Obama Amnesty Loophole Could Allow Illegals To Vote
Um, isn't that what most of were saying anyway? Think about this: one party wants millions of illegals because MOAR VOTERS, while the other party wants millions of illegals because PEDRO, MY FUTURE GARDENER. Neither party gives a flying f*ck about the actual citizens in this country. I'm at the point where I want to go all Cask of Amontillado and build a wall around DC. I'd then toss a hose over the top and turn on the water. When some fluid finally sloshed over the top, it'd be time to cut it off. Oh, and we might need some people on top of the wall to prevent anyone from escaping. Hey, I'm just spitballing here. I'm open to other suggestions, including someone building a working voodoo doll to direct SMOD onto Capitol Hill. Posted by: physics geek at February 13, 2015 09:00 AM (MT22W) 12

So I have bit of geek good news to share. So some of you know my wife is part of a tribal bellydance troupe. A few nights ago, she was showing a pic from her troupe's FB page and her instructor had a pic of the green skinned Orion slave girl from ST:TOS for some reason. I jokingly asked if they were going to do the Orion slave girl dance. She emailed her instructor and the next day she got a response saying what a great idea that was! w00t!!! The entire troupe is going to be Orion slave girls for this Halloween's hafla (dance party). This is geek heaven to me!!! I've been busy this morning tracking down the TOS episode and music, as well as costume pics for the wife. w00t again! Posted by: EC at February 13, 2015 09:02 AM (doBIb) 21

"Evolution of a Tactic" what kind of headline is that? How are we to know what the article is about with that kind of obscure innuendo. The proper answer to the question asked of Governor Walker about Darwin's Theory of Evolution is : "I feel that the theory is probably correct, and if it is correct then the Endangered Species Act is the political left's attempt to negate that theory. After all, if you believe that only those species best adapted to their environment should survive, then trying to keep alive a species that is failing to adapt is a fools errand. If a species is going extinct, humanity should get out of the way and let that species go extinct. That's what the theory is all about. Repeal the Endangered Species Act today! Posted by: J.T. Or even better in that, possibly consider that a movie in which the lead villain is a global warming billionaire following the Rainbow Six plan for conservation may not be leftist pablum. Seriously, people. Part of the Stop Politicizing All The Things includes not letting other people's porting of their politics onto a movie, book, art work, whatever serve as some kind of de facto determination that oh I can't see that. I've heard excellent things about Kingsman from non-lefty people. Unfortunately, I don't know that I can plunk down the money to go see it. The trailer and clips, all I can think of is Justin Bieber. Ugh, the Biebs. And, the downfall of society where boys want to be like this Bieber wannabe and not like real dudes. I am sure there is a reason the kid is the way it is. But, I am sure they could have made an equally effective movie without the kid being a punk. Posted by: TickledPink at February 13, 2015 09:27 AM (TMe1n) 141

Yes, I trust him more about the politics but I am mainly interested in his discussion of the things that go boom.
This. I have no desire to watch Kingsman. It doesn't actually look all that good to me. However- an action movie (as an action movie) has succeeded when two things happen: people die, and stuff blows up. If there can be hot, scantily attired females involved, so much the better. It has failed (as an action movie) if it forces me to think, if it forces me to consider politics, if it breaks versimilitude. If it does not force me to think (that is: the plot is fairly straight forward (not the same as linear)), and it does not force me to think of politics (that is: doesn't get up in my face about 'Gun owners bad!' or whatever), and it does not break versimilitude (it's internally consistent-ish), then I'm probably happy enough with the movie. Prime example (successful): the Independence Day movie. Leftist drivel? Yeah, if you let yourself think about it. But it doesn't *make* you think about it. And it has great lines like "I couldda been at a barbeque!" and "You really think you can do all the bullshit you just said?" Prime example (unsuccessful): Minority Report. Not exactly leftist drivel, but the plot was so complex I spent more time trying to figure out WTF was going on than watching fight-scenes. (Yes, I know Minority Report is not actually an action movie, but the promos sold it as one- another FAIL). Posted by: AllenG (DedicatedTenther) - TrueCon at February 13, 2015 09:30 AM (kff5f) 153

AllenG, I like your science question! Don;t understand it, but I would love to see it posed to Hills and Lizzie.
It's not a science question. It's a religious one. One of the big fights in the Church (Catholics as well as Orthodox and Protestants) was over how *exactly* the Lord's Supper works. The two opposing theories were consubstantiation and transubstantiation. Transubstantiation (what the Catholics decided, I think (not a Catholic)) says that the bread and the cup turn into Jesus' literal flesh and blood as you take them. Consubstantiation says that Jesus' flesh and blood (or their spiritual equivalents- I'm CoC, we don't really care too much one way or the other) exists along side (con-) the bread and the cup. Except for theologians (or theological geeks, like me) most people don't even know the two concepts exist, let alone which is which, why the Church even asked the question, etc. Posted by: AllenG (DedicatedTenther) - TrueCon at February 13, 2015 09:39 AM (kff5f) 205

