1 Good Morning Morons. Today is Wednesday, January 14, 2015. On this day in 1639 the Fundamental Orders, considered by many historians to be the first written constitution that created a government, was adopted in Connecticut. That document is an interesting read considering what the courts have ruled our current constitution means as far as what the separation of church and State means.

2 I guess this is what those liberal idiots were talking about yesterday when they referenced Christian terrorists.

A former Ohio country club bartender, who told authorities that he was Jesus Christ, threatened to murder House Speaker John Boehner last fall because he believed the Ohio congressman was responsible for Ebola, according to records made available Tuesday.

10 A jailed sex offender Democrat resigned his seat and his Party and ran again as an independent; and won handily. I am sad for this country. He avoided a felony conviction through a plea bargain, which is another whole can of worms in our failed justice system. He also has a long record of other misconduct and has managed to avoid any felony conviction, which would have barred him from running in VA. He has also been disbarred and that takes some doing now-a-days. He represents a minority majority district.

So according to the NYT he is guilty of "thought crimes". It is fine to appoint a "public" employee to a school board in NY that is a member of a racist organization but is a terrible thing to have a devout Christian as a fire chief in Atlanta.

Good news, everyone! The party of fiscal responsibility and lower taxes is hard at work:

GOP House chairman circulates online sales tax draft

Under current law, states can only collect from businesses that have a physical location within their borders. Under the discussion draft, states that joined a multistate clearinghouse would have the authority to collect sales tax revenue on out-of-state purchases. Retailers would charge sales taxes based on their own state and local rates, not the rate of the customers. The clearinghouse would then divide the sales tax revenue among its member states.

.When we lived in Connecticut most large cities gave ID cards to illegals. There was only one reason for that, to let them vote, and vote they did.

The Mayor of Bridgeport claimed it would allow them to "come out of the shadows and lead normal lives and be able to cash their paychecks without fear of being arrested". I call BS on any plan to give illegals ID cars. It is just a ploy to let them vote without having their ballot questioned.

Perhaps this was already covered, dunno. I just ran across it.

Is the White House a 'Sleeper Cell'?

I started this post thinking it was kind of funny. I liked the hed --- "Is the White House a 'Sleeper Cell'?" It reminded me of, um... Charlie Hebdo. But actually it's not so funny. And it's not impossible. We know something close already happened during the communist era (Alger Hiss), and the Israelis famously planted an agent, Eli Cohen, at the highest echelons of the Syrian government until he was caught via the KGB and hanged in the central square of Damascus. They say it was Cohen's reports that were responsible for the rapid Israeli success against the Syrians in the Six-Day War.

But a "sleeper cell" in the White House? It would certainly explain Obama's not going to France, which was a decision that hurt the USA, hurt the effort against Islamic terror and hurt the president's already tarnished reputation into the bargain. There are so many other things that the existence of a White House "sleeper cell" would explain that I couldn't even begin to count them. And as you know, a cell doesn't have to be violent to be active. There are many ways to do damage.

But who would be a member of this cell? Is it one or all of them? Well that, I am sorry to say, I cannot tell you. I do not have the proper clearance. You are, however, free to guess. Who would stop you?

We have a ginormous deficit and a court ruled the AZ state legislature denied billions in funding to our school districts in contravention of a voter approved revenue proposition

Of course as we all know AZ dconomy collapsed post 07 housing bubble financial crash so...there was NO $$ to give the schools!!!

But Judges do t care, AZ must magically find billions to fund schoolsand why are schools full? Our kids have herb leaving in DROVES for charter schools

You know why. DACA and open borders

SCOTUS already ruled years ago states MUST pay to educate illegals

Our new Gov has his work cut out for him

Ask the mayor how many illegal aliens have been arrested in Bridgeport for simply trying to cash a paycheck. Go ahead and check, mayor, we'll wait.

Yeah, that's right: zero. Illegal aliens don't get arrested for trying to cash checks; hell, most of the time they don't even get arrested for serious crimes. And when they do get arrested, they don't get deported. So what is it again that these "good, law-abiding illegal aliens" are so afraid of?

202 So... last night my grandmother passed away.

Well, to be more accurate, the withered husk of a simulacrum of what had been my grandmother finally passed away.

She had been a wonderful grandmother. My mom and aunt, her two daughters, say she had mellowed since they were kids; I'm sure that's true. To the grandchildren, however, she was never anything other than "Granny." When I was a small child, she and my Grampa (passed away a few years ago) would come visit every now and again, just because. When I had chicken pox and my parents couldn't stay home with me, she came and stayed for about a week.

