It Was Just That One Time, Your Honor

In his fake lying non-apology, Williams implied -- he all but flat-out affirmed -- that he had only told his "shot down in Iraq" story a single time, in order to honor a dead general.

The Lie he admits to telling (calling it a "mistake") is in the video below.

But then What's This?

So... he has been telling this lie for a long, long time, just like the soldiers said he was, huh?

And so he lied to us again, huh?

And... in the 2003 NBC story, the headline ran:

Brian Williams was presumably a or the main source for this story.

Gee, he sure seems to have claimed to have been in a shot-down helicopter a whole lot more than once, huh?

He's been making this claim consistently since 2003. Twelve straight years of lying about it.

Or, as he puts it: "Misremembering" in order to pay tribute to a dead general.

Apparently the general once said to him, "Brian, if the Lord should ever call me home, I want you to do the things I never got to do -- especially Lying. It seems like so much fun, Brian. Lies are like the music of dreams. So when you pay tribute to me upon the event of my death and, ideally, dozens of times before then, I want you to Lie Like the Wind and claim to have been in a Chinook that was shot down by an Iraqi RPG. Do this for me, Brian. Do it for your General Buddy Pal."

So how could he have refused?

We have not lost. And they have not won. I admit it looks bad right now, but history is more often cyclical than linear, and we were a lot closer to Communism in the 30's than we are now. The interesting dynamic, I think, is just how extreme things have to get before people wake up and there's a backlash, as when Churchill took over from the appeasers. I think we're close, and that the 2014 elections were a foretaste.

By the time of the next election, a principal issue on the minds of the electorate may well be "can this person cope with ISIS?"

Could it be that you were all so simple then.
Or has time rewritten every line.
If I had the chance to do it all again
Tell me would we? Could we?

Mismemories may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to misremember we simply choose to forget embellish.

111 From CNN money: Lance Reynolds, who was quoted in news accounts about the March 24
incident, wrote on Facebook, "Sorry dude, I don't remember you being on
my aircraft."

Reynolds continued, "I do remember you walking up about an hour after we
had landed to ask me what had happened. Then I remember you guys taking
back off in a different flight of Chinooks from another unit and
heading to Kuwait to report your 'war story' to the Nightly News. The
whole time we were still stuck in Iraq trying to repair the aircraft and
pulling our own Security."

Well, I have my own reality. What is reality, really? It's a subjective appreciation made by each person, based on his own experiences, and of course his race, sex, and class. So we all have our own reality, and who's to say one person's reality is better than another's?

317 I just watched the immolation video on Fox's site and have to admit I am more troubled than ever. I guess I expected a terrorist version of Reefer Madness or something, with crappy sound, grainy video, basically a bush league murder porn flick.

But that's not what this is. This shit looks like a reverse episode of 24 or a similar Hollywood production. It has pace, high-end graphics, a storyline, and a rationale for what they are doing.

People from the West are helping these guys and this is serious propoganda. If you can stand the murder scene (it's maybe 3-5 minutes of the 22 minute video) then you should watch it IMHO.

I have to admit I thought I fully appreciated what we are dealing with but I was wrong. These fuckers aren't barbarians, they're evil beyond belief.

Officials are caught lying constantly and media people like Williams cover for them.

Ah, but you say, a "journalist" has to appear credible. Except how many of them do? Nah, they see their job as pushing the Narrative. In the twisted moral world Williams inhabits, what's lying and what's truth? They all lie so f'ing much it's become natural and normal and only rarely do they get caught. In the case of the NY Times and other dead tree media, they can bury their corrections on p 23A. An anchor can't do that.

427 Okay, I expanded on my comment at #311. Interestingly, I didn't have to change many lyrics.

What would Brian Williams do
If he was here right now,
He'd tell a lie
And he'd say it's true,
That's what Brian Williams'd do.

When Brian Williams was in the Olympics,
Skating for the gold,
He did two Salchows and a triple lutz,
While wearing a blind fold.

When Brian Williams was in the alps,
Fighting grizzly bears,
He used his magical fire breath,
And saved the maidens fair.

So what would Brian Williams do
If he were here today,
I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two,
That's what Brian Williams'd do.

He saved troops from Chinook debris,
Shot down by men trying just to be free.

And he just wants his Dems
To win all the elections.

He'd watch his daughter filming sex scenes, too,
Cause that's what Brian Williams'd do.

And what would Brian Williams do,
He'd safely get us down,
And put our story on the news
That's what Brian Williams'd do.

