Obama: Racial Tensions Are Now Coming Out in a "In a Way that is Probably Healthy "

We talk about it every Riot Season. Meanwhile, one of the Ferguson protesters raising issues in a way that's probably healthy turns out to be an arsonist.
With racial issues and policing headlining the political conversation in America in the midst of nationwide protests and the murder of two police officers in New York, President Barack Obama said he believes the issue of race relations is surfacing "in a way that probably is healthy." ... "I actually think that [the U.S. is] probably in its day-to-day interactions less racially divided," Obama said in an interview with NPR released Monday and recorded before his family vacation in Hawaii. "The issue of police and communities of color being mistrustful of each other is hardly new; that dates back a long time. It's just something that hasn't been talked about."

Joshua Williams has been everywhere: protesting in Ferguson, Mo., Washington, D.C., and Cleveland, Ohio. Now, he is in St. Louis, where police have arrested him for arson. ... Williams has been portrayed in the media as an innocent victim fighting back against authority; he has been held up as the quintessential Ferguson protestor, decrying police brutality as he is time and again brutalized by police. When Williams interrupted a Ferguson City Council meeting in September and the meeting descended into chaos, for example, the New York Times published a photo of his disruptive antics with a caption that said that he had only "posed a question to the City Council." ... On the night after Christmas, St. Louis County Police arrested Williams on suspicion of arson in a separate incident. Williams was reportedly involved in the looting and burning of a QuikTrip convenience store on Christmas Eve in Berkeley, Mo., a St. Louis suburb approximately two miles away from Ferguson. The police did not immediately respond to NRO’s request for comment.

Fifty years. I was born in 1960 and that was the beginning (contemporarily speaking) of black/white racial strife. Got better in each decade since, except this one, that started in 2009.
I've told them that it will be something their generation will have to deal with, and with luck, get back to where things were before Obama screwed the pooch.
And what sucks about all of this is the effect it will have on yet another generation of young black men, who will not enter the work force, get married, take vacations and otherwise enjoy this magnificant experiment in wealth creation.

Heh. reminds me of another story. No idea how true it is but during the LA riots the LAPD apparently had a hard time and needed help so there was a CO of Marines (reservists? had to have been... posse comit commi... that word, whatever).
So LAPD is on this apt complex and the watch commander tells the Marines: "Cover that building."

We can't control the fact that the left gives this guy credence. But we can do something about conservatives who do. Before the MSNBC gig, Sharpton appeared on Fox numerous times (especially Hannity and O'Reilly).
Now, conservatives should treat this guy as what he is - poison. He's engaged in rhetoric that has gotten people killed and has continued to do so. Don't engage in public discourse with him, do not refer to him as a "civil rights activist, etc."

Who do cops work for? We try to be impartial. We uphold the constitution and the laws... so there is not a real sense that the police work for de Blasio or the People or the City Council or Bratton... the sense is that we enforce those laws that the people put in place. And when the politicians allow people to break those laws in the name of free speech, the cops feel betrayed. I get the reason behind civil disobedience, etc, but civil disobedience is normally undertaken at the risk of arrest. I think even the cops respect that... you want to make your point, you get carried to the paddy wagon. Point taken, with all due respect. But when that risk is taken away by a political decision not to arrest, the cops see a slippery slope to anarchy. (In New York, though, with few exceptions, its a credit to both the citizens and the police that we did not see another Ferguson. Let's hope it stays that way.)

But he lives in a blue state paradise where you need all sorts of permits and shit to buy rentals. idiot brothers in law. He decided he wanted to be a landlord this year.
But he lives in a blue state paradise where you need all sorts of
permits and shit to buy rentals. And then he discovered how it's nearly
impossible to evict a tenant thanks to progressive landlord/tenant laws.
He actually said "I sort of understand where the tea party is coming
from with all this bullshit regulation". I was dumbstruck and just
said, well good, welcome to the club.

I innocently got into a conversation with the landlord of a neighboring house that was being put up for rent. She (a recent immigrant from Eastern Europe) owned an apartment building some distance away (geographically, but light years away culturally), and off her own bat went off on a ten minute rant about the regulations, the legal obstacles to dealing with a-hole tenants, Section 8 housing generally, and Obama look-alikes in particular.

Reminds me of a bit in a play that I saw once - "Flora the Red Menace". The titular Flora is working for a design firm in the US during the '30s, and is taken in by the positive front that the Communists put up. And then late in the play she realizes that an older gentleman living in her apartment complex had joined the Party back when he lived in Europe, seen past the disguise, and utterly rejected it before immigrating to the US.

But it does point out something I've never understood. I don't talk sports or politics - not out of politeness, but because differing opinions just do not impact me much.
But politics impacts everything. I just do not get why I should passively accept someone actively seeking portions of my money, and curtailments of my liberty, via politics.
To hell with bad manners. I consider those who engage in such pursuits bad family.
