Posted by: Ricardo Kill at December 28, 2014 07:08 AM (vcADg) That is an exercise in futility. When one State moves its primary up they all follow suit. I suspect the only way we'll ever see Moron-friendly candidates for major offices is to have a third party rise up and establish a haven for conservatives.
Yeah, yeah, I know Teh Great Pundits have already decreed that such a thing would be futile, that we must all bend over and take whatever barely-disguised liberal the GOPe wants to foist on us. "What was the old one and what is the new one? "
Old one was a ten year old GE Profile. We did all the kitchen appliances in Profile when we bought the house. In the ten years since, the Over Range Microwave has died three times, and still overheats if you use it more then ten minutes. The Dishwasher rattles, and vibrates. And the Fridge, whose crisper drawers have never stayed on the rails since the original purchase just gave up the ghost. Didin't even call a repair shop. Just said "Time for you to go". New unit is a rather simple Samsung, without any water/ice dispenser systems. Posted by: Village Idiot's Apprentice at December 28, 2014 07:32 AM (0Nyv4) 68

Posted by: Ricardo Kill at December 28, 2014 07:16 IIRC, Nat'l party rules no states can have primary before March 6. Back in 2011 Missouri state law was for primary to be held in Feb. The state senate couldn't pass a bill to change the law so MO repub's went with caucus system that wasn't done until June or July. If MO had stayed with Feb. primary they would have lost half their delegates. Seems fcuk'd up to me. Posted by: olddog in mo at December 28, 2014 07:33 AM (6hrmc) 69

CR just doesn't give a crap about long term anything, as near as I can tell. I had a subscription to their site for a long time, but it was the same thing again and again: they would rate something high and the comments would be full of reports of very low reliability. >>New unit is a rather simple Samsung, without any water/ice dispenser systems. Did you read the reviews at Lowe's site? There was one brand, and it may have been Samsung, that had people complaining about how hard it was to get it repaired. Can't remember fer shurr, but I slowly backed away from it. I wanted a water dispenser without the ice, since that takes up so much room. So many new brands are run off a board. Repairmen buy boards, try replacing a board, doesn't fix the problem. They've taken the board out of the package and, then, they can't return the board. $100-200 for the board. Posted by: Ricardo Kill at December 28, 2014 08:02 AM (vcADg) 94

The price of the Bosch replacement board was more than it cost me for a brand new Whirlpool dishwasher which was the second cheapest dishwasher at Lowes. The new Whirlpool dishwasher is almost as quiet as the Bosch, cleans the dishes just as well, has more convenient controls and less irksome dish racks and cost about a third of what the Bosch did. My handwriting was illegible in high school. And tiny. I learned how to print fast in drafting which is all I do except for signing checks or other stuff. My wife made me learn how to type. The two finger pecking on a Selectric drove her crazy. My handwriting was illegible until fairly recently, when my Russian professor made me practice a lot of Cyrillic cursive. Now my handwriting is good, but I make the most amazing typos (handwritingographic errors?) if my attention wanders. In school, I took to printing when I got involved with computing, so I still mostly print.
