27 Veteran WH reporter at whitehousedossier (dot)com has the right take on Obama's gay marriage lie - it's chilling:

"Of course, we all knew he was lying...But to hear it so blandly admitted is verychilling. This republic
was founded on the assumption that men of honor could be found to lead
it. It can't just survive on written rules and laws.

That there has oftenbeen lying and corruption at the top levels of our
government is certainly true. But I'm not sure I've ever heard a
deception done by a president in such a bold, unnuanced, and cynical
way. Even Bill Clinton, who broke new ground with respect to
presidential dishonesty, at least felt compelled to try totechnically
tell the truth."

That's my point. The MFM would rather tear apart one of their own, who makes them look bad, then tell the truth apart darling dems.

And now it's easy. They're piling on. And they get to ignore JEF, Hildabeast and princess Running Joke.

In other, somewhat related news, the drip, drip about Kayla Mueller continues. AP had a follow up article. She was probably sold off or given awy to an ISIS thug. But just like the 'random' attack on a kosher grocery, such details are icky.
They'd rather scream and blather about a fake war on women and ignore the real won. Because the fake one involves talk, blaming and power grabbing. Real wars involve thought and effort.

37 Here's me woman-bashing:

I've always found it fascinating that our system of justice - predicated on the presumption of innocence - presumes guilt for one crime and one crime only: sexual assault (in all its forms).

Anecdotes aren't data, but I've witnessed this. A good friend of mine (we went to school together and swore in on the same day) was accused of rape by a girl because he wouldn't sleep with her. Thank GOD there were photos and receipts that prove he was elsewhere. He's black, she's white.

Even though his innocence was proven, his career as an Air Force intelligence officer was nearly destroyed before it even started. Getting that TS clearance is pretty much impossible with a rape charge in your jacket.

I can't fathom why liable/slander laws don't cover false accusations of rape, nor do I understand why charges can't be filed for false reports.

But I'm just a white man. What do I know?

Christian ---for me--- for me as a Christian, it is also a sacred union.
God's in the mix."

I disagree.
Most people think exactly like this. They have no idea who Charles Martel was, no knowledge of the Muslim invasions of the world. They have no idea why the Crusades were initiated. And most reflexively hate Christians and the Catholic Church. Hell, many Christians hate Catholics.

And this false equivalency is so glib, so much easier than protracted policy implementation tat takes years, decades to achieve visible results.

What would LIVs rather pass around on Facebook; that icky papists started icky wars and inquisitions, or that a 26 year old aid workers was given away like a piece of meat?

It's worse than the general idiocy and refusal to admit the truth doesn't conform to your particular paradigm. ISIS and Al Queda are trying to capture the "hearts and minds" (as they are) of the Palestinians for strategic purposes. First, to provide a beachhead for the next assault into Jordan. Second, to draw from a pool of new recruits. And, third, to gain some legitimacy on the Arab "street" for fighting Jews and thus securing more fiscal, human, and political capital.

By not acknowledging the enemy's basic strategy, they hamper our ability to fight it.

On the other hand, by getting into the Palestinian mess, ISIS and Al Queda are increasing their exposure to the Mossad and friends.

I think charges can be filed for false reports, but they rarely are? I think it's hard to positively disprove something like rape, just as its hard to positively prove it, if both parties were in the same place and especially if there is any proof of sex.
But if you've got 100% proof something didn't happen, I say prosecute away.

There is also the idea that people don't want to report rape, which I think contributes to the problems you describe, but I can't say that makes it logical or fair.

Meanwhile, in The Golden State, where vast herds of unicorns thunder majestically across the endless prairie:

In a move that could shape Californias climate policies for decades to come, legislators on Tuesday introduced a series of bills that would enshrine into law goals announced last month by Gov. Jerry Brown, who sees in the states fight against climate change a chance to create a lasting personal legacy. The legislative package unveiled Tuesday would create enforceable new goals stretching out to mid-century. By 2050:

Oil use for all forms of transportation would be cut in half.

Utilities would be required to get 50 percent of their electricity from the sun, the wind and other renewable sources. The same standard would apply both to investor-owned utilities such as PGE as well as municipal utilities, such as those serving Los Angeles and Sacramento.

The energy efficiency of all existing buildings within the state would be improved by 50 percent.

In addition, Californias two major public retirement funds, CalPERS and CalSTRS, would divest all coal company stock holdings,

Not weird- ignorant.

People's views of ARs and AKs in "cities" is still the Hollywood bank robbery from back in the 90s. Never mind that gun laws weren't going to stop those two, that is what the uninformed see when they picture "semi-automatic weapons" in the city.

They have no mental picture for the country, so they're able to be more objective.

I suspect that if you were to question him further on the matter, either he would abandon the position as not being well thought out, or it would come out that he really is anti-gun (to some extent) and was just trying to "satisfy everyone and please no one."

186 Oil use for all forms of transportation would be cut in half.

Average range of electric vehicles is what? About 200 miles? Yeah, that couldn't possibly cause a problem.

Utilities would be required to get 50 percent of their electricity from the sun, the wind and other renewable sources. The same standard would apply both to investor-owned utilities such as PGE as well as municipal utilities, such as those serving Los Angeles and Sacramento.

Because Jerry Brown has discovered how to store energy on the grid. Give that man a Nobel Prize.

The energy efficiency of all existing buildings within the state would be improved by 50 percent.

All of these cases seem to have this in common; these people all thought, with some validity, that they were earnest friends of the people and were doing good. The hostages included journolists, truck drivers, and activists. And in every case, Somebody chose to ignore all of that and grab them because of their nationality. Suddenly, nothing else mattered.

A young woman was beaten to death in South Africa years ago by an ANC mob. because she was white; no other reason. She was there as an aid worker also, one of many working for the locals and who probably hated apartheid. And her parents made a big show about 'social justice.'

There's a vast disconnect here.

I thought that she was in Syria, and went to a more unstable part. Or perhaps the situation was fluid, which wouldn't be surprising in a civil war/burgeoning caliphate.

251 Okay... is it just me, or is Hollywood really going all-in on 50 Shades?

It seems like I can't turn around without an advertisement for that execrable drek being (if you'll pardon the phrase) shoved in my face.

It's bad fan-fiction of a bad teenage angst romance. Why on earth would anyone with a Y chromosome give a rip? I'm not even sure why anyone with two X chromosomes gives a rip, but apparently they're all (well, at least a very loud minority, and possibly a fair majority) ga-ga for it.

Yeah, he got popular, and I think he finished the first actual story back with Changes. So now I think he's trying to figure out the full scope of the new story (which seems to be shaping up as a fight against whatever those things the Gatekeeper is keeping out).

"Mueller reportedly entered Syria not under any aid organization's
auspices, but with her boyfriend, a Syrian activist and photographer she
had met in Cairo. The boyfriend, whose name has not been made public,
was reportedly hired as a technician to perform repairs at a Spanish MSF
(Doctors without Borders) hospital in Syria."
