Good Morning Morons. Today is Sunday, January 18, 2015. On this day in 1911 Eugene B. Ely landed on the deck of the USS Pennsylvania stationed in San Francisco Bay, and the aircraft carrier is born.

3 In a political move designed as a sop to the commie base, Obama calls for an income tax hike on those filthy rich people who make or inherit money so he can give more free shit to his base. A move designed solely to embarrass the Republican Party. But will it backfire and energize votes for Republicans?

I have a progressive friend who used to teach kindergarten in a low income neighborhood (which she chose because she wanted to make a difference!). Despite the school providing free breakfast, most parents couldn't be bothered to get their kiddos there early (before class) to partake. Should note that on a given day, at least half the kiddos' parents also couldn't bother to change them out of their pjs. My friend started grabbing food for them and bringing it to class just so that they wouldn't miss out. However, at some point she realized that she, and the school, were going to a lot of trouble to help people who couldn't be bothered to even *show up for FREE food.* Yeah, she stopped teaching shortly after this realization.

I was an LIV until the Clinton administration, and I was particularly miffed at Bill Clinton for trivializing the office of the presidency with his Lincoln bedroom sleepovers and Monica's bjs from under the Resolute Desk.
But this? I weep for my country, the way its greatness has been squandered to provide bread and circuses to the brain-dead.

As I said with the Big Block of Cheese day, Obama and his team don't want to be the actual president and WH staff, they want to play them on TV.

Thanks for the news, Vic. Helps wake me up for the day and get the old brain in gear.

We've got to go visit my cousin in the hospital this morning. She couldn't breathe last night, among other, longer-standing problems, and last we heard she was comatose-like, but responding well to treatment. Any spare Moron prayers appreciated for a really sweet woman who has been put through the wringer.

82 #80, Lizzie -- To me, the essence of the Choom Era was exposed a few days ago when the "Black Lives Matter" jerks were blocking I-93 here in MA. Slovenly, non-black pampered idiots, full of themselves and convinced that their Great Cause is more important than anything and anyone else.

When hauled into court, they were released (no bail) and are expected to come back later to answer for misdemeanor charges. It was all about them and what they want, and media, police and courts essentially let them get away with it.

I wanted to see them all lined up against a wall and issued blindfolds. I'm afraid that's the only solution to the disease that has infected our country from the top down.

Nelson Rockefeller, 1964 Republican Convention:

....the purpose of this minority were wholly alien to the sound and honest conservatism that has firmly based the Republican party in the best of a century's traditions, wholly alien to the sound and honest Republican liberalism that has kept the party abreast of human needs in a changing world, wholly alien to the broad middle course that accommodates the mainstream of Republican principles.

There is no place in this Republican party for those who would infiltrate its ranks, distort its aims, and convert it into a cloak of apparent respectability for a dangerous extremism.

Nor would the Te Party types get "observers" from some lawyer's group stationed nearby to make sure the protesters' "rights" weren't violated and that they had representation in court.

But of course people who believe in obeying the law generally don't pull stupid stunts like this that endanger innocent civilians. That behavior is for the Choom Gang.

A codependent relationship has been built over the decades with the dysfunctionals in society. Public shame used to work. Now it needs to go deeper -- pain will be needed as corrective action to change behavior. That message isn't too welcome.

The second one was quite good I thought. I haven't seen pt III yet. I thought the movies were good enough and I did enjoy them. But I know the book well. It's easy to see how people unfamiliar with the book, Rand in general to be baffled and quickly dismissive of the ideas.
At any rate, it's surprising that these movies were even made, and it was done fighting Hollywood all the way. No doubt the effort was sabotaged at many levels.
That said, it's not the greatest movie material anyway. It's too complex a story to distill into the short attention span of most casual audiences, in my opinion. The message in the book is not something that can be force fed into people, like you can do with the the typical Hollywood crap fest of socialism, boobs and loud obnoxious music.
Socialism is a really simple thing for people to see and digest, especially so for those that are pre-disposed to buy into it as they are conditioned to be after years of public school. "Vote for me and I will give you free healthcare. Rich people have plenty of money, they don't need it."
Asking them to use their brains is just a bridge too far.

Re: "To me, the essence of the Choom Era was exposed a few days ago when the
"Black Lives Matter" jerks were blocking I-93 here in MA."

Having lived in the Boston area, I fully appreciate what a mess this caused.
However, having also lived in the DC area, I can tell you that this behavior is not new in the Obama era. Everybody loves to come to DC and cause a ruckus - set fire to tires placed in the middle of the GW parkway during rush hour, march around downtown breaking store windows, march to and then attempt to enter the Pentagon, etc. The DC police chief while I was there, Charles Ramsey, was especially proactive in meeting w/protesters to set ground rules and then arresting them but quick if they stepped over the line. Same goes for the Alexandria, VA police. So the self-centered protesters would then complain about police abuse, such as not serving them vegan meals while being held for booking.

What certainly *has* changed is that our government is now on the protesters' side, and there is no longer swift action, but lectures that we must tolerate their activism because it is the challenge that will make change possible. Argh.

101 I'd like to point out that tens of millions of my fellow citizens voted for John Kerry to be the President of the United States.

I propose that a law be passed, and funding procured, to have the James Taylor "You've Got A Friend" moment replayed for these people in a manner similar to the "Ludovico Technique" in Clockwork Orange. They should be held in a chair, eyes propped open, and made to witness this slow-motion-Hindenburg over and over and over. They should have to witness the looks on the faces of the people in the crowd as they wince and almost audibly whisper "sacre bleu! What the f#*k?"

Only intense aversion therapy can save these people from a life of utter madness.

They must be reminded: YOU VOTED FOR THIS INFANT, AND FOR THE MAN HE NOW WORKS FOR. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

114 Good morning my precious poppets.

Mock me at your peril.

So yesterday I took a break from the present unpleasantness and went to the National Museum of American History on the Mall. Always good to stand back and get the long view once in a while. Now granted I was just grazing on history in my usual shallow cafeteria fashion, but for all its exhibits on presidents and politics it is really dedicated to the common man, and it was reinforced to me that our nation was built by private citizens: imagined and improved by the Edisons, Singers, and Corlisses, and woven together by roads and transport, and reinforced by a shared common pop culture. A display with a bulgemobile pulling into a diner with a juke box playing in the background just seemed to me to be the quintessence of it all, and I laughed at how much the left hates, hates, hates personal transportation and the freedom of the open road. They can try all they want but I don't think you can stamp it out of our character.

I emerged into the glorious afternoon weather feeling much better.
