Boehner Invites Binyamin Netanyahu to Speak To Congress on Iran Nuke Program, After Obama Threatens Veto on Iran Sanctions;

So, Boehner is asking Netanyahu to speak before Congress on Iran, which is sort of like Woody Allen pulling out Marshall McLuhan from behind a wall in Annie Hall.
House Speaker John Boehner announced Wednesday he is inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress next month about the threat from Iran, in a sharp rebuke to President Obama.... The House speaker's office said Netanyahu will be invited to speak Feb. 11 before a joint session of Congress. The invitation comes as lawmakers weigh legislation, supported by Republicans and some Democrats, to tee up more sanctions against Iran in case negotiations fail to curtail the country's nuclear enrichment program. ... "Prime Minister Netanyahu is a great friend of our country, and this invitation carries with it our unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of his people," Boehner said in a statement. "In this time of challenge, I am asking the prime minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life."So this White House, which conducts its business entirely like a gaggle of eight-grade Mean Girls, in nothing but Snits, Slam-Books, and iPods containing the Alpha Girl's recorded thoughts, is of course revolting. Asked about the invite, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest described it as a breach of typical protocol since the White House wasn't involved.Or as the nasty little girls put it:

Yeah it's a little more complicated than that. Netanyahu and other Israeli leaders come here often to talk to American Jewish Groups and the such. And they do not need "permission", however, when relations are good, I am sure they inform the Administration in DC for protocol reasons. However when a Prime Minister is going to Address Congress, there is a more formal procedure that is usually used. Look I hate Fredo and he shits all over Netanyahu and Israel all the time, but it is not a good idea to put the Israeli Prime Minister in the middle of a fight between Congress and the President. And this is also interfering in Internal Israeli Politics, also not a great idea. As I said I think it is a bad idea, but what the F...ch, things are so F...ched up already

It's a stupid thing to do. For better or for worse, and it is for worse, Fredo can hurt Israel and Netanyahu bad over the next 2 years. And yeah it is interfering in internal Israeli Politics. If an American presidential candidate made a similar trip to Israel before an Election, it would also be considered that. The sole purpose of this, is to stick to the man, and the man being Fredo in this instance and boehner is using Netanyahu to do that. Disagree. Dear Leader has been shitting all over Israel since 2009. He's been arming it's enemies and then giving them free reign to surround it. He's done absolutely nothing to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Their history has taught them to be wary of an often hostile majority, thus they have always welcomed other minorities into the mix. So far he has been constrained by domestic political considerations. But with no more elections, as he is now proud of saying, those constraints maybe lifted. The Kennedys generally have a mystical appeal, at least in Boston when I lived there. As a Californian, I marveled at how they were regarded. Once on a bus someone's radio said that Rose Kennedy had been hospitalized, and a number of women made the sign of the cross on themselves, apparently not aware that Rose would have happily set the dogs on them had they fetched up at the Kennedy "compound."

To not act is to allow Iran's weapons programs to become even more extensive, dug in and ultimately operational.
To "act" (militarily at this point) may only marginally delay the program, as extensive and dug in as it is now, with layers-deep teams of scientists, more raw material, more centrifuges, more experience constructing them etc.
At that point you will also have conventional and terrorist retaliation, lots of conventional ballistic missiles coming in, and quite possibly a massive alienation of already shaky US "support"
An Isreali strike may be sufficient to set Iran back, but it doesn't have the sustained ability of the US to keep pounding the rubble or get at some of the most dug in areas (except perhaps with use of a nuke or two).
It was rational for Israel to wait out a few years while trying to buy more time in covert ops, cyber warfare etc to see if the US would wake up and chuck out Obamster, so that Israel could at least deal with Iran with a supportive US Pres
Now, given the onward march of Iran's program (F you very much Obama) Israel has even less unilateral capability (again, without the nuke option) to really take out or even seriously degrade Iran's program.
Bibi is not playing a very strong hand to take down the Iranian program, despite IDFs formidable defensive capability.
But if the US Congress can at least impose real financial/technical sanctions to the point that Iran's program could slow down enough to buy Israel another 2 years without Iran getting operational capability, they will at least be able to do what they need to do, God willing, with a President who will do what he can to help.
Or, Bibi may just be showing that "we did all we could" before he has to push The Button.

You have to look at the birth of socialism in context to the times. Jews had been persecuted in Russia and the pale of settlement for hundreds of years. Charity in the Biblical sense is a very important precept.
As for why so many Jews embraced the Commies, it was a way to fight against Tsarist persecution. Little did they realize what was in store for them from Stalin.
And when they came to America, they found anti-semitism to be rampant here as well, though not violent, but certainly exclusionary. Big city Democrat political machines like Tammany Hall welcomed them to help build their ranks in exchange for money and political favors, as they welcomed all immigrant groups. This is where the seed of Democrat for the little guy, Republicans for the big oppressive businessmen came about.
More complicated than that, but those nuggets kind of set the stage for the development of the Jewish mindset.

There were Jews in America since before the Revolution (ours, not Russia's), with no particular problem I'm aware of. I've wondered if the driver for anti-Semitism here was Russian Jews after the Pogroms of 1905 bringing their hard-left politics with them, and agitating to impose them on their adopted land. That would naturally generate the sort of enmity we see today directed toward Muslim immigrants wanting to implement sharia.

I think it began before that, in the mindset of the European Jews who saw conservative, royalist attitudes as antithetical to their freedom and social acceptance. For better or for worse, the revolutionaries of Europe tended to be friendlier toward the Jews.

Here's an alternate theory. In the not so distant past, one of the major problems that rabbis and others who thought about such things worried about was that America was such a welcoming environment that Jews were assimilating into the wider culture at an alarming rate and losing their Jewish identity. With intermarriage, many people would not even realize that they had any Jewish parentage within a couple of generations.
Why not import a whole lot of Jew haters who would be willing to do their best to return Jews to their status of hated and oppressed minority?
