Not me, that's for sure. I don't like having a uniform put on, my hands tied behind my back, and sent to bad neighborhoods for target practice. They don't either, which is why we're seeing this backlash.

53 The story goes that, before Bush threw out the first pitch in the 2001 World Series, Derek Jeter told him "don't bounce it, or they will boo you."

Part of me thinks booing requires a presumption of success that is thwarted.

Obama will never be booed because those of us who never expected it from him will never be disappointed, and those who did, well, they still manage to be deluding themselves now. What makes anyone think that's going to change anytime in the future.

The Ones Who Matter don't GAF, because they can afford (& probably already use) armed private security.

Driving out the cops who aren't dirtbags is good, because it lets them install their own little monsters, who will then run the police departments to the liking of people like Al "Kill the Jew" Sharpton.

One of her looney rants ended with, "The police need to wake up and realize de Blasio didn't create any of this. There is a real problem. They are disliked and feared and they need to work to change that! Changes need to be made! [and blah, blah, blah]"

Husband's final words to her, "The final pronouncement from the editorial you sent is rather vapid. A cultural shift to a new paradigm is better than "Serve and Protect"? Perhaps the writer needs to do some ride along time with a few patrol officers: maybe get a dose of reality. Warren Wilhelm, Jr., now Bill de Blasio, would do better to address the underlying problems that have kept so many blacks in a state of poverty, dependence, frustration and rage. Sadly, his career seems to have been geared, perhaps without intent, on leveraging those feelings to his own advancement of station. In that regard, he is as much like the Reverend Al Sharpton. They are both quite good at it. The real chance to change the culture requires too much patience for an election or a news cycle."

101 Hell, if we're doing callbacks to prior threads I'll throw this in here (in reference to Her Serene-ish Majesty's RTMFBYMFMF bill)

Don't forget to throw in a clause that any citizen (yes, citizen. If you're not a citizen you don't get a say on how we run our country) has standing to sue if the requirements aren't met. Constitutional lawsuits from the right seem like they peter out on the standing issue more often than not.

That's been a fear of mine also. I think a conservative's willingness to discard virtues for the sake of political performance art depends on how far on the spectrum one is to the let-it-burn side. Me? Probably only so far as to enroll in some college courses taught by a leftard for the sake of provocation and questioning "social justice" assumptions in the presence of precious snowflakes. The value of taunting should not be underestimated--a previous commenter suggested "Hands up, don't shoot" at President Stumblef#%k at the SOTU. I kinda like that.

Many of us experienced that when we woke up on November 7, 2012 to find that the citizens of the United States had, after experiencing four years of Barack Obama's governance, decided to reward him with another four years to further pursue his agenda.

Nothing since then has really surprised me except that the country has so far proved more resilient than I had expected. Nevertheless, the direction and the end point are pretty well laid out so I am just trying to take steps to increase the likelihood that my family can survive the consequences of the destruction of America.

Posted by: HH at December 30, 2014 12:18 PM (Ce4DF)"

There was not enough voter fraud to change the elections results. Instead blame:

1) Excellent organization on the part of the Democrats. If you read their organizers, they give a lot of credit to the software that they use to gather information about potential voters, track which issues interest particular voters and microtarget messages that voters are likely to respond to. They also concentrate their efforts on a) voters who are unlikely to vote unless nagged to the polls but who will vote Democrat if they go b) voters who will definitely go to the polls but who can be swayed to vote Democrat if the right messages are sent to them c) voters who will vote against Democrats if they go to the polls but who can be persuaded to stay home if they get the right negative messages about the Republican candidates. They don't waste their limited resources preaching to the choir.

2) Unbelievably shoddy work by the professional political consultants who nevertheless became rich running Mitt Romney's losing campaign.

3) One really shitty Republican candidate for President. I am not saying that he would have been a bad president but he sucked as a candidate. Only Romney of all potential Republican candidates could not run against Obamacare. Romney was as fierce as a tiger tearing into Republican candidates during two presidential primary seasons but he was gentle as a pussycat against Barack Obama. Also, Romney's managerial skills are cast into doubt by the abysmal "Orca" project that happened under his command.

Funny but that also seems to describe Obama. Not so funny, I read that until recently DeBlasio was considered a New Democrat rising star with future potential as a presidential candidate. If true, perhaps this horrible episode will serve to save America from a president DeBladio.

191 132 Sadly, his career seems to have been geared, perhaps without intent, on leveraging those feelings to his own advancement of station. In that regard, he is as much like the Reverend Al Sharpton.

This is being far too charitable to DeBlasio. Leveraging (i.e. stoking and encouraging) feelings of rage and frustration is what progressive "community organizing" is all about.

I absolutely agree. I am not sure what can be done. I would suggest for starters reducing copyright protection from present day forever to the same time as patent protection which is 20 years. I would also hold auctions for broadcast spectrum every year if I were running government. If I were rich, I would follow the Instapundit suggestion to buy magazines, particularly women's magazines and replace the left wing propaganda that intersperses the diet tips, celebrity news and recipes with Constitutional conservative messages.

But I do not run the government and I am not rich so I am just trying to do what I can so that my family can survive The Burning Times.

Thanks for the response. You are probably right, but Goddamn it there was only a 5 million vote difference between Obama and Romney!

Oh man, the next couple of years are going to be ugly.

195 I don't know.

My thinking is that it's bad form to publicly show disrespect for your boss. I mean, if someone turns his back on his boss, then who won't he turn his back on?

Besides, if they refuse to follow basic rules of common etiquette in a formal setting, then what rules will they follow? And isn't that the beef with cops -- that they don't follow the rules?

196 "My thinking is that it's bad form to publicly show disrespect for your boss."

But what if your boss shows up at a place that he is not wanted? Do you just pretend and be nice, or do you let him know how you feel? Plus this is not a one on one situation.

197 HH --

Good point. And I get why the police are miffed. Their boss is undermining their ability to do their jobs, which is hard enough on the easiest of days. But considering the scrutiny that police is under right now, it seems unwise to maybe tell the "protesters" that they may be right.

It strikes me as counterproductive and beyond ironic to see these authority figures showing blatant disdain for their authority figure.

198 As to the SOTU, it is by "invitation only" by Congress and was most often provided by the POTUS in writing. Don't invite Barky this year or ask for it in writing. Cite that he has made it a spectacle with personal attacks on the SCOTUS and lack of respect for the tri-cameral system. When he earns that respect back, he can speak at the SOTU again.

Yeahhh. Riiight.

200 Late to this thread but the Police did not heckle and boo the Mayor. Their invited guests, the friends and family members did. That's a significant difference that only the New York Post reported.
