Gunman On Loose In Suburbs Outside Philadelphia; Six Dead
The shooter is a white male. He looks like a real champ. I point this out only to note that no one in the press is currently saying things like, "The most important thing to reduce the blowback against white males," nor are any white males saying "I'm chiefly worried about how this will effect me."Authorities have identified the man sought in a Montgomery County killing spree that left six people dead and one person wounded. Bradley William Stone, 35, of Pennsburg, Pa., remains at large. All of the victims had a 'familial' relationship with Stone, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said. The Montgomery County DA says Stone is described as 5'10" tall and weighs 195 pounds. He has a red or auburn beard and mustache with closely cropped hair. Stone is known to use a cane or walker to assist him, the DA said, and he may be wearing military fatigues, in either sand or green color. The DA says: "Stone should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about Stone's whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not approach him." "Police are conducting an extensive search in and around Pennsburg, at both known and outdoor locations where Stone may be located."

Has anyone else noticed a rather fundamental difference between islamic nutcases, and "normal" nutcases? Americans, Canadians, Britons, Germans, etc., when they go nuts and start killing people, usually, but not always, kill family members, or co-workers, or fellow students. Extreme rare and will probably be overturned. I personally know of a case where wifey got custody and she was a known hard drug user and it was brought up in court. Down here it is a 99% probability that in a custody battle wife will get the kids.

Then I saw an article detailing such a case in a town in western PA, and asked the friend if that was it. Turns out, there have been at least two cases of this in PA. More men have outside long hour jobs that make scheduling for children's problems difficult.
This has led to a tendency to also award the family dwelling to the mother and child support payments.
This all leads the men to feel put upon as they no longer have the family unit to aid their physical and mental well being and perhaps their entire feeling of worth. Recently more and more women are filing for divorce so the male feels even more put upon because he feels that this was all brought on by the female. Of course this probably isn't true.
But because men and women sometimes (most of the time?) talk past each other or speak words that carry different meanings it is difficult to know who's at fault (if anyone) and who's the innocent (if anyone).
Either or both sides have unredressed grievances through out this process that can (and do) lead to bad choices of action and irrational thought processes that escalate the bad feelings on all sides.
I blame society, Television and Movies and Radical Feminism (communist inspired) for creating a climate where by reasonable resolutions seem unlikely and the system is unable to do so humanely because it's not a humane system.
Trust (derived from similar attitudes), religion and amount of time having known someone are the best indicators for the longevity of a marriage.
They can still blow up due to one party undergoing a drastic mental/emotional experience that modifies all previously known (by the spouse especially) references.
Trust degrades till they are strangers. Which is where religion can come into play and where longevity of experience with a person may help the acceptance of the other.
Frankly anyone who gets married these days is gambling with their and their future family's lives in one way or another.

I never understand in these divorce situations where people push each other to the edge. Not saying he wasn't wacko and there wasn't a good reason for divorce, but I have a guess some sort of easier give and take would have been reasonable.

Divorce is a very painful and destructive process.
If a couple "falls out of love" but has young kids, imo they need to try 200% to stay together nonviolently for the kids sake. I know that's an unpopular opinion these days, but when there are kids, I think it's better for a couple to fake it til they make it rather then split up.

There isn't a one size fits all solution for divorce. I let her keep the house and money. I stayed nearby. We had the kids one night at her house, one night at mine. I even moved from my favorite place to unloved CT because she got a good job here.

We have some young talent down here, like Tobias Harris who scored the game-winning bucket against Atlanta on Saturday. He's good, so that means he'll be traded away to another team soon.
I'm disappointed with the Magic. They're just another farm team, despite there already being a D-League. They could've gotten Phil Jackson down here and didn't do it. They let Shaq get away and didn't even get another center in the deal. I only watch them now if there's nothing else on, which isn't often. Episodes of Too Cute are more engaging: at least those have a happy ending.
I attended the very first Magic game they played here in town and was a big fan for a while. When I realized they were just going to develop players for championship teams instead of doing everything they can to win a championship themselves, I gave up.

Freedom is not the most important goal of human existence. Doing the right thing is. Freedom for its own sake is self-destroying. Freedom for the purpose of doing the right thing, is what a sustainable and good society is structured around.

Yeah I'm a Christian, albeit not a super observant one I'm just now getting around to reading the Bible cover to cover.
By definition, those two people would not be good. They are demonstrated liars. "Till death do us part" before a crowd of witnesses, including each other's families - but "till we felt otherwise" in action.

You called them good to try to upsell divorce as a Good Thing. Try some basic substitution:
"If two good people murdered an innocent stranger, well, so be it." Clearly murder is okay as long as "good" people do it, no?
"What God has joined together, let no one separate."
Divorce is not good, and do not try to fool anyone else otherwise. You should question your thinking on why you have more of a problem with arranged marriages than divorce.

I never said divorce was a good - it's an unfortunate thing - but it can lead to better outcomes for people.
BTW - equating murder with divorce is so morally ridiculous I don't even know how to respond.
I have a problems with divorce and arranged marriage because one leaves no freedom for the people to go out and live life to find their own mate. The other isn't great either but it's not forced upon you.
Last time I checked the only perfect person was nailed to the cross. Perfection is unattainable on earth. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to be the best we can be I'm just saying it's unreal.

You didn't call it good. But you felt it important for divorce to be an option for "good people". As opposed to all of the other people? Are "bad" people ruining divorce for the "good" people?
Divorce is not "unfortunate". No married couple minding their own business suddenly finds themselves divorced due to bad luck. Divorce occurs because at least one of the parties chooses to dissolve the marriage that they originally created.
The point of bringing up murder is that the people being "good" is irrelevant to judging the action. The action is what it is, the actor's identity is irrelevant.

Your personal dislike for arranged marriage does not make it "not good". Arranged marriages are able to work, and have traditionally worked.
And the point was not that we need to make arranged marriage more common - the point is that "some marriages just can't work" is a lie. When even an arranged marriage can work - the only reason the voluntary marriage does not work is because of lack of will.
Perfection is unattainable on earth. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to be the best we can be I'm just saying it's unreal.
You don't think God knows we're not perfect? But he tells us to be perfect anyways. We can ponder why, but in the meantime, obedience is to do what we're told.
Step 1 is to know what perfect is - which is what God's standards are. "God hates divorce".

I believe God has at least much common sense as we do. Calling divorce evil is asinine IMO. Evil is murder - not divorce.

Look at all the men destroyed by divorce and alimony/child support payments, and tell me it is not evil.
Look at all the women who dissolved their marriages thinking there was something better out there - but wind up used, unmarried, and alone - and tell me divorce is not evil.
Look at all the children scarred by divorce - themselves more likely to divorce - emotionally broken by the rejection of the relationship that produced themselves - and tell me that divorce is not evil.
Do you think God hates divorce because it's mostly harmless, but sometimes a good thing? Or because it is destructive and harms all touched by it?
