17 Re: Ben Domanech and the NYPD. The ability to revolt against authority in ways short of armed rebellion is a characteristic of democracy, not a threat to it. The mayor publicly sided with people who are now assassinating his police, and he's too arrogant to make amends. The police told everyone that enforcement would go down because they will be more careful and double up on patrols. That this means fewer parking tickets and less revenue for the city is merely a fortunate coincidence.

In short, Mr. Domanech is kind of hysterical. And it saddens and amuses me for a writer at the Federalist to get in such a tizzy about armed appendages of the state refusing to bother people for minor infractions as much as their communist leader desires. It's stupid.

(The people who were whispering to, e.g., Todd Akin "No, brazen it out, Todd, they'll love you, you can WIN..." or telling Bachmann or Santorum "Yes, you need to be in the field to BRING UP THE ISSUES..."). The only path to getting the nomination so he can hand the General to the Donks is through a field of zillion not-Jebs. "What to Expect in 2015"

Nothing good, I'll wager.
====================
What to expect?

1. Obummer destroys the economic recovery before it can gain momentum. Again.

2. Obummer sends troops back into Afghanistan after the Taliban takes over and mocks him. (And Pakistan threatens to reveal some major dirt on GWOT if he doesn't help.)

3. Putin conquers the rest of Ukraine while Obummer is on his second summer golf trip. No one who is not Ukranian cares.

4. Kim Jong Un announces that Star Wars VII is offensive to evil empires and he doesn't want it shown anywhere. Disney sends him a letter saying they respect his views, since he is the leader of a nice little country, and they would think it a tragedy if something bad happened to him and to it.

5. At least three presidential election campaigns are started by candidates who will not become the nominees of their parties.

6. John McCain is shot by a rabid right-wingnut protesting bored security. It is old news within a week.

7. Obummer goes on his third golf vacation after ebola outbreaks simultaneously occur in Europe, Asia, Mexico, and six different states of the USA. The CDC reassures us again that sneezing cannot transmit a virus.

31 DeBlasio's problem is that he piled on the police when it was easy, when the media and leftists were giving them shit because a few thugs were killed around the country for acting unlawfully. There was never a lefitimate racial angle to any of of this, but because he is an ass-kissing leftist turd he went along with the crowd and pretended that their was. In doing so, DeBlasio took the side of the criminals against his own guys.

Now, when the going gets tough and his words have helped create an environment where the thugs feel empowered to fight back against the rule of law, DeBlasio is acting like a pussy, trying to placate a police union that no more has the city's welfare in mind than DeBlasio. As sagely noted a few years back by a famous philosopher-king, you should never placate and this right here is why.

What DeBlasio should have done of course is (1) not try to get in on the "oh wow, he's such a cool progressive" bandwagon and told Al Sharpton and his merry band of socialist jackboots that their racial BS was just that, and that they needed to get off of his bridges or he'd crack some skulls, and (2) told the union after the killings that their men better get back to work and defend the city or some mass firings would be coming down in short order.

Being an unqualified, incompetent progressive hack he handled it wrong from wire to wire and he we are. In many ways this is the story of Obama.

33 Reposted from previous thread because I think it's an interesting take on how to combat gun grabbing/gun databases/harassment of lawful gun owners.

"They have been trying to do that in NJ, link your hand gun permit to your drivers license under the theory that cops gotta be safe.

I posed the question to several state senators, how many cops have been killed in the state of NJ by people who legally possessed the gun they used to commit the crime?

I went further and asked, how many convicted murderers in the state of New Jersey, who used a gun as their weapon, legally possessed the weapon?

Shockingly I have not heard back from any of them."

Now that's the kind of story to start the day on. Must be satisfying to know that one family is going to have a great start to the new year thanks to your efforts.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised at what is happening in NYC. de Blasio ran on ending what he called overly aggressive and racist police tactics.

Couple with all of the anti-cop and racist rhetoric stirred up by the left, what did they think was going to happen?

I would say this dipshit is a one term mayor but the problem is there ain't not Giulianis on the horizon.

The only hope is former NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly throwing his hat in the ring.

Anyone else see on Drudge yesterday that there's a Red Measles outbreak
in NC? That's rubella - so now we've mysteriously seen the return of
measles, mumps and rubella in the last 6 months. Think, think, think
what has happened that might have triggered this bizarre outbreak and
may also be the reason this year's flu vaccine is not that effective
(because many different strains of the flu is breaking out)....Hmm, it's
a mystery!

Willful ignorance is the most dangerous kind, Lizzy. However, since I am sure most native Tarheel parents are considerate responsible people who had their kids innoculated, the multiple strains of communicable disease running around come from the illegals.

96 Reposted from previous thread because I think it's an interesting take on how to combat gun grabbing/gun databases/harassment of lawful gun owners.

114 The NYPD's Revolt Is A Direct Threat To Democracy

"Since the moment when police officers turned their backs in protest on New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, we've seen the type of escalating activity in the city which would be more recognizable as the preview to a messy Latin American coup d'etat..."

This is what happens when, for the last six years, your country has been run by a wannabe Latin American-style dictator, and your city was already a leftwing hellhole to begin with. The cops are understandably sick of being harangued as worse than Nazis -- harangues led by some of the most powerful people in the country, including the President -- and they know that there will be no consequences - political or otherwise -- for those in power accusing them of such things. So they're inflicting their own punishment.

I'm not saying it's right, but it's not unexpected or even abnormal. It's just further evidence of the increasing divide between the country's ruling class and everyone else. The cops used to think they were in that ruling class, too. They're coming to realize the ruling class only views them as foot soldiers and meat shields.

NYC voted for the jerkoff in overwhelming numbers, looks to me like the NYPD is simply helping the mayor fulfill his campaign promises.

Sorry I couldn't reply in the other thread but I live in a tiny suburb, and many of my workmates also live here .. so lights are on at Chez Aussie and suddenly we're invaded by young people who disregarded the *Get off My Lawn * sign out the front
Some of the kiddies I work with, who live in the next street dropped in for drinkies
And not one of them damaged anything or vomited on the kitchen floor - most impressive
However the Old Aussie Bloke I think had too much red wine as he is unconscious on the couch ,

188 But Obama is required to A) inform Congress, and B) get appropriations for transport of Gitmo detainees approved by Congress. If he doesn't do those things, he's breaking his own law.

If he gets the host country to send the plane ot some NGO pays for it (even if said NGO is funded by the State Department or some crap) then it is lawful - he can inform Congress.

Of course, lawfulness only matters if the law matters. Suppose he did not inform congress and he did use appropriated funds to transfer them. Congress is going to impeach him? Eric Holder is going to investigate?

This is America, and professional police are optional. Nothing stops civilians from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights to patrol the streets as a militia. Democracy would be served just fine if guys like Domenech had the same personal responsibility for civil order that Abraham Lincoln felt when he took up arms in the Blackhawk War. This author apparently believes that policemen are not citizens and therefore are slaves without the right to say anything negative about their master. He also apparently believes that they have no right to take precautions due to their lives being in danger because he excoriates them for being cautious. Apparently this author believes that cops must die if it makes the mayor look good.

This author is a c&ntrag and a closet aristoi/slaveholder.

I don't mouth off to cops and never have. But every time I've been pulled over in the last 10 years the cop has approached me with an unprovoked "You wanna try me? Go ahead, make my day" attitude. It makes me *want* to mouth off, which I assume is the intent, but I don't take the bait.

The question is why cops are going out of their way to provoke confrontations.
