad.

298 There's a golden retriever (or an English setter?) across the street from us and he just loves to play in the snow. He'll bite at the snow being shovelled into the air by his mistress; he runs up and down the big snow piles where the snowplow dumps the street's snow; and chases snowballs tossed by a granddaughter (I'm assuming) and then is surprised when he can't find the snowballs once they've landed in the snow no matter how hard he digs for them. Really cute. I've even seen him being friendly with the mailman.

312 I had a disagreement with CenturyLink over whether they received my check or not, and then dropped the service for another service that had to run a new fiber-optic to my house and took a month to do it.
My phone was offline for that amount of time with the "this phone is out of service" message.
My spam calls went WAY down when I had the phone switched back on.

I am thinking of disconnecting myself once a year from now on.

Long story short we had serious financial, problems 6-7 years ago.,out of the blue 2 months ago a firm called all 3 daughters cell phones, wife's cell phone but not mine. Collecting a debt if not paid by western express by 5 a warrant would be sworn out for wife's arrest. I called them and pissed them off where they hung up. my wife is still here. They were smooth, slick & pretty professional

I blame the Internet for a lot of this shit

My poor 90 year old grandpa fell for something similar a few years before he died.

Someone called claiming to be my cousin saying that he and his wife were stranded in Canada and needed $1000 to fix their car to get home. He sent the money. My mom got home from work and about died when he told her the story.

He was never able to get the money back. Makes me angry again just thinking about it.

319 235 "Saving Private Ryan" lost to "Shakespeare in Love," Oscar-wise.

I thought the first 20 minutes of saving Private Ryan was some of the most powerful footage I've ever seen.

After that? Well, like Mark Steyn pointed out, it's a self-absorbed Boomer rendering of the Greatest Generation. They had to find Private Ryan so "one good thing would come out of this war?" (I'm paraphrasing the Tom Hanks character.) Steyn said, "Well, I guess defeating the Nazis wasn't enough. It wouldn't have been worth it if they hadn't saved Pvt. Ryan."

That bothered me at the time too.
So I wasn't that sad to see it lose to "Shakespeare in Love."

"Band of Brothers" IMO is the best war movie about the European theatre.

Probably a Golden. I've got 2 and they lurve the snow. Absolutely. Love. It. They go out to go to the bathroom, and then come in covered in snow. When I am shoveling the snow, they are jumping in the piles.

A couple of years ago, the Mrs wanted me to take a picture of the house with everything snow covered. So I walked out with camera in hand to do so with one of the Goldens behind me. By the time I got to the street, the Golden had turned the pristine snow in front of the house into something that looked like a classroom full of kids had trudged through the yard.

325 "Now, for a bit of humor, here are 9 military categories the Oscars forgot."

Holy shit, I clicked that link and discovered from the article there that there was a movie made and released last year called "Camp X-Ray" starring Kristen Stewart as a military guard at Guantanamo Bay who has her emotional shell cracked by a totally innocent, lovable and sympathetic Muslim dude cruelly imprisoned by the evil US because Evil and Racism and Colonialism 'n' Stuff.

I immediately crossed Kristen Stewart off every list she might have been on in my cultural archives, and practically projectile vomited across the room - - but then to my joy I saw this info at wikipedia:

Budget $1 million
Box office $60,581

"The film opened on October 17, showing in one theater in New York City. The film grossed $1,316. The film expanded to three screens in its second week and posted an increase of 134% of $3,480. As of November 9, the film has grossed $9,837. The film also debuted on video on demand and rose to #12 in overall releases on iTunes. "Camp X-Ray" grossed $50,744 in the United Arab Emirates.

"On February 6, 2014, IFC Films announced their acquisition of the North American rights to the film.[6] Shooting Stars LLC acquired the rights to distribute the film in the United Arab Emirates. EDGE Entertainment will distribute Camp X-Ray in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.[7] The film will also be distributed in Lebanon and Iraq with an October 30, 2014 release date."

So basically, the film made essentially zero dollars in the US, so they'll show it to America-hating audiences overseas, and try to recoup the money that way.

Go choke and die, filmmakers.

This has been the pattern going on for decades, now:

The studios make robot/explosion/CGI blockbusters to rake in the big $$$ from teenage boys, and then take those profits to fund money-losing anti-American propaganda films, which they know ahead of time will never earn back their budgets.

It's confusing when you look at each half of the studio equation, but when you look at them together, it goes like this:

The ultimate goal is to brainwash everyone into anti-American leftist narratives, but in order to do that you need a lot of $$$ -- so they swallow their pride and produce non-political but profitable films for the very purpose of generating funding for the propaganda films which they know are not financially viable on their own.

The hilarious side effect is that more people are counter-brainwashed to love guns and the military (well, the outer-space future military at least) by the paint-by-numbers blockbusters, while basically nobody ever watches the vanity-release anti-American crap flicks.

So the Hollywood leftists have malevolent intentions, but reality fucks with them and they end up failing at their own game.

