Good Morning Morons. Today is Thursday, February 05, 2015. On this day in 2014 (one year ago) this was my first post of the morning news.

The IRS has reinstated employee bonuses that were revoked as a result of IRS illegal activities. This has caused a lot of hot air to emanate from Orrin Hatch (don't know why they have the pic of Trey Gowdy). Hell, it's only logical to reinstate the bonuses. Obama has reinstated the targeting of conservatives.

So here we are one year later, not only has nobody been charged for multiple felonies, but nobody was fired, nobody has been punished in any manner, and they all got their bonuses. And from news reports I have seen during the past year the illegal practice of using the IRS as a political weapon continues.

RINOs float a plan to replace Obamacare.

Congressional Republicans are unveiling what they say is a new plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare, but the blueprint, as they call it, looks an awful lot like what's been floated before.

The Patient Choice, Affordability, Responsibility and Empowerment, or CARE Act was crafted by Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C.[84/88], Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch, R-Utah [75/92], and House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich. [72/76]

RINOs all and note how they say "Congressional Republicans". Do I think Trey Gowdy supports this bill? I seriously doubt it, just the RINOs and the RNCe.

MD has some of the most severe gun control laws in the country and it is against federal law for "yoots" to posses a handgun. Reid was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence, battery on a protected person, driving in or across a median, failure to obey or comply with an officer, violation of the seatbelt requirement and possession of a gun while under the influence of alcohol. A criminal complaint had not been filed as of Wednesday afternoon and no court date had been set.

39 AL auto plant (bearings) will once again fight the Obama packed NLRB to get a union out of its plant. The NLRB rejected the election that refused the union and called for another in which more votes were cast than the entire plant workforce. I am not up on all the nuances of labor law in these kinds of situations but it would seem to me that they should be able to bypass the corrupt Obama NLRB and go straight to court, perhaps even an AL court. I still think the NLRB should be totally eliminated.

Senate vote to kill funding for Obama's illegal amnesty failed. Since this was a "funding bill" this crap about needed 60 votes is BS.

The vote in the Senate was 53 to 47, similar to Tuesday's vote on a similar procedural measure, and well short of the 60 votes that would be needed to open debate on a House-passed Homeland Security measure.

I throw the BS flag on that paragraph. Republicans failed to invoke the rules that allow cloture with a simple majority on budget bills.

107 It seems to me that the King of Jordan could do himself some good both at home and abroad by sending troops into Iraq to secure some of the western desert parts of Iraq. Those areas are sparsely settled and an air mobile strike to cut off Rutha followed by tanks and troops along the roads to take the border towns and then secure the road to Rutha would safeguard the border with Jordan and capture a bunch of ISIS prisoners to be hung.

If that goes well and the Jordanians are feeling particularly frisky, they could go north and secure the town of Al Quaim and possibly Abu Kamal on the Syrian side of the border. This would cut off one of the ISIS connections between Syria and Iraq as well as putting some oil wells under Jordanian control.

Once these areas are secured, Jordan can start relocating Palestinian refugees to these areas. When the Jordanians eventually leave, the Palestinians remain.

132 Most people don't realize the movie Apocalypse Now is actually based on the life of Brian Williams.

Brian was doing a story somewhere in the Orient, but it was badly over-budget, and he had a bunch of locals running around doing his bidding, much to the chagrin of the network.

So they sent a young, hotshot producer in to cut off Brian's access to camera's and microphones. Brian tried to explain to this young producer how the network setup was a sham, and that the only way to REALLY get the hard-hitting story was to live among the locals, to become like them.

The producer was unfazed, in spite of being held up by Brian in a karaoke bar for hours. The producer even had the audacity to cut up one of Brian's headshots.

Brian's last words to him: The horror...the HORROR!

Well, you know, that is a possibility too. One of the often repeated tropes about Iraq was that it might eventually break up into a Sunni, Shiite and Kurd nation. There is no particular reason that the Sunni part has to be controlled by murderous lunatics like ISIS rather than the more benevolent and rational Hashemite monarchy. For a lot of Sunnis in Iraq, ISIS probably seemed like a good deal at first since they were getting screwed by the Shiite Maliki government after Obama pulled all the US troops out. Since Arabs don't seem to have particularly strong affections for democracy, a benevolent king probably seems like a better deal.

Relocating the Palestinians to the border areas is a kind of poison pill for the countries who currently own that territory. The message is that if you do succeed in taking this land back, you will have to deal with several million of these troublesome fuckheads.

It would not surprise me if Israel would contribute equipment, logistics and eve air support if they could relocate the populations of the West Bank and Gaza to western Iraq and eastern Syria. The government of Lebanon might even be inclined to look the other way if Israel came across the border to relocate Palestinians out of camps in southern Lebanon for new homes in the sunny climes of Iraq. Presumably, the UN can feed them there as well as they do in their present locations.

