They keep it in the family, don't they?The woman whose story of economic recovery was showcased by President Barack Obama in his State of the Union address is a former Democratic campaign staffer and has been used by Obama for political events in the past.Check the Free Republic for more; they have his quotes narrating the incredible success story of Rebecca "Please Use Me As A Prop" Erler. Obama forgot to mention her long years suckling at the teat of the Democrat-Government Industrial Complex. Oh, and you need to know she looks like this...
Rebekah Erler has been presented by the White House as a woman who was discovered by the president after she wrote to him last March about her economic hardships. She was showcased in the speech as proof that middle class Americans are coming forward to say that Obama’s policies are working. Unmentioned in the White House bio of Erler is that she is a former Democratic campaign operative, working as a field organizer for Sen. Patty Murray (D., Wash.). This also wasn't the first time the White House used the former Democratic campaign staffer as a political prop. Obama spent a "day in the life" of Erler in June so that he could have "an opportunity to communicate directly with the people he’s working for every day."

Federal Debt is at an all time high. 30yr yields are the lowest recorded. The Fed Funds Rate is in the basement. But we have- passed the crisis?
The number of people out of the workforce is the highest on record. Hourly wages are down. The only reason unemployment is down is due to people out of the workforce, part-time jobs and low paying jobs like bartenders and waitresses. And that's all just for the moment. But the economy is roaring again or something.

I mordantly predicted yesterday that the SCOAMF would take personal credit for lower gasoline prices in his big speech, and sure enough, he did.
I also predicted that the Republican response wouldn't make any mention of the fact that Obama originally wanted gasoline prices to go *up*, not down, and that in fact Obama's original plan with his original Secretary of Energy was to raise gas prices up to "European levels" of eight bucks a gallon.
Sure enough, the Republican response didn't say squat.
Overall, out of six points I predicted where Obama would make a false claim and that the Beltway GOP "response" wouldn't challenge that false claim, I came in at five and two-thirds.
The *only* area where Joni Ernst even got close to a challenge was mentioning the rise in health insurance premiums -- and she failed to link it to Obamacare!
I'd have to be a multilimbed Hindu goddess to perform a facepalm of magnitude sufficient unto the day. Epic, epic fail by the Republican establishment. Again.

It's complicated. He was "patriotic liberal" during the war, then more and more leftwing. But, went from Henry Wallace in '48 to Everett Dirksen in the late 60's. You know, I've never understood why the Republicans simply don't laugh uproariously whenever Obama gives the state of the union. Treat it all like a big joke - he's not taking it seriously, why should you? Give him a big standing O at the end and say "Bravo! More! More!" Don't bother preparing a rebuttal, or a news conference. Instead host a kegger for the reporters.
When asked about the speech, say how much you enjoyed the President's performance art project, and wish he would do more comedy like the SOTU and not be so serious all the time. End every interview with "Wait a minute - are you trying to say he was...serious?"