When Brian Williams travelled through time
To the year 3010,
He fought the evil robot kings
and saved the human race again

And when Brian Williams built the pyramids,
He beat up Kublai Kahn.

Cause Brian Williams doesn't take shit from an-y-body

So let's all get together,
And unite to stop our mom's
And we'll save a newsman's career too,
Cause that's what Brian Williams'd do.

And we'll save a newsman's career too,
Cause that's what Brian Williams'd dooooo,
That's what Brian Williams'd do.

499 Meanwhile, back to earth, we're still screwed big time by the biggest narcissist pussy "president" in our nation's history.

I can't say enough how I loathe the LIVs who re-elected this prissy, cowardly, ghey douchebag to the highest office in the world.

He'll yawn and make stupid, vapid comments when one of our major city's is taken out. Mark my words.

Because HE JUST DOESN'T CARE. He hates this country and all it stands for. And his mindless followers do, too.

All I really did was make the connection that that song, with minor modifications, would apply really well to this particular situation.

Makes me wonder if we're going to get a creepy tell-all bio from the daughter once it's clear her 15 minutes is just about over.

I wouldn't be surprised if her childhood makes Lena Dunham's look like Mayberry RFD in comparison.

512 317 I just watched the immolation video on Fox's site and have to admit I am more troubled than ever.

One of her two owlets hatched yesterday. It's cold, rainy, and miserable tonight. The male makes her come to him for food on a nearby tree (bastard). The poor little baby is left in the cold.

Anyhow, after both babies have hatched, experts believe the older and stronger one will try to kill off the weaker sibling. By driving it off the nest.

591 Way into the 500's. Guess I'm a little late.
I just had a random thought, for any of you that remember Gordon. He was a much-maligned poster who kept posting though everyone hated him (not here, and this was ten years ago) .
Now, there is this one moo-moo, who gets slimed a bit (it's kind of a tradition now) yet keeps on posting. Like Gordon.

592 Uh, guys, Daily Mail has an article up about Harry Reid's brother.

Let's just say I now have an alternate theory of how Harry Reid broke his face.

"Harry Reid's brother, 73, arrested for DUI, assaulting an officer and possession of a gun while under the influence"

His brother's name is Larry.

593 I was already well aware that these are real monsters

As was I. My nephew is a Marine in the ME and I watch and read everything about the conflict there I can get my hands on.

My point was that there's more to learn from the video than the particulars of the murder. I respect y'alls decision not to watch, and I'm not trying to talk anyone into doing anything they don't want to do.

596 Still, an international coalition of experts on climate change, family planning and development aid are now pushing for universal access to family planning to be recognized as a part of "climate-compatible development" and included in new U.N.-backed Sustainable Development Goals set to be agreed in September.

I was going to the worst place in the world and I didn't even know it yet. Weeks away and hundreds of miles up a river that snaked through the war like a main circuit cable plugged straight into Kurtz. It was no accident that I got to be the caretaker of Colonel Walter E. Kurtz's memory any more than being back in Saigon was an accident. There is no way to tell his story without telling my own. And if his story really is a confession, then so is mine.

601 Yeah, Jerry Rivers is actually really impressively fit foe a guy his age. I found out Saturday when he was a guest on local boy Craig Silverman's radio show that Rivera gets several newspapers delivered every day, and he gets on his exercise bike and keeps pedalling until he's read all those fishwraps from cover to cover.

607 Hi Blacksheep, can't read all the comments, but I saw yours about the immolation video. I was OK joking about it until I watched it. I'm not a hardened person and it really shook me. That and the Saudi lady getting decapitated with a dull blade.
I'm 58 and have never seen this kind of mayhem.
So, here's to coping, brother!

is there film of Brian "I got shot down" Williams defending John "I was in Cambodia and got a Purple Heart" Kerry

Williams defending Kerrys lapses in memory?

oh that would be funny

609 Brian Williams should be driven from the court of public opinion for this lie. Can you imagine the reaction if a prominent conservative journalist were caught doing something like that?

614 I suspect what really happened to Harry Reid is, he failed to deliver on promises he made to certain people who helped him in his last reelection campaign.

He made a big point of doing absolutely nothing for years, and then it became clear that he wouldn't be able to do much more than that when the Dems became the minority party in the Senate.

So, he received a little visit from some scary dudes.

622 Brian Williams announced today that what he said had happened that one time at band camp really didn't. He was mistaking something heard in a movie as something he actually experienced. But he was in the same room as the movie was playing... so you can see how he could have thought it was him.

He was caught up in the emotion of the moment.
