Oil may drop to $50 per barrel, Bank of America horrified at the prospect of OPEC falling apart and the free market getting to set the price of oil. For some reason, I haven't been able to stop smiling since I read this.

7 Good Morning Morons. Today is Wednesday, December 10, 2014. On this day in 1541 Thomas Culpeper and Francis Dereham were executed for having affairs with Catherine Howard, Queen of England and wife of Henry VIII. She was later executed after a bill of attainder was passed making it treason for her not reveal previous sexual affairs.

10 We knew Boner would sell us out:

House leaders unveiled a $1.1 trillion spending bill Tuesday night that would avert a partial government shutdown while delaying a fight over President Obama's immigration actions until early 2015.

Check's in the mail etc etc. Recall Obama's first year in office when the Dems controlled everything and they passed a $1.1T budget? We raised hell. Not much has changed.

22 McVain used the word "hypocrisy" the other day to describe a position with which he disagrees. 24 The Department of Health and Human Services dished out over $182 million to one organization in order to house unaccompanied illegal alien children over the span of four months, according to documents released on December 3. The taxpayer funds ended up covering the likes of free laptops, big screen TVs, and pregnancy tests. In 2014 alone, the group was awarded well over $280 million in federal grant money and surpasses $460 million when factoring in 2013. This is just one group in a sprawling network of those sheltering illegal alien children.

I have one question; where did they get the money to pay for this? Congress has not authorized it. Answer is Obama probably diverted from other programs which is illegal. But not to worry, the House has passed another $1.1T funding bill which Obama will spend on anything he wants and they will do nothing.

27 More on that $1.1T spending bill.

The omnibus spending bill from House Speaker John Boehner and Appropriations Committee chairman Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) contains a blatant handout to the travel, specifically casino industry, something that benefits outgoing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

So why is the Republican Party providing corrupt pork for Hairy The Pederast? This kind of shit, which is firmly entrenched in both Parties, is one of the many reasons why we need an Art V convention.

I think it's time for a 3rd Party, or at least let the actual Conservative Party separate itself from the GOP.

The big question is all the tiny details like leadership, infrastructure and most of all financing, as well as grooming of candidates.

Mission 1 will be to destroy the GOP as soon as possible and render it marginal at best. Not easy with all the Langones, Roves, and Chamber of Commerce bastards out there with heavy lucre.

Exactly. The idea that we can't even take the time to consider what we're spending 1 trillion dollars on is so suspect that anyone endorsing it deserves to be removed from office. It's downright Soviet and these guys are nothing but apparatchiks for Uniparty Big Government. How far do they get to lower the bar before "better than Hillary" is no longer a justification for their own corruption? To some around here, that excuse seems bottomless.

They've gone way too far with this budget by crisis process - all the way down to Pelosi level BS. This isn't democracy and they aren't representing anyone but themselves and their cronies.

Don't forget to give "Republicans" -- specifically Boner, Bitch McConnell and their co-conspirators in Congress -- props for their hard work in caving in completely to the Choom Gang.

They have proven that no one in modern-day D.C. deserves access to power. Specifically, spending power, or that unique ability given to Congress to willfully ignore the law.

Note past tense. Modern Hebrew was a revival of a dead language.

Ancient Hebrew actually changed a lot over the centuries - some of the changes are preserved in names (Melchizadek instead of Melech-zadeq or something like that). The alphabet we use today is actually Aramaic - the original Hebrew alphabet was a bit different and closely resembled the Phoenician IIRC.

A barrel? Maybe you meant a gallon.

Anyway, was wondering if the gas prices going down was a reflection of ISIS underselling oil. If so, I guess we're enjoying the results of mass-slaughter and beheadings, etc.

Before there was an internet the way you got jobs was by sending resumes in response to newspaper ads. I was always responding to things that were for MBAs who spoke languages, and a few times it turned out to be the CIA.

In hindsight it might have been a fun move, but in 1989 they were paying MBAs $28K a year and I had a wife who'd helped me through grad school in order that I could make money.

Posted by: Tyrone Shoelaces at December 10, 2014 09:14 AM (1JJ9R)

277 Oil is a funny thing. The higher the price, the more you have of it. Literally. They calculate "proven reserves" based on the price. So, for example, if we knew where 1T barrels were, but it cost a $1000 a barrel to get it, it would not count as a proven reserve.

So, all that shale oil that is out there, where we have the largest proven reserves, etc., well, it only exists so long as the price of oil is high. If oil is $30 a barrel, there is practically no shale oil. By that definition.

We as a country get all messed up about oil. We complain about getting cheap oil from the Middle East. I say we should pump all the cheap oil out of the ground in Saudi Arabia, and then when they need oil, we will have plenty to sell to them at higher prices.

To me, "torture" is just a wanton act of cruelty for no reason or purpose except to satisfy some sort of sadistic urge.

What the CIA did in no way, shape or form even remotely resembles that.

291 I don't understand McCain's position - and he has been consistent on this. If you get tortured, you are probably going to be anti-torture. I get that. But he endured real torture - like we break your arms and when it resets we break it again kind of torture. Like you have to pick the bugs out of your bread kind of torture. Like we put you in a little box and keep you there for months kind of torture.

Not this little oh we turned the AC down on the poor little darlings bullshit.

296 I was stunned last night to see that CBS news, after spending 15 minutes running old interviews on the torture report, actually mentioned Gruber. I think it's the first time.

McCain is opposed to torture, because he was tortured by the North Vietnamese. That was something that the Dems didn't care about then or now. They thought our POWs had it coming to them.

Posted by: Notsothoreau at December 10, 2014 09:24 AM (Lqy/e)

297 @233 That Jack Daniel's story is really misleading. I was on that distillery tour just two weeks ago, with a master taster, and went into the plaque room, and heard the same about "US military." But the buyers are almost all the members of units, or classes, who go together and contribute the price. Single-barrel is a much desired commodity, so base exchanges that get a barrel, just like liquor stores or distributors, turn a tidy profit on the bottles from it. I have participated.

So, not "your tax dollars at work." They're not firing toward the enemy, here.
Lincoln, Grant, and a barrel to all his generals...

Posted by: Tyrone Shoelaces at December 10, 2014 09:30 AM (1JJ9R)

300 McCain is a contrarian brat, which served him really well when he was a POW, but the media convincing low infos that he was the only hope for the Rs after the 'distaste the country has with Dubya after 8 years' was just as big a malfeasance as their whitewash of Barry's lackluster and gap filled background.
