Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Leftwing Hollywood Dummies Form "Artists for Warren," Encouraging Far Left Non-Indian Elizabeth Warren to Run for PresidentIt's like a Murderer's Row of Dumb. Susan Sarandon, Olivia Wilde and Edward Norton are among the more than 90 entertainers urging Sen. Elizabeth Warren to throw her hat in the 2016 presidential race. Two out of three Hulks. I guess that's pretty good. Some other links: Here's the guy who started the modern convulsion of anti-vax paranoia with his admittedly fraudulent Lancet "study." Interesting piece by the Hoover Institute on anti-vax panic, and a student's lawsuit to compel school administrators to ban un-inoculated students from attending school at all, so that he himself won't be exposed to their risk. Gallup: Real unemployment is at 7.1% and real underemployment (working a temp job instead of a full time one) is at a quite high 15.9%. Obama's bloodless reaction to the burned-alive Jordanian pilot is getting a lot of reaction. (Many point out that he claimed to not know who had done this.) This guy is annoyed. Good Lord, Obama plainly just wants to go back to watching Sports Center and Homeland. Good piece by VDH on Obama's foreign policy: It only seems baffling if you assume he's trying to advance the interests of America. A third gender -- "neutral" -- is recognized by, get this, a university in Vermont. Josh Earnest won't say if Obama supports mandatory vaccinations, so of course the media is free to assume whatever answer is most politically helpful to the Democrat cause at any moment. If "To Catch a Mockingbird" were released today, Atticus Finch would be reviled as a pro-rape villain. You know that woman, promoted by Senator Kristin "I like my gals plump" Gillibrand? The one walking around with a mattress to protest the university taking no action in her rape complaint, and in fact clearing the accused? Yeah, here's why they took no action and in fact cleared the accused. Yet Gillibrand continues promoting this woman, and no one questions her about it. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

So glad I don't put money into any Hollyweird pockets.
Speaking of things I don't do, I also don't watch pro sports. I understand there was some sort of high profile sporting event last weekend where two gangs of wealthy mercenary thugs competed to move a ball around a field, and one of the two gangs scored some more points than the other gang, and hence won. Well, whatever. But it did warm the cockles of my heart to realize that the gang of wealthy mercenary thugs who lost was the gang from whose ranks Obama had recruited two of the thugs to make TV ads -- ads in which the two thugs urged people to sign up for Obamacare, a system in which said wealthy thugs will personally never have to participate. So that's one little piece of schadenfreude right there. Posted by: torquewrench at February 03, 2015 08:43 PM (noWW6) 61

His "art", such as it is, tends to express a strongly libertarian --dare I say? -- even a CONSERVATIVE-leaning libertarian streak, with themes of mistrust of government, rejection of authoritarianism, personal responsibility, and equality.
Yet get him to open his mouth to speak for Joss Whedon, and it's clear that Joss Whedon himself has no idea what kinds of things Joss Whedon the artist is advancing through entertainment. Posted by: Brendon Carr at February 03, 2015 09:03 PM (pUvuE) 132

I actually found something interesting in a comp game yesterday that seemed kind of funny.
Dying light is a zombie game. Short explanation is that a zombie virus runs rampant through a Turkish-like city and you (the main character) are dropped in to retrieve the McGuffin. So, the game has two distinct areas, a slum like area and a upper class, old world area. There are random encounters salted throughout the game where you speak with various people who are hiding out. In the upper end area I ran across a guy who started in on a groan inducing rant (remember, this is during a zombie apocalypse with hungry dead people everywhere.) He starts in about the really dangerous people are the ones used to living like kings and queens and suddenly finding out they have nothing. Used to deciding, blah-blah-blah. It is a fairly long class invective. The main character listens to all this quietly and then says something like (in a tone of backing away slowly): "Yeah, I'll keep an eye out for the hordes of ravening 1%ers." I liked how that ended. It spoke to me. Posted by: Aetius451AD at February 03, 2015 09:21 PM (wt/Oq) 201

I saw "Birdman" last weekend.
Edward Norton was in it- playing an obnoxious but talented, pain in the ass actor. He was good in the part and I thought "gee why haven't I seen more of this guy in movies lately". Then I remembered...he's supposed to be an obnoxious but talented, pain in the ass actor... So....yeah...he should have been good in that role. Hey, guys!
Since it's on-topic here, I thought I should clarify what I was saying last night about the HPV vaccine. I didn't mean that I wouldn't get it for my kids; just that I don't like it. I hate the fact that sex is becoming something, as Lenin put it, "of no more consequence than drinking a glass of water." That was his goal, and we're well on the way to that. Part of being a grown-up is doing things you don't want to do, though, and I'm sure if I had kids ensuring their continued health would be the most important thing in the world to me. But I still wouldn't like it. I just think that was a little unclear because it was late and I'd had more to drink than I should've. Yep. Obama was on the ropes. Then the Obama oppo team, in the nick of time, got the goods on Mitt's carefully concealed families #2, #3 and #4. After that, it was just about not making it too obvious that Mitt was deliberately taking a dive. They nearly blew it on that part. Posted by: torquewrench at February 03, 2015 09:49 PM (noWW6) 300

Did mattress girl report her "rape" to the police?
No. When asked about it, she said she couldn't take the exhaustion (or some similar word) but she was carrying the mattress to symbolize her burden. What's funny is all the feminists trying to explain the behavior of this women being raped and not reporting it for months basically boils down to "bitchez be crazy" but they won't admit it. There seems to be an attempt to compare her to a battered wife, in that battered wives sometimes don't report their abuse to the police promptly. But this guy wasn't her husband or boyfriend. She was apparently a friend with benefits 3-4 times. She'll be bigger than the hulk before the school year is over from carrying that thing around. Nip - Pretty good snow yesterday. 2"-3" with gusty winds. Ground was warm though, snow mostly gone. Looks like more cold in a day or two. The local lake isn't frozen, so I consider it a mild winter, thus far.

I suspect she carries it only at certain times, usually when a magazine is doing a puff piece. Posted by: AmishDude at February 03, 2015 10:02 PM (b4b5c)" A couple of stories. I knew a fellow who was in Teheran when the US Embassy staff were held by the terrorists in the last year of Jimmy Carter's reign. The area in front of the US Embassy was a bazaar all day until the same time every day when the cameras for the various news organization would show up. Then all the stalls would close and everybody grabbed their signs and started shouting "Death to America" until the newsies had their footage for that night's news and left. At that point, the signs went away and the stalls reopened. Brian Lamb said that he got the idea for C-SPAN based on his experience of watching protesters performing for the cameras and he thought it would be a good idea if people could see an entire event, not just the part that was edited for the evening news. Sort of like going to the Good Will or Salvation Army store. The boomers are dying. There is a lot of shit we have accumulated that our kids just want to get rid of. I mean really good shit. Most people at a give away store have no idea how expensive some of the shit they get is. No idea. So, like, I really need to accumulate more shit? I swear JJ I am not a tribe member.