I remember reading last year or before that Hollywood was reaching a critical stage. The big budget flops were killing them. The theory then was that H'wood would shift to fewer budget-busters to producing more economical films in larger number to spread the risk around. Smaller budget films becoming a hit and over-generating were a better hedge than big productions that sucked a studio dry.

I don't. Now the internet may be the cause that certain types of scams have cropped up, and that you are getting contact. Because the scammers need to target more people. There are now websites dedicated to reporting phone numbers as scammers. So its like its always been, but you hear about it more because you hear about the people getting scammed in California and New York even while you're sitting there in Wisconsin. You would probably have never heard of them being scammed without the internet. And there would be no real way for you to know that a certain number is a scammer when they call you.

378 There are are a couple of telephone scams going on in the Denver metro area right now. One is someone calling to say that they are with the Sheriffs dept. claiming that you missed jury duty and now have a warrant, but you can pay x amount and the charges will be dropped. The other is claiming to be from the IRS and there is a warrant, but if you pay x amount, they'll drop the charges. Seems to mostly target the elderly. But if you think about that, the elderly pay their property taxes and most likely be selected for jury duty. But still scummy scammer thieves.

Mike, last summer, I drove to work and ransacked my office trying to find my cell phone. Not there. It had fallen out of my purse and was underneath the passenger seat of my car. And it drove me nuts for over 24 hours because I couldn't find the stupid thing.

Gee, remember once upon a time when you were not accessible outside of work and home and it didn't bother you in the slightest? Now, you have to have the f'ing cell with you 24/7 because - crap what if an IMPORTANT CALL comes in and you can't answer it?

There used to be a device called the "Telezapper" that would emit the "number out of service" tone that the phone company used to use, and it worked like a charm. We had one for a couple of years before the DNC registry, and the phone calls dropped dramatically.

Just looked it up on Amazon, and it appears that the telemarketers new equipment doesn't fall for it any more.

My mother has early alzheimer's so when stuff goes missing it tends to cause worry for all of us.

But we had something like that happen. She was looking for her car keys, and I watched her empty every pocket of her purse. No keys. Look around the house. No Keys. Check the purse again. No keys. While she looked around the house a second time, I checked every pocket of the now empty purse. Twice. Nothing. So we're standing in the kitchen trying to guess where else she might have left them and my brother walks in, looks around the room while we're talking, checks the purse and finds them in the pocket she always keeps them in.

I blame wormholes.

Losing car keys WITH HER MIND!! is one of Mrs. Chronda's mutant superpowers.

When we moved out here to California, we rented a truck to move some of our stuff. After we had unloaded the truck, she was sitting in the passenger seat of our car with the truck keys in one hand and the rental agreement in the other. She opened the rental agreement to make certain we had written down the mileage and *boom* the keys were gone.

It took half an hour of tearing the car apart to find them. They were jammed in the seat railing under the passenger seat. Took a while to get them out.

The other mutant superpowers that I've identified are A) being able to spend all the cash in my wallet TO THE PENNY without ever known how much I had in there to begin with and B) whenever she calls me at work, I'm in the bathroom.

Not exactly Dr. Xavier material, but a mutant nonetheless.

And she was a fishing dog, also taught one of the Golden's to fish. She'd stand in the water, and wait until these little fish would come up and nibble on her back leg. Then she'd turn around and snag them.

Methos, my mother died of cancer when she was 62. But her 3 brothers lived longer and all 3 died of Alzheimers so every time I walk into a room and can't remember what I was looking for there - I worry a bit. My mother died before she developed the disease but it clearly runs in her family. I don't know what's worse - my mother was diagnosed with cancer at 62 and died within 6 months - that was devastating. I was only 25 when she died and it was painful.

My uncles lived into their 80's - but they couldn't rmember their earlier lives. One had been a minor league pitcher, the other two were WWII Navy men - and that disappeared. Sometimes I think cancer is better - you die in pain, but you remember who you were.

If you have any question, ask for a number to call back. If the agent is in any way rude or inappropriate get a name and an agent number and raise Hell when you call back.

Springers are wonderful dogs. We had a Springer, Pepper, when I was a teenager who taught herself to ring the front doorbell when she wanted to come in. You'd see her head pop up in the bay window and 5 seconds later she'd run to the front door and jump up on the doorbell. Nobody taught her that.

My sister's inlaws bought her sister, Misty. They would bring Misty for visits. The two of them would get so excited when they saw each other they would pee standing up on the driveway. Then they would run around the house together about 20 times. One would usually grab the other one's ear as they were running. It reminded me of little girls holding hands - a dog holding her sister's ear in her mouth!

457 Creepiest new development has to be the telemarketing voice response robots which are sophisticated enough to deny being robots when asked. I haven't run across one yet but apparently they're out there.

I did once have to bite my tongue so hard it hurt for two days, after a friend gave a human telemarketer a note-perfect clinical paranoid rant about The Conspiracy.

Stayed in character flawlessly, worked in chemtrails and Nazis and JFK and faked moon landings and the "Face On Mars", kept it going for half an hour, while I just died over in the corner, working so hard not to laugh out loud and wreck his beautiful spiel.