And if the Palestinians do prove to be too much bother for Jordan, they can just move the border back ten miles and recognize the new Palestinian state or leave them for Iraq, Syria or ISIS to deal with.

166 As much as we mock him, I was wondering if anybody here ever actually has watched Cosmos with Neil deGrass Tyson? I did. I was at the library looking for books for my 2nd grader and saw a DVD of the Cosmos series and though I'd try it, think maybe it has some redeeming value and maybe my son would learn something..

Truth is it was far worse than I ever imagined. Tyson is a pompous condescending jackass. The level of science, if you can call it that, was at 4th grade level at best. And most of the science was just global warming, pollution and capitalism is destroying the planet and ancient civilzations were much better and wiser than anything we have today. One thing I learned is that Venus was once an idylic lovely plant, much like earth before man came around. Then carbon dioxide destroyed it and turned it into the hellish desert it is today. The heat has nothing to do with the act that it is 30% closer o the sun The pompous condescending jackass actually said that. Oh, and the Geat Library of Alexandria, was man's greatest accomplishment ever and the result of a civilization that gave great importance to education (unlike us) It was eventually destroyed by a Tea Party-like mob that hated evolution and vaccines. (Actually it was probably an earthqhake and fire but that doesn't fit the narrative)

I watched about 2 and a half shows and couldn't take it any more. And this is what the "I Love Science Crowd) is impressed with? Anybody that has sat through college level physics, math, chemistry or engineering course as seen better, more interesting speakers and certainly been exposed to more real science. But obviously that is not the point of the series. It seemed, from what I saw, an exerciser confirm in the mind of it's viewers that they are smart if they watch the show and agree with the material presented and everybody else is dumb. Maybe Tyson is actually intelligent but he comes across as a pompous condescending jackass, which may not be fair to pompous condescending jackass as some of them are actually quite knowledgeable.

Finally went to an ER, but it had passed. Apparently they would always break up when they hit my bladder. My ureters were now stretched out enough that I didn't have much trouble after that.

I did have to have a stuck one extracted a few years later, and that was not fun. Came close to punching a nurse when she removed the catheter afterward....

I don't get the Big Fuss about Jordan's reaction, anyway.

So they hung a couple of terrorists they had in inventory and dropped a few bombs. To me, that comes off more as a hissy fit than determination to send ISIS packing.

Yeah, they showed more spine than Choom Boy ever has, but that's not saying much.

259 Foreign Policy magazine this week announced the results of its 2014 Ivory Tower survey of 1,615 international relations scholars from 1,375 U.S. colleges.

One question they were asked was: "Who was the most effective U.S. secretary of state of the past 50 years?"

The winner? Nobel Peace Prize winner Henry A. Kissinger, who was secretary for four years during the Nixon and Ford administrations. Since the Vietnam thing didn't turn out so well, the scholars must have been grading him on openings to China and the Soviet Union?

Kissinger got 32.21 percent of the vote, which is extraordinary in such a large field.

"Don't Know" came in a relatively distinct second, with 18.32 percent.

Then, dead last, is John Kerry. He also got a total of only five votes and tied Eagleburger's 0.31 percent, but the magazine lists him at 13th.

Yeah I saw that HOWEVER, I think you are taking that our of context. I am pretty sure that is a stock photo. At the time Jordan was flying it's first air strike with F-16s, which the King is NOT qualified to fly, he was at the town of the dead Jordanian Airmen who was burned alive paying a condolence call and the F-16s buzzed the town and the King on the way back so I think that report in Weasel Zippers is a tad FUBAR.

The reason that I use the word "Alert" is that in the world of 22 ammo, the time between an item being posted by a seller, and being sold out may often be a matter of five to ten minutes.

Do a search of this site, and see the number of times that one commenter has said 'Thank you, grabbed a box" and another commenter two minutes later posting "It just sold out"

It's a highly fluid rat race, with enough Morons commenting that they appreciate the effort that I put into tracking the stuff down, that I keep doing it.

Also, one recent commenter reported that it was showing as sold out, and after I returned to the sellers site and saw it was NOT showing as out of stock, and after following the suggestion to clear his cache, responded with "Oh, there it is....in stock"
A not small number of commenters here have memberships with Sportsman's Guide.
It's a personal choice.
SG is not the major seller that I point out, as it's usually Cabela's who carries the rimfire stuff.
And the rimfire has the strongest following of commenters trying to purchase it.

Nobodies playing games.
Nobody has a secret message.
Nobody has a hidden agenda.'

And try clearing your cache.

I honestly don't understand why this is shocking.

If we collectively pay for the health care of society, then each I (as a stakeholder in your health) get a voice in how you spend my money. It means I get a vote on who you fuck, what drugs you do, how often you drink, how often you exercise, what you eat, your mode of transportation, et al.

All of those things become my friggin business because I'm the one paying for it.

A fat tax is the next logical step. Obesity drives up costs. That's simply a fact. The reasons FOR an individual's obesity aren't relevant at this point in the conversation.

Those costs, therefore, need to be shared amongst the collective.

B) Fake a phone call to yourself and tell your wife that your evil twin brother has escaped from the institution last week and if you had known he was loose you never would have pulled an all nighter at work last night.

I always respond to 'BUT THE CRUSADES!!' with a simple question: Why was the first Crusade begun?
It's stunning how little awareness the left has.
Should
that actually lead to an honest conversation - which does happen on
occasion - I ask the next question: Are you truly suggesting we have to
compare 2015's Islam with 1200's Christianity?
If the
conversation continues, I drop the big one: Mohammed himself led the
extermination of entire peoples. Please point out for me the peoples
exterminated by Jesus - not some misguided 'follower' of His, but Christ
himself.
This line of questioning either leads to a willingness to confront hard truths about Islam or frothing sputtering.
Either way, I win.

422 We're so fucked.

The technological gap between liberals and conservatives is so wide I don't see how we can ever compete.

Liberals have cadres of hyper-competent geeks flying around with jet packs tweaking every left wing website to run flawlessly, while we draw with charcoal on cave walls.

They have websites like Huffington Post, littered with ads that run perfectly. Commentators at Gawker can use gifs, tifs, and shit we don't even know the abbreviations for, while our sites rely on Pixy.

Right wing websites like Daily Caller and Breitbart can't load a page without dimming an entire city's lights, while servers try to figure out 11 million lines of contradictory code. No one has the patients to wait for an article or enough time to de-hose their computer that is still waiting for some script to stop running.

We truly are the stupid party.

Yes, but the thing is, the violence of the Crusades and Inquisition were directly contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ, who, as many know, repeatedly and explicitly disavowed the use of violence, and counseled His followers to "turn the other cheek" and "love thy neighbor as thyself."

The current violent Muslim jihads, by contrast, are in direct conformance with the dictates of Muhammad as set forth in more than 140 verses of the Quran (in which Muslims are repeatedly encouraged to maim, subjugate, and kill non-believers, and warned that there will be adverse consequences in heaven for those Muslims who don't comply).

469 I think the great point of love, and sadly, I am not there, is that eventually (hopefully) everyone loses their looks. People gain weight, lose teeth, lose hair, get wrinkles, things sag, things shrink. I think as long as two people love each other and go into it understanding and respecting that their looks will change, for better or usually worse, everything's fine.

I think when one spouse is expected to keep up appearances, it can become an issue.

When I think of the couples I know in my life, my parents, aunts and uncles, and things like that...they love each other no matter what they look like, so they don't care that his hair has gone white or she has gained 50 lbs. I know other couples where the wife is "expected" to stay in shape or wear makeup all the time or keep their hair long (Seriously, I know someone who said her husband would divorce her if she cut her hair short) Trust me, my parents et al's relationships are much more stable than the latter.

And it's not possible to "justify" violence or even unfairness against other human beings "in the name of Christ" because Christ repeatedly and specifically and emphatically taught that such behaviors are wrong.

The same cannot be said of Muhammad, who himself lived a life of violence, and whose book of teachings (the Quran) contains over 100 verses in which Muslims are encouraged and exhorted to maim, subjugate, and kill non-believers (including "People of the Book," i.e., Christians and Jews), and warned of the adverse consequences to Muslims who fail to take up arms.

Of course staying in shape is a good idea. And health, is an utmost priority.

But to make it a requirement within a marriage. To make it something we criticize in our spouse....I don't know that that is the right thing, either. After all, the wedding vows say "for better or for worse, in sickness and in health." It doesn't say, "As long as you don't pudge out."

My mom doesn't acknowledge that my dad has gained weight, and vice versa. It works for them. I just think it is about mutual respect, that's all.

If it is approached from the avenue of, "Honey, I really want you healthy and around for a really long time, for our kids and grandkids," that's one thing. "You're looking a little blubbery, lately" isn't the way to do it.

It again goes back to whether one person cares for the other. Part of a marriage is attraction. Is there any obligation/duty/priority/whatever for one spouse to care for the other and make them happy?
What if one says, no? Your happiness isn't a concern, and the vows say that you're stuck.

496 I'm reminded of a Jimmy Stewart appearance on the old Jonny Carson "Tonight Show". Stewart discusses some movie where his character skis away from the bad guys. Fans would approach him and complement his athletic prowess. quasi-quoting: "Well, I started out having to tell them that I wasn't a skier, you know. I couldn't do all that skiing. It was a stunt double, and camera work, and Hollywood trickery. But as time went by I felt like I was disappointing my fans, and so I'd just modestly tell them, well, I didn't do ALL that skiing. The shots INCLUDED stunt doubles and all. But the more I responded the better my skiing got. Lately you know I just thank those people and suggest skiing is like riding a bicycle -- once you've gotten the basics down you can manage about anything... I don't say _I_ did it but I don't make any effort to correct anybody. Not bragging about myself you know but just not wanting to let my fans down..."
