1 Done with the Xmas shopping! Last week. HA!

10 I have fully stocked the liquor cabinet and the humidor, bought enough chocolate for my lil sugar booger to give her acne overnight, and wrapped all the gifts. Just gotta sit back and let the Grumpy Grandma cook. Then clean up after her.

11 I might stop at Ingles and buy some gourmet cookies for Christmas Day. And a bottle of wine.
You're never really ready for Christmas until it is Christmas.

12 I was mostly done with the shopping until I had a quilt buy for the daughter's BF; he keeps hanging 'round so I figured I'd buy him a Gerber FAST knife. I wasn't willing to pay the fast delivery though, so it probably won't make under the tree before Christmas; maybe I'll keep it for myself.

You make them with small brown beans, vinegar, molasses and brown sugar. They take a couple days between the soaking and the simmering.

CNN reporter Sara Ganim is reporting from the memorial for the slain officers, reporting on how people had been coming to pay their respects. As she is talking, you hear shouting in the back ground. Finally she says, 'in the interests of full disclosure', that she has to tell you some protesters just arrived yelling at the police who are just standing there silently in mourning.

Always go stainless or nickle ounless there is a need for tactical. Then go flat black cerakote. Reason?

Finger prints causing rust. Blued guns are highly susceptible to surface rust.
Used to have in-laws in Louisiana. Due to abnormally high humidity, after a weekend of hunting, would have to strip guns down, remove from stocks, ect., and oil everything. Major PITA.
Swithed over to everything being stainless, nuckle, or cerakote and have no problems.

Never had an issue with my Glock 17. Never. One of the three major rules of gun safety...keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot. Ms. Glock and I have always gotten along fine in that regard.

That said, the trigger pull itself feels a little like a windex bottle to me, but whatever.

And I actually enjoy the HK USP. It has better ergonomics for me than the Glock, so I shoot it better. Damned fine piece of machinery.

185 Pope Francis is urging Mideast Christians to remain in the land of Christs birth, despite the previously unimaginable attacks against them by Muslim extremists.

In a Christmas greeting released Tuesday, Francis said the mere presence of the tiny Christian community in the Middle East is more important than any service the church can provide there. He said he hopes to visit in person, but that for now he wants to write to provide words of comfort and solidarity

"Provide words of comfort and solitarity"??? What the fuck Popie. How about supporting Israel 100% since they are the ONLY ones protecting Christians in the Middle East

Hello from Way Down Here and it's Christmas Eve...

Shopping later today with my son who loves shopping at the very last minute - we will do all his shopping in an hour, and head off to the city club I belong to and have lunch and a drink or three

Then home to bake some Christmas biscuits (cookies I think you call them), make my usual Christmas lunch contribution - my special trifle

The turkey has been outsourced to the local chook shop and will be picked up by the Old Aussie bloke later today

Then off to Midnight Mass...

I figure I'd better enjoy it now, because the hordes of New Year's Resolutionists are right around the corner.

Fun fact: the single busiest day of the year for new memberships at gyms nationwide is the Monday after the Super Bowl.

Bet a lot of folks make that resolution on New Years but figure they'd better wait till after their Super Bowl festivities.

Eh, the siblings all decided that we were just going to draw names and get one big present instead of trying to hunt down several smaller presents, so that made things a bit easier.

Meanwhile dad had only one thing on his list (luckily it was big enough said siblings pooled for it.)
Mom's always a pain to shop for having to do the "Christmas" and "birthday" thing. (And she gets really pissed if you wrap them both in Christmas paper. Which is odd, because my birthday is in march, and sometimes stuff is wrapped in left over Christmas paper.)

Wife was told at the appointment yesterday they could do some procedure which "sometimes starts labor" I said "no, I'm not doing another family member born on either Christmas or Christmas eve."
