34 The difference between the atrocities that may have been committed by some Christians during the crusades over a 1,000 years ago and atrocities committed by the muzzies now are major. Atrocities committed by Christians during the crusade were committed by people who considered it "pay back". Atrocities being committed by muzzies now are being done by governments who consider it a requirement of their religion. Indeed, it is detailed in their "bible".

Where?

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at February 09, 2015 07:10 AM (CMkNk)

37 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. Thanks for the news, Vic.

Will Rogers was fairly immune to Hollywood hokum and managed to keep a level head around the glamour girls who populated Tinseltown. But his one dream girl was Greta Garbo, and he followed her comings and goings like any other starstruck mortal. On his way home from the studio, Rogers would go six blocks out of his way every night just to catch a glimpse of Garbo; occasionally, his efforts would be rewarded by a languid wave of recognition from the Nordic beauty.

But while Rogers was in New York one winter, Garbo sold her house and moved up into the then-remote Hollywood hills. So when an expectant Rogers sauntered by the old villa for a glimpse of Garbo, he found that the face on the porch belonged to his old, fat and decidedly unglamorous friend, the writer Irvin S. Cobb.

Dismayed, Rogers went straight to the nearest Western Union office to sendCobb a wire: "Dearest Greta: Land sakes, gal, how you've changed."

Here's Garbo in 1932s As You Desire Me:

42 Balls, willowed again, as per usual.

Here is my comment at the end of the ONT about the Times' "Mr. Scott" error:

Can't wait to see the correction on that Mr. Scott thing:

"In Friday's editorial the Times incorrectly identified the Governor
of Wisconsin as 'Mr Scott'. The Governor of Wisconsin is actually
Republican Scott Walker.

'Mr. Scott'was the legendary captain of the HMS Spatchcock in the
Star Wars series of movies, which focused on the interstellar
adventures of Brian Williams, a smalltown boy from Iowa, and his two pet
alligators, THX 1138 and WD 40.

The Times regrets the error."

I thought it was funny, but then, I'm an idiot. YMMV.

I've always been fascinated by the people who demand we follow (to the letter) the Geneva Conventions.

Geneva calls for the execution of all combatants not meeting the following conditions:
(a) That of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;(b) That of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance;(c) That of carrying arms openly;(d) That of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war.

My old man spent a day there on R and R during WW2. A day. He high-tailed it over to Nice, which was, not surprisingly, nice.

Also this. Times a million.

For the entire history of man - since the dawn of humanity - we have kept others as slaves. It's happened on nearly every major land mass, and for thousands of years.

It took the United States 70 years to realize that slavery was unacceptable, and end the practice.

Think about that. For the duration of mankind's existence, we have literally owned each other. It took America about a generation to destroy the practice.

I make no apologies for that - I embrace it. I celebrate it.

Let me know when Islam catches up.

Which is not to say that all black couples physically battle each other, or that none of the violence that occurs between couples is done by white people.

But if anyone is willing to be honest about it, the numbers predominantly point in one direction, and not the other.

108 re 91:

Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Crucially, that action will have to be taken within Obama's first administration, he added.

Soaring carbon emissions are already causing ice-cap melting and threaten to trigger global flooding, widespread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns in the near future. "We cannot afford to put off change any longer," said Hansen. "We have to get on a new path within this new administration. We have only four years left for Obama to set an example to the rest of the world. America must take the lead."

Hansen said current carbon levels in the atmosphere were already too high to prevent runaway greenhouse warming. Yet the levels are still rising despite all the efforts of politicians and scientists.

116 and from another expert:

Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned in a grandstand speech which set out his concerns for the future of the planet.

The heir to the throne told an audience of industrialists and environmentalists at St James's Palace last night that he had calculated that we have just 96 months left to save the world.

And in a searing indictment on capitalist society, Charles said we can no longer afford consumerism and that the "age of convenience" was over.

The Prince, who has spoken passionately about the environment before, said that if the world failed to heed his warnings then we all faced the "nightmare that for so many of us now looms on the horizon".

Charles's speech was described as his first attempt to present a coherent philosophy in which he placed the threat to the environment in the context of a failing economic system.

136 Something important was said on the ONT.

We're less of a country these days and the beginning of that decline was when we couldn't manage to get a serial rapist and liar convicted and thrown from office.

That's when we learned that the Democrats have no moral values only guidelines and recommendations.

Everything is up for grabs when it comes to Power. That's what we learned. And there were a few Republicans that couldn't bring themselves to convict.

They successfully sold the story that the impeachment was over a sexual misadventure between two adults.

But that was never the case and the Special Prosecutor failed us when he didn't make his case to the public.

It was about lying under oath.

Bill Clinton, although he didn't get convicted, got disbarred for his lies and his wife must and shall share his ignominy. She was ultimately responsible for him being there due to her willingness to lie during a candid interview before Bill was elected. She too demonstrated that no moral value was more important that gaining political power.

