Early Morning Thread, 12/14/14 - HEY! OH! [bleeeep] edition. [krakatoa]

Welcome to your Sunday morning thread.

The tree is up, a few days later than planned, and decorations are fully in progress.

Baby krak/t is taking everything in stride, but her mother and I are very excited for her first Christmas. I understand this is the "paper" Christmas for children, and things get much more expensive from here on out, so I'm going to try to soak it all in.

Michael Keaton asked if he feels bad about Ben Affleck's pending destruction of the Batman franchise:

"No"

Why?

"Because..."
michael-keaton-im-batman.jpg
"I am batman!"

I've been grooving on Post Modern Jukebox lately. They've put out some Christmas songs, and they are all pretty good. My favorite may be their Blue Christmas cover, but it may have something to do with me just adoring Katie Davis' voice.

Call me crazy, but she reminds me just a bit of Patsy Cline, and there is zero wrong with that.

Open Thread namesake below the fold.

Great Army/Navy game yesterday. Sat ten seats below the top of the stadium. Players looked like ants, but the fly-overs were real close.
Today, off to Paintball practice all day for Little VIA, and another day of shopping at Christiana Mall for Mrs VIA and I. Cabelas is right there, so maybe we can spend some time in there.

Maybe even when, if you're outside filming it and it passes directly over you, YOU disappear.

It's time for a third party. Or, a conservative GOP built on the bones of the old one.

Whichever is more feasible/viable. In any case, the "split the vote" argument is moot since it is painfully obvious that there is no real difference between the GOP and Dems.

Not after the last few days and an election merely weeks earlier where they all flat out lied to us. And we knew it going into the voting booth.

Apparently, the Senate gave Ted Cruz a pretty solid boot in the butt as well. I can't make out what happened, as I've found only one story, and that was wildly pro-Democrat.

It appears that Cruz made Senators go on record as supporting an action (Choom Boy's open door for illegals plan) that is unconstitutional. A majority of the Senate admitted that they are, indeed, lawbreakers.

This was supposedly a victory for Hairy Reid and Bitch McConnell, but it was also, as so many Congressional actions are, a defeat for the Citizens of the United States.

Wish I had details. Either Cruz is now the Stupidest Man in the Country or the Senate have opened themselves up to arrest, trial and imprisonment.

37 Ugh.

Oldest was up at 3:30 because phlegm.

Cold or allergies?

Suspect allergies because the girl was blowing her nose more than usual last night, I'm stuffy, neither the heat or a/c is on, so nothing is getting filtered. Oh, and the sickly one hadn't been out of the house for a few days until yesterday morning.

So either he picked up cold germs at 9am and was sick in less than 24 hours, or it's allergies.

Pollen dot com (since weather dot com has lost its allergy reports) says pollen is very low here but extremely high just over the border. Uh huh.

I really need this to be allergies. Hubby who is having a tough time getting over the latest sinus infection will be home on Saturday...

Hope you all are having a less snively morning!

41 To my vast unpaid research staff: Many of you are vintage models, some on blood thinners. I'm not on any medications but am old enough to get bruised or scratched very easily. Ridiculously easy, the edge of a cardboard box will do it. The skin thins with age in us all. The question: I am told there is a medication or vitamin that helps alleviate that. Not an ointment but a tablet they give to people on blood thinners to help.

Anyone know anything about that? Thanks very much.

I am taking Plavix and aspirin to thin my blood. It would seem to me that if you are taking blood thinners it would defeat the purpose to take something that would stop the thinning.

Cruz is one of the few ones left that I trust, so I'm thinking maybe 'crazy like a fox'? However, who is left to arrest, put on trial and imprison lawbreakers - lawbreakers that are doing Obama's bidding?

Hi and I'm not aware of any tablet which can prevent skin aging and the resulting susceptibility for skin bruises, scratches and skin being pulled off by sometimes a small collision with something, like a box!

I'll ask the GPs at work later on today if they know anything about that tablet

Whatever I find out, I'll post that info tonight - check the morning thread, or the news dump

You want: a return to Constitutional Government;

71 From Ted Cruz's speech about why he is forcing senators on record on the immigration fiatwith a "point-of-order" procedural objection to funding for the amnesty:

"I take them at their word. But I would note that a whole
lot of citizens across this country feel a little bit like Charlie Brown
with Lucy and the football, when fight after fight, leadership in
Congress says we'll fight next time. Not this time . . . the wise thing
to do is to fight in a month, fight in two months, fight in three
months. Not now.
There comes a point where Charlie Brown has kicked the football and
fallen on his rear end one two many times. So, when our leaders in both
chambers say as a commitment we will fight and we will stop President
Obama's illegal amnesty, I take them at their word. But, I am confident
the American people will hold them to their word."

Not stupid.

78 NC gave up blue laws and I think GA did, surprised SC still let's counties decide.

Nothing better than an empty mall with lots of bored sales staff to help you.

Another great time? Christmas Eve. The guys at my office use to drink lunch at the mall, go around to jewelry stores and shop. Start haggling with them. Leave, go to dinner, drink some more and show up at closing. It is amazing how cheap jewelry gets on Christmas Eve if it is still in the store. I mean amazing.

I think I'll go next Sunday. Too lazy today.

He did make them go on record and only 22 supported the constitution. Amazingly Graham said Cruz "has to figure out who he is and what he wants to be". Here is a Twitchy link with the 22 listed. There is also an article at Roll Call.

That right there should net each of them minimum 10 years in prison.

96 Mr Dave, I'd have never guessed you were a Senior-American. You rthinking seems so young. I had you pegged as one of Our Young Punks here.

I am SO wrong to pass on Medical Rumour, but, here's where we're at. My dad is 92, so takes the usual death-defiers. He survived a triple-A (drove himself to the hospital!) and 12/16/44 in sunny Elsenborn, so something's working, so far.

He complained rather bitterly to his sharp young cardiologist about just what you're suffering from, easy bruising and fragile skin "tone." That doctor said that Plavix-like drugs do a lot of good in the first year or two, and after that, their continued use is argued, and may be marginal. So he "took him off" one of his ensemble of thinners. The result has not been dramatic, but there has been some improvement -- he doesn't get a two-week running bruise every time he bumps his arm on the chair, for instance.

He goes for a follow-up next week; if my memory serves, I'll give you an account. But he hasn't dropped dead from it yet. By all means, don't start skipping a pill just on spec, but you might want to bring that up with a medical professional you trust -- if you can find one of those.

103 Wow.

Read about the Cruz vote.

Basically, it was a vote condemning Obamas amnesty as unconstitutional-

So, the MSM and Dims and GOPe, is touting this as a Cruz loss and "hijinks", because-

a majority of Republicans voted against calling Obama's amnesty unconstitutional.

Just let that soak in.

Cruz is a hero in my book.

He just clarified the situation for everyone.

The majority of Republicans are onboard for amnesty- no matter what they say.

Harry Reid was smiling like a hyena after the vote.

Well, why not, it's all one big Democrat majority no matter who "wins".

131 Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword....wait there's even more Now what if i told you there was a simple Wordpress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That's right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin
