Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Morning Thread (2-18-2015)Mike Rowe on the flap over Scott Walker's college degree. Here’s what I didn’t understand 25 years ago. QVC had a serious recruiting problem. Qualified candidates were applying in droves, but failing miserably on the air. Polished salespeople with proven track records were awkward on TV. Professional actors with extensive credits couldn’t be themselves on camera. And seasoned hosts who understood live television had no experience hawking products. So eventually, QVC hit the reset button. They stopped looking for “qualified” people, and started looking for anyone who could talk about a pencil for eight minutes. QVC had confused qualifications with competency. AoSHQ Weekly Podcast | Download | Ask The Blog | Archives Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1
With Obama, America wasn't looking for a qualified person.

Good Morning Morons. Today is Wednesday, February 18, 2015 and I now have power! On this day in 2001 Robert Hansen was arrested for spying for the Russians. He was sentenced to 15 life terms w/o parole. He is currently serving those terms in Florence, CO. I hope his ass is getting a good workout.

The Obamanites have no backup plan if the Supreme Court rightly strikes down the Obamacare crap because of blatantly illegal gov subsidies. This is good. The real question is "will my insurance rates go back to what they were before this shit started". I doubt it.

And how about this load of crap from Fox news.
The Clinton Foundation reportedly is seeing an increase in contributions from foreign governments after ending a self-imposed ban on such donations, raising new ethical questions as Hillary Clinton prepares for a possible 2016 presidential campaign. No that is not a GD "self-imposed" ban. It is against the law for campaigns to accept donations from foreign countries. But the Clintons have already done this when they accepted donations from China and got away with it. You can violate election laws if you are a Democrat. http://fxn.ws/1G0Nwfn Posted by: Vic at February 18, 2015 06:18 AM (wlDny) Posted by: Vic at February 18, 2015 06:19 AM (wlDny) Posted by: Vic at February 18, 2015 06:19 AM (wlDny) 8

Morning, all. Thanks for the news, Vic.
I posted a picture of Betty Grable yesterday, but here's another, from 1943s Coney Island: http://goo.gl/H6kdrS And here's a Grable joke from the 1945 collection Laughing Stock, edited by Bennett Cerf: Grable was hosting her 5-year old niece for the weekend. As she was taking a bath, the girl wandered in and asked if she could climb into the tub, too. "All right," Grable answered, and the girl got in. After a few moments, Grable noticed her niece was staring at her very intently. "What's the matter?" she asked. "I was just wondering," the girl replied, "why it is that I am so plain and you're so fancy." Here's Grable again, in 1940s Tin Pan Alley: http://goo.gl/ss5sVc Hope you all have a wonderful day. We shall see. But I've been reliably told by one poster on this blog for the past 6 years that amnesty driven by Republicans was a done deal and yet it still hasn't happened. In fact, contrary to what I've been told, the Republicans are pretty united in fighting it. Of course Obama continues to be Obama but he is also galvanizing the country against liberalism. As I've been saying for years, once the public gets a real look at liberalism which they only see when a liberal stops lying about his position and actually tries to implement it the public goes against him. Here's a breakdown of the Gallup poll you referenced. Sure, Dems and liberals march in lockstep with a Dem president as always (only Republicans turn on their own) but he has lost everyone else to become the most polarizing president in polling history. No small feat, that. http://tinyurl.com/le6hyut Maybe Gallup should stop oversampling Dems. Posted by: JackStraw at February 18, 2015 07:25 AM (hjV/C) 82

Posted by: Citizen X at February 18, 2015 07:28 AM Duh. We ARE "doing worse." One of obama's NASA "scientists" warned us yesterday that we need to
stop greenhouse gases NOW or else the U.S. will experience "mega droughts." Last I heard global warming was going to result in massive increase in rain due to increased humidity, which of course means more floods, tropical diseases and landslides. I guess that wasn't scary enough to get voters to hand over all their money. "Mega drought" has a much more ominous, apocolyptic ring to it than "increased landslides" Posted by: George Orwell de Leon at February 18, 2015 07:45 AM (1BQGO) 94

. . .They cant speak out for fear of being labeled racist. It is as simple as that. I am sure there are tons of Blue Dog Dems that hate what he is doing but they wont say anything because it would destroy their political careers. Most Republicans are scared to death of saying anything because they know the press will be all over them and that will destroy any career they have left. Back to the Mike Rowe piece for a sec - I'm reminded of a fairly large consumer product project (ok, charming anecdote here) I worked with - the GMT 800 (that's General Motors Truck 800, or the late 90's pickup).
When we went live w/initial consumer exposure, Corp demanded similarly "polished professionals" with mucho engineering capabilities. The presentations went like, well, as badly as one could imagine. One of the truck managers went out on the proverbial limb and picked up folks from suburbs, rural areas, and working events (stock shows, rodeos, etc) - in other words, people who actually drove trucks. The results were incredible. These "real" pitchmen were an absolute success in getting the word across on this new platform... Of course, the RenCen was none too pleased with the process. Sure they have. I'm one of those morons (small m morons) that actually watches CSPAN and they have tried numerous times on numerous issues. For example, the decision on Obama's illegal NLRB packing was the result of a challenge by McConnell and it was successful. That doesn't get as much press as high profile loses but it doesn't change the facts of what happened. They have been fighting a stonewalling administration on numerous issues, from F&F to Benghazi to the IRS. Sure, it's frustrating to fight against an administration that lies and obfuscates but I fail to see how that makes our side bad guys simply because they can't do what nobody could. I challenge you to tell me exactly how they could have gotten the information any faster or more complete from this administration. Legal challenges? Are you forgetting who is running Justice? Impeachment? Ha. We don't have anything close to the number of votes and if we lose, which we would, Obama would get the martyr treatment just like Clinton did and we would actually be in worse shape. Right now the Republicans are fighting to defund DHS and while the msm and the left are squealing like stuck pigs about the only commentary on the right is to pick the day when the Republicans will fold. We are much better at circular firing squads than we are at bolstering our team to actually win. The actions by the Texas judge was a huge step in stopping Obama's illegal actions, just the kind of thing you are advocating for, and they deserve serious support from our side. That's how you win these things, with public support. The Dems didn't lose a second declaring they will fight to overturn this decision Where is all the support from our side to make sure it doesn't happen? Of all the screwy things we have seen over the past six years, that...thing...is the screwiest. Not only did it generate Somalia on the Med (Google it--I think I was the first to use that term, right here, BEFORE it happened--call me a prophet), but it resulted in a whole chain reaction of effects across the Sahel. Now places like Mali and Niger are having trouble. It's not even the primary bad stuff that gets you, it's the secondary and tertiary stuff. Just getting a chance to catch up on the last couple days posts but I'm
surprised there isn't more moron enthusiasm for the decision of the federal judge in Texas. I realize that this is not a place given to enthusiasm but that was a pretty significant kick right to Obama's balls. You don't often see a federal judge call a president disingenuous which is judge speak for fucking liar. -- Judge Napolitano was on Megyn Kelly's show last night. He was really emphasizing what a kick in the face this was to Obama's plans to overrun us with his legalized illegals. He seemed to think this really extinguished his "orders", probably for good, or at least until the end of Bammy's wretched term. He said if it went to the 5th(?) Circuit, they are the most conservative and would likely not hear it and the ruling would stand. Posted by: Lady In Black at February 18, 2015 08:22 AM (6C3ns) 133
The Republicans do not want to be called racist. So they will not ever try to impeach Obama. And they would be called racist. By every news outlet in the country. Obama would come out of an impeachment being more popular than ever. And yes, they are called racist anyway but the charge don't stick with most people. Now if the media starts pounding the drum that's a different story.

Navycopjoe,
YHM makes good gear, generally. I assume this is their fluted heavy profile with a non-chromed bore. Heavy barrel is good for accuracy, but the chrome bore is theoretically not. The trade off is toughness and ease of cleaning. Melonite is the new hotness and supposedly bridges the gap. Twist rate is all about bullet weight. A 7 twist will excel with heavier 77 grainers whereas the 9 twist not as much. 9 is a good compromise if you'll be running a number of different weights, though. That all said, my 7 twist, 16" chromed Spike's barrel does great with cheap 55 grainers. Go figure. When I hired on as a Telco Installer/Repairman, new recruits road w/an experienced tech for a month before going to Install/Maint school. Which took 2-3 weeks, TOPS!
After I hired on w/my 2 year degree, Verizon raised the bar to a 4 year degree. None of the "Frat boys" wanted to climb poles, crawl under trailers to splice rat chewed wires, etc... Their buddies didn't get dirty! But they made 2/3rds of their Telco counterparts. These other clowns were (assistant) managing drug stores, working holidays etc. You know, retail, which sux. The sad thing is these kids either quit or flunked out of climbing school because they were afraid of heights! Posted by: hutch1200 at February 18, 2015 08:51 AM (Kdd08) 181

187" The DEMOCRAT party is all HYPE. For some stupid reason, people like hype."
People like a narrative. Fuck qualifications, experience, character and all that other superfluous shit, just tell a story. The democrats had the best narrative for the past two elections - the first black president. All the ills of racism were going to go away, this paid the debt of slavery and on top of that, he was articulate and clean. You can't fight a narrative like that, but it only works once (or twice if you have an asshole running against him). This is why Rowe would so good. You couldn't plan a run-up to a presidency any better than having someone tour the country doing every dirty job there is. You couldn't find anyone who has such a natural, easy to equate to manner. To hell with politicians. It's time to face reality and play the election game the way it's meant to be played. Posted by: jwest at February 18, 2015 09:01 AM (9ZZd+) 204
