Late Night Bedspins [dri]

Greetings fellow hobo hunters. Welcome to the last Late Night Bedspins edition of 2014. As you may know, Late Night Bedspins is the occasional showcase of good music you may have overlooked or missed.

Tonight's band is called "Fitz and the Tantrums". I was going to feature them on a post a few years ago but figured they would become popular and would need no introduction to AoS Nation. Recently their music became featured in an advertising campaign for New Amsterdam Vodka. Please turn up the volume and enjoy.

MoneyGrabber (Live @ Lollapalooza 2014)

The Walker

Out Of My League (Live @ Lollapalooza 2014)

Note: Some have commented that the lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick sounds a lot like Daryl Hall of Hall & Oats fame. Below is a jam session featuring both Fitzpatrick and Daryl Hall. The voice similarities are truly amazing!

2 I fell asleep early & just woke up. I didn't look at ONT tonight because I was watching last episode of Band of Brothers on demand. I watched 6 episodes of that today & it's a rare that I watch television w/o interruption, as in looking in here or other sites.

3 Clean up on Aisle 3, please.

4 Good Night. I'm going back to sleep, trying to at least.

Posted by: Carol at December 28, 2014 04:27 AM (sj3Ax)

5 "Late Night Bedspins". That's why I went to bed before the ONT. Now I'm awake again, having mostly slept it off.

6 Their drummer lives here.

Nice guy.

7 Bedspins...check.

Yeah, Michael Fitzpatrick does sound like Darryl Hall.

I've been grooving on little baby Groot dancing...you know, from 'Guardians of the Galaxy'?
He's sooo cute.

Good morning all. Hate to be the one to break it but just saw on Puff Ho that an Air-Asia jet with 160 on board has gone missing. It took off from Indonesia bound for Singapore.

Breitbart and Drudge are linking it as well. Here we go again.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at December 28, 2014 05:28 AM (CMkNk)

10 Yeah, I saw that on Drudge when I woke up. Apparently there were storms in the area and the pilot requested a deviation from his normal course. That was the last communication heard from the plane.

Posted by: rickl at December 28, 2014 05:30 AM (sdi6R)

11 Using the Epic browser, I'm getting that thing where the ONT doesn't fully load, and cuts off at about 140 comments. That happens occasionally on some threads around here. It loads fine in Safari.

Posted by: rickl at December 28, 2014 05:38 AM (sdi6R)

12 There is a link on the side-bar to a BBC article on the missing AirAsia flight with 162 aboard. Crew had requested a deviation due to storms to climb to flight level thirty eight. And that was last communication.

Wifey flies out this morning from JFK to ORD. I will not be giving her the news, though doubtless CNN will be on the tube at the terminal (about the only place significant numbers of people watch it, I've heard tell).

23 Ah yes, another tiny print thread.
As much as I'd like to think it's just ignorance or laziness on the part of ace and most of the cobs, it is a good way to keep me outta here.

24 Yeah flying that's it. That's what I meant.

Another site for PK-AXC A320-219 of AirAsia, a bit more professional than the likes of CNN -

I think I got the joke. I saw the report on Drudge when I woke up around 4:45 and rushed over to the ONT to tell everybody about it, then saw that they were already talking about it.

I think the plane disappeared yesterday evening our time.

Posted by: rickl at December 28, 2014 06:15 AM (sdi6R)

29 What part of "I do not think those words mean what you think they mean" is so hard to understand?

"Breaking news" six hours after everyone and their bitey monkey told us about it is actually not "news".

30 28 Posted by: rickl at December 28, 2014 06:15 AM (sdi6R)

I was wiping the crust out of my eyes as wifey gets ready to go and I thought this was just breaking (I didn't see it in the sidebar, nor did I read the ONT).

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at December 28, 2014 06:17 AM (CMkNk)

31 Its all okay JJ Sefton. This is Ace of Spades where reading the content is very optional.

And there are some parts of the ONT I really want to forget.

Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at December 28, 2014 06:18 AM (spNrX)

32 Fitz and the Tantrums sound good, never heard of them though. I guess they will be another addition to my youtube list, my thanks.

Yep, looking at the news I saw that flash on Fox and switched over to CNN, who were of course wall to wall coverage, and then I went to sleep.

Those planes fly over a lot of water, considering the Earth is 75% covered by water there's a lot of ground to cover. Theoretically if the pilot had stayed on course and only tried to get above the storm they might find some debris floating if they do a time/speed/distance search, but with the storm going it will dissipate any signs quickly.

I predict CNN will be doing stories for at least two weeks, if not longer on another mysteriously disappearing aircraft. I think it has something to do with that airline company myself.

God rest those souls.

Just like MH370, a plane takes off for a long flight over water and doesn't show up...........it's in the water. The most likely outcome. Don't know how, why, exactly when. May never.