Not only that, but she was considered to be the very top of her class in those areas, graduated at the Academy ahead of schedule, and was routinely asked to participate in Starfleet functions, also asked to be a teaching assistant by virtually all of her professors, due to her high academic achievement. A new report from Everytown says that, “some states do thorough criminal background checks on applicants, while other states have such ineffective permitting systems that they inadvertently issue permits to felons."
I followed the link because, what the hell, I wanted to know which states to move to after I become a convicted felon, and I find that the reason the county in Idaho issued the felon a CCW was because the Feds had already given him a NFA card for automatic weapons. I imagine the sheriff checked no further than that. Posted by: toby928(C) at February 13, 2015 09:46 AM (evdj2) 235

I was convinced that the flick was going to be a reboot of the pilot of the first Star Trek series, that the villain was Gary Mitchell, the blonde science officer was Elizabeth Dehner, and that this was going to freakin' ROCK. Instead we got a really crappy Khan redux, nowhere near the quality of Wrath of Khan. No more JJ Trek. Ever. By the way not only is that putz Mcclaine claiming the Jews murdered in the Holocaust are responsible for their own deaths because of past lives??? But it is because they were part of the Crusades?
In a recent book, Oscar-winning actress Shirley MacClaine, asked whether victims of the Jewish genocide perpetrated by the Nazis may have been killers in previous lives, according to the Daily Mail. MacLaines memoir posited the question: What if most Holocaust victims were balancing their karma from ages before, when they were Roman soldiers putting Christians to death, the Crusaders who murdered millions in the name of Christianity, soldiers with Hannibal, or those who stormed across the Near East with Alexander? I'd just like to point out to all the people getting their panties in a wad about-
"The Daily Beast"s use of "one-percenters" for the villains what get killed in the movie- reflects said reviewer trying to remain one of the cool kids while still liking a movie, where- the main villain is a greentard and the conspiracy surrounding him and giving support are rich progtards and Preezy Boyfriend's head is blown up. You know, sort of like instead of Solyndra being a scam to relieve the taxpayers of $ 0.5 biilion, and then given to super-rich .0001% greentards, Solydra was a scam to kill all the unpeople of Jesusland and John Bullville with the .0001% greentards and progomites, getting a free pass. I like JJ Trek. I like Original Trek, too. I know a lot of people only like one or the other. But, I like both equally, and I understand the concept of alternate timeline, so I like and appreciate how they are different. In one universe, Kirk is a charismatic but competent leader who did the right thing much more than he did the wrong thing. In the other, he is a kid who grew up without a father and with a chip on his shoulder. I can appreciate them both. I like that Spock is a little more human in the reboot. And, Leonard Nimoy himself said that had ST not been cancelled after 3 seasons, they were probably going to flesh out a lot of the human elements of Spock. And, he was going to be much closer to the reboot Spock. But, I like the Nimoy deadpan from TOS. "The villain." Dude, that's Cumberbatch. Respect, son. Why are you letting one review from the rocket surgeons at The Daily Beast make up your mind for you? Same thing goes with the Free Beacon review as well. Read both sides and then decide for yourself. But don't read one thing by people who are such liars that they call Fred Phelps ultraconservative and assume that's the truth. Hey, I'm not telling you to go. I'm not telling you not to go. Your life, your money, your time, your not wanting to come up with the bail money when you throttle the girls behind you who are taking selfies. It's just that this instantaneous, knee jerk oh noes someone said this may have some Leftist commentary in it thus I must eliminate a potential source of entertainment from my life reaction drives me batty. Particularly when there appears to be no attempt to see what someone on the Right has to say about it. It's a stupid action movie. Hell, I get pissed when big summer blockbusters have a CIA guy/gal in it and that person is not both simultaneously an eeeeevil genius and utterly incompetent. Enjoy the stuff blowing up. Enjoy the fact that this is the story of a chav who is hauled off the street and told hey you want to make a difference? Become a gentleman. Enjoy, deeply, Colin Firth in bespoke tailoring shooting things. The Right complains, justifiably, about how the Left controls pop culture. Far too many people on the Right then turn around and refuse to go see anything or read anything or listen to anything if that work doesn't ticky all the proper right wing ticky boxes. Stop Politicizing All The Things. **** Ordinarily, I would agree with you. But Hollywood can't seem to stop politicizing all the things and its annoying to go to a fun cheeseball spy movie and then find it was all about the evil americans or corporations. (I'm looking at you, the last bourne movie.) But it's not even about the political anymore, it's that the political sucks the fun out of it because it is so damned predictable. I don't usually read reviews, I just go but a review was linked and it's friday before a long weekend and I forget which daily is what so hell, I took the 'watch a bunch of evil christians' part as legit. The first season of "Spartacus" is awesome. The small setting, indignities, and increasing rage of the protagonists works very well. Plus, the guy playing the Roman master is just a perfect clueless villain. But following seasons get increasingly meh. The big format and high school clique style plotting kinda ruin things.