Finally the telemarketer hung up and my buddy turned to me and calmly picked up our previous conversation where it had been interrupted, as though nothing had ever happened. What a gift.

The air in North Carolina smells like opportunity. There are a lot of blown-up mill towns that people say reek of failure.....but you can get 2000 square feet of manufacturing space with power, heat, and light for *nothing* -- and you can get world-class mechanical, electrical, and software engineers as easily as you can in Silicon Valley -- and you can get folks to solder, make cable assemblies, screw things together, and functionally test things a lot cheaper than where they have to live in $500,000 houses.

Both have a "White Pages" app that has a "reverse number lookup" feature that tells you where and sometimes who that number is that just called you. It also has users leaving feedback for what they are calling about.

When you see a number with 1378 reports, and a number without any reports, you can figure out which is spam and block those numbers.

My sister had an accidental litter of Great Dane pups. It was Shana's first heat and Shiloh, the older male belonging to my other sister, was supposed to be kept away from her for the duration. My brother 'forgot; and let him into the back yard. Whether this was a genuine mistake on his part remains a subject for debate.

So, ten pups. The smallest was not expected to make it for a while but he ended up being the one my sister kept. Moses (brother tried to call him Krypto but sister didn't go for it) was a bit short for a Dane but very burly and had a terrific personality. He lasted tens years, outliving the rest of the litter.

My then-boyfriend and I nearly bust our guts laughing at the poor Scottie, who managed to put his back paws on the sheepdog's butt but couldn't get near - the mark. His little butt was moving back and forth but he wasn't hitting anything but air. 504 One thing to look at with Fair Game is where the budget was actually spent. The star, Naomi Watts, is supposedly close to Plame and her husband from well before the scandal broke. Likely she worked cheap compared to what she would have gotten from the same time on a higher profile production.

I strongly suspect a big motive behind the production was to channel a large chunk of cash towards Plame as a payoff for her progressive foot soldier role. Just breaking even at the box office was a big bonus in that case.

Maybe you missed it before but all sources I've checked indicate a $22 million production budget. Marketing was fairly minimal and it didn't run on a lot of screens at opening. In other words, they didn't even try to make money on it. It was just taking a hit for the team but not a money pit by Hollywood standards.

I had parked it one spot over from my usual parking place, where it wasn't visible from inside the apartment.

I had an incident where I parked my car near my unit's door to unload groceries and got distracted, forgetting it was there and needed to be moved to street parking. So it got towed overnight. When I tried to go somewhere the next day I still didn't recall where I'd left it and was dismayed to find in wasn't on the street outside the complex. Ended up costing $400 ransom to get it back. So I get a bit paranoid when my car isn't where I expect it to be, even though it's usually just faulty memory as to where I last put it.

That's a good idea. It might help.

The problem is that the hot water pipe is in front of an exterior vent in the crawlspace, so it's exposed to the outside air. The cold water pipe is on the other side of a joist and not in front of the vent. I've never had a problem with that one. Both pipes have foam insulation around them.

This is the only pipe I have had freeze. The bathrooms and laundry room are fine.

On Monday, I unfroze it by borrowing a heat gun from work. It took several minutes but eventually worked. Ironically, the insulation probably worked against me in this case, since it protected the frozen pipe from the heat.

That bothered me at the time too.

The president will defeat the Islamic State by spreading a Valentine's message from an 11-year-old Muslim girl who said "we're just like everybody else." His State Department and Pentagon are similarly clueless.

615 'Islam played a crucial role in America's founding'

Yea. Of the Marines. Also they gave us the zero.

616 In his bloviating speech on Thursday at his summit on countering violent extremism, President Obama bent over backwards to make nice with Islam. Not only were terrorists not Muslim, President Obama stated, but Islam played a crucial role in America's founding.

Just once I'd like to see somebody ask Obama for some specific examples of what Muslims did that was so crucial to our founding.

Talk about an awkward pause . . . .

Vic, since JJ Sefton doesn't seem to be around, someone needs to point out that a "schwartz" is not the same thing as a "schwantz," even if the spelling rules for Yiddish are, shall we say, "flexible."

Kudos for not calling it a "schwartze," anyway. That would get the PC crowd all riled up.

619 "ISIS video of killing the 21 Christians is fake."

Of course, in the body of the article, it does say that no-one believes that they are still alive.
Just that the manner of death was faked.

The blood running into the ocean was probably faked as well.

So they have that going for them.

630 "ISIS video of killing the 21 Christians is fake."

I'm disappointed. I went way down in the comments on the commentary, and no one commented, "At this point, what difference does it make?"

So, I'll do that now, and we'll be done with it.

Like our observers in the NSA, the cobs don't have a lot to do, so that kind of thing keeps them entertained.

634 With telemarketers, if the caller is a persistent female, I usually start out by complimenting her on her sexy voice, and rapidly progressing to inquiring what color panties she's wearing. Goes downhill pretty quick after that. Nowadays, all calls go to voice mail. All calls.