She made cookies which I'm sure I love because I'll forever think of them as "granny cookies." A fairly simple chocolate ganache (I didn't know that term back then) between two graham crackers. Don't bother comparing them to S'mores (or, as my family calls them in comparison: "s'lesses").

One summer she made me 3 "birthday" cakes in a week, because I asked her to (my birthday is in December).

When we'd visit her church, or she'd be visiting ours, she'd give me Certs like they were candy.

On my more hopeful days, I think she's been with God for 15 years- ever since Alzheimer's disease took her away from us. On my more cynical days, I fear she's been trapped, a soul screaming for release, in a body over which she had no control.

In either case, I know she's home today. He "some glad morning" has come. She's got her mansion over the hilltop.

The post wasn't about the obama's imho.

He pulled this part from Huckabee's book.

...went out last week, the media immediately singled out an astonishing attack on pop culture icons Beyoncé and Jay Z. For a candidate who has touted his appeal to black voters (he won 48% of blacks in a gubernatorial election many, many years ago, he will be quick to tell you), this is utterly tone deaf...

Not to mention he's bashing an incredibly strong, independent, woman.

He can vote Republican in every election, it doesn't matter. He is actively for an agenda that has great and terrible consequences if seen to its logical end, and he is either unable or unwilling to admit that there is any downside for society in his pursuit of it.

They are just your garden variety "extremists", who have nothing to do with Islam. Even though they clearly state they are doing it in the name of Islam, which justifies their actions. And are funded by groups like IS and AQ. Which are know terrorist organizations. Whose philosophy and perceived grievances are based on Islam. Which is why they are ruthlessly murdering and decapitating people who are not Muslim. Which is the reason they gave us for the terrorism on September 11th.

So basically, Islamic Extremists are to be defended at all costs, including throwing your fellow American under the bus, just because he's a bit more lucid, logical, able to grasp facts history. Oh yes, and he's sane.

Well, maybe not.

But I'm semi-serious about that "explain the moral difference" thing.

Either a canned food item is not useful as a weapon, in which case bringing it to school is worse than useless (imparting, as it would, a false sense of security), or it *is* useful as a weapon, in which case (since the point of bringing it would be to use it as a weapon) there is no real difference between it and a baseball bat, or a knife, or even a gun.

353 Either a canned food item is not useful as a weapon, in which case bringing it to school is worse than useless (imparting, as it would, a false sense of security), or it *is* useful as a weapon, in which case (since the point of bringing it would be to use it as a weapon) there is no real difference between it and a baseball bat, or a knife, or even a gun.

If we allow large canned goods in schools, isn't there a danger the students will use them on each other, or on the teachers? And what if some student dropped a can on his or her toe? Letting canned corn in seems like a slimy slope to me.

People like this school principal are so deeply vested in the notion of "guns are evil, dangerous, deadly, etc." that they simply cannot bring themselves to recognize the need for a forceful, proportionate response to violence. Hence the fig leaf approaches to defending schools.

379 Considering all the things that Obama has done to ruin this country, not attending the Paris march is not the sort of thing I care about. But since it is without substance, naturally it's the one thing the Media will criticize Obama about. Kind of like wearing the wrong tie or something.

Much as I sympathize with the victims of islamic terrorism, all the marches in the world aren't going to help. Unless they are of armed soldiers, weapons aimed and just about to fire, advancing on every mosque on the planet.

394 People like this school principal are so deeply vested in the notion of "guns are evil, dangerous, deadly, etc." that they simply cannot bring themselves to recognize the need for a forceful, proportionate response to violence. Hence the fig leaf approaches to defending schools.

Combined with their blind assumption that "unarmed teenagers" cannot be dangerous (and the unspoken assumptions which fuel that), it makes them more dangerous than if they just came out and said "No, you have no right to defend yourself."

It's based on the same philosophy as places that prohibit carrying guns (30.06 notices here in Texas), and the reason I believe that any place that says I cannot carry a gun should be legally and civilly liable for my safety.

Gabe-bashing is why I stopped reading the morning thread. I can't believe it's still going on. He took a lot of undeserved crap.

I disagree with Gabe on a few important things but we have too much in common and I appreciate his point of view.

We all disagree on something. I'm not going to go off on, say, fellow Jewish morons--or for that matter, Ace--about Jesus or fellow Catholic morons about Mary. We should be bigger than that.

If conservatives engage in petty purity wars we're going to end up with another Romney or McCain getting beaten in 2016.