So now we have the ultimate liar a poseur who's every statement has turned out to be a lie of one sort or another. Who lived a lie for many years, who lied to the electorate to gain the office and who has lied over and over again as his mistakes and misdeeds come to light.

One of the reasons I reject Mitt Romney is because although he may be a good man, and honest man, I don't believe he has integrity. He is willing to lie, little white lies but lies nonetheless, to gain political power.

Because he's a good man, he doesn't do it very well and so he was defeated.

We need someone for our candidate who has proven true to himself and to others and who has proven they won't lie to gain political power. Then maybe we can right this off kilter country and get back our equilibrium.

Sorry this country went into decline long before that. The decline started with the "progressive era" in the early 1900s.

And Clinton was only "disbarred" for 5 years. He basically got away with perjury because Democrats will never impeach a Democrat no matter what he does. And one of those Democrats quoted Scottish law, but he has an "R" after his name.

173 Case. I am in Boston. That would be hanging offense here, especially today. Or at least a verbal haranging, public shaming, a snowbank helpfully reshoveled back onto the car, a keyed car or a slashed tire. Seriously, anywhere there isn't a car dug out here there is a 6 ft high gigantic horror pile of snow. The city does a piss poor job of taking it out of here. And I would love to know why the fuck it can't be taken to the beach 2 blocks away. I live on a peninsula for chying out loud, surrounded by water.

176 I do have to laugh at these folks who put up cans or old chairs and fully expect that their carefully shoveled space will be there hours later.

Human beings just aren't like that. Unless it's a very tight knit neighborhood.

But even then, there's always, always an asshole.

178 >>Then you see your garbage cans thrown to the side and another car parked in your spot you had spent hours digging out. What is the protocol for such a situation?

If you do that in Boston now the chances are your stuff will be tossed aside by the city. They made it illegal to save spaces like that a couple years ago and if you leave something in the street the plows will just plow it aside with the snow.

The MFM can all go fcuk themselves sideways with a pineapple for the damage they've done to this Republic.

How much of Williams's "deep personal connection" to Katrina that we keep hearing about had to do with destroying Booooosh?

STOP claiming that TFG's Christian-bashing "raised a firestorm on the right" or "caused his conservative critics to see red."

190 I gotta believe the Queen is trying to figure out how to get to William and skip Charles. He's the sort of loser who might cause the Brits to finally just chuck the whole "royal family" marketing scheme in favor of something more modern.

196 Liz has been holding off for years. I used to be angry about it and thought it was unfair to Charles.

Until he started speaking out in public.

What. A. Twit.

Remember the Python skit of the contest between the Twits?

Running all over the field, spazzing out, going the wrong way.

Yeah. That's Charles. In his own country they've had twice scandals revealed by released emails showing collusion and lies being spoken of and agreed upon to further one side of the Climate Change argument.

More and more information comes out daily showing that there claims are over stated at best and may actually be criminally inspired. Charles is living in a different world than the rest of us and should have little to no say it how it's run.

203 Being as we are so well-known here for our sympathy for civic employees, when they give you an angled plow blade on a dump truck and say "go clear these streets," what the hell are you supposed to do with the end of people's driveways -- lift your blade and leave the snow there?

The really fun part is when they break out the runway V-plows for the first pass, and throw foot-square ice chips about 15 feet up in the yard. Good clean fun. As the neighborhood Plow Guy, I get to see what happens when that army of snarling snowblowers gets going later in the day, and deposits the contents of all those driveways right back into the barely-open street. It looks like the luge run at Lake Placid out there, and while I'm on that subject, draws out the snowmobile gangsters who gleefully carom off the icy banks as they slalom through the meanders. And one of these mid-mornings are going to end up as v.expensive hood ornaments on my John effin Deere.

After the second pass of the city plow, some patient retiree with a front-end loader and a back-blade is supposed to come around and do a double pass on each drive, compressing a nice bank back off the right-of-way. You really ought to leave a shot of bourbon out for him. And when you get to the end of each blower run, you're supposed to shift the vent over before you make your turn, so the snow mist goes up in the lawn, not right back out where the city guy will have to stack it back up on you again. Go ahead, you try it.

Rant over? Oh I don't think so. I have a cousint in upstate NY who started his county's snowmobile auxiliary, and they do fun shit like running emergency rations, insulin and cigarettes out to the shut-ins. They also drink a little. Those guys are entitled to speed across pastures, do chasm leaps, run into barbed-wire fences at dusk, and all the other things that make snow machines so attractive. The little peckerwoods I have to look out for aren't even going for bread and milk. The tough punks with 4-wheelers with a plow on the front, and a passenger with a shovel, are on their way to help somebody, and they get a honk and wave from me, the other plow guys, and the civil-service pusher too. Our blow-mo-sneelers are never up to anything but justifying the expense of their uninsurable toys that they usually have to trailer 200 miles to drop through the ice. There.

204 The Kurds' Peshmerga can handle things over there just fine. They are a very formidable fighting force, especially when adequately supplied. Even when lacking supplies, they are fierce fighters that have handed ISIS their butts on multiple occasions.
