But I do think the real "Reverend Darkness" is numb. I was delighted he got told off by the family of the guy who got shot in the hallway. I can't imagine a minister who doesn't know the family or the person just trying to strong arm their way in and deciding to come to the funeral and do the eulogy. Ministers are sometimes asked to do funeral services for people who don't have a pastor but this wasn't the case. I wish more AA would just tell Reverend Darkness Al off. I'm using "Darkness" in respect to his personality not his ethnic group. Posted by: FenelonSpoke at December 08, 2014 07:13 AM (Dj3AB) 42

no Vic today? Don't remember if he had another medical session.
from weaselzippers: Embattled MIT professor Jonathan Gruber has not only gotten in trouble for bragging about helping President Obama put one over on the American people with Obamacare, he's also been uncovered as an abortion advocate - but not a run-of-the-mill advocate of "women's rights." No, Gruber's abortion advocacy is of a particularly pungent eugenics variety. He's on record repeatedly making the case from social science that abortion is a "social good" because it reduces the number of "marginal children," by which he means urban poor - those he says can be counted on to commit crimes if they were ever born. Gruber co-authored a paper during the Clinton years which argued that legal abortion had saved the U.S. taxpayer upwards of $14 billion in welfare benefits and that it also lowered crime. Is there a way you can discuss the other side of things with your pastor some other time. Some people just don't know either because they don't want to know or they only listen to mainstream media. At church is not a good time to discuss this but maybe you could e-mail her if you feel like it wouldn't get contentious My encouragement to you is try to focus on the elements of the service that you do like and the people you like there. I don't present myself as the perfect pastor and never will, but this is what I said about the incidents in Ferguson-No matter how ones feels about the verdict we should all be earnestly praying for peace. Now I know that most of the people there are conservative but we have too much going on in a service to devote much time to discussions that need another venue. I work with a drama group at The Lawrenceville School" which is made up of adults. The theatre teacher there- and he's been there a long time but long after after CB's time-is wonderful. He's talented, he's funny, he's a good teacher, he's nice. He came from a RC family in WV so I think he might have started out as more conservative but was involves in professional theatre for years so I think he lost most of the conservatism he has However, he said yesterday. "The faculty had a meeting about how to address Ferguson and I was crying in the meeting." I don't know if he was crying about social justice or the riots of both They want the teens to be interested in civil rights issues and they're just not. Is he surprised? Lots of kids of wealthy parents there. Many live abroad when they're not in hs and it's a multi ethnic community. Why would he expect that teens are care about this? What is the faculty trying to get across to the kids?
I left (because it was the end of our meeting while the teacher and some of the other people in the group were discussing the unfairness of the criminal justice system and the teacher said "I am 60. I gee up in the Civil Right era." It seems to be yearning for the the glory days of the sixties. I'm not sixty but I am not yearning for a return to that. They might think America is racist but they're in a self contained community boarding school- although they do have day students-which is extremely competitive. I don't think Ferguson is on their mind and I don't think they're watching any news programs in the evening.
The faculty and the parents of the kids are much more concerned. The kids, the theatre teacher reported, just don't want to talk about it. I also wonder whether the Asian kids of kids from other places just naturally have different idea about racism and American blacks. Of clues they have AA kids there too. one more interesting item, from the Washington Examiner:
A recent investigation by New Jersey lawmakers was unable to find any link tying Christie to last year's lane closures on the George Washington Bridge. The closures, which caused traffic jams, appeared to be motivated by political retribution against a local Democratic mayor that didn't endorse Christie's re-election bid. "Could evidence have been destroyed? Heaven forbid!" Rosenthal wrote Friday. At the heart of Rosenthal's speculation are reports that Christie and one of his staffers deleted a series of text message correspondence between them. Rosenthal, however, did not show the same skepticism regarding former IRS official Lois Lerner, who was at the center of a scandal in which the tax-oversight agency appeared to have been unfairly targeting mostly conservative and Tea Party nonprofit applicants. "t's pretty clear there was no conspiracy," Rosenthal wrote in April. Posted by: mallfly at December 08, 2014 07:56 AM (zjcTL) Posted by: Tex Lovera at December 08, 2014 07:57 AM (wtvvX) 108

Feminists are saying that women making rape accusations should be irrefutably presumed to be telling the truth and that any men falsely accused should just suck it up and appreciate the experience, including any imprisonment, for its benefits in consciousness raising.
How can they reconcile that with Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broadrick, Paula Jones and the Scottsboro Boys? The irony of all of them is massive but especially the last. 21st century feminists are indistinguishable from the racist 1930s prosecutors, judges and juries who were only too eager to execute men on the barest accusation made by a woman. It's as if Mayella and Bob Ewell are running Rolling Stone Magazine. If they weren't so intellectually dishonest and morally corrupt their cognitive dissonance would have exploded their heads by now. Richard Nixon's landslide victories in 1968 and 1972 were due in large part to public disgust with radical left-wing demonstrations. Riots at Berkeley played an important role in Ronald Reagan's rise to political prominence as Governor of California, too.
Demonstrations over the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases have often turned into orgies of looting and destruction. But even without violence, the leftists' cause is not a popular one. Some professional athletes, for example, are peacefully expressing solidarity with the protesters, which will turn off a substantial majority of viewers. He doesn't want our group to be like that and it really isn't. A few of the people have been in the theatre professionally. We just want to get back into doing study and small scenes. Here are the stats for 2013:
China 10 GT of CO2 28% of world total U.S.A 5 14% E.U. 3.6 10% India 2.5 7% Russia 2 5% Rest of world 13 GT 46% of world total. By this account China is already a rich country and should be the first to share. But it is getting worse. Barack Obama and the Chinese negotiator agreed on a deal that U.S. would reduce its greenhouse gases by 24 to 28% by the year 2025 and China promised to try to halt its scheduled growth by the year 2030. E.U. have legislated similar reductions as the U.S. So by 2030 we can look forward to a world CO2 emission balance like this: China 30 GT of CO2, 45% of world total U.S.A. 4 7% E.U 3 5% India 7.5 11% Russia 2 3% Rest of world 18 28 % of world total. This is what Barack Obama heralded as a major breakthrough! He will allow China to become six times as powerful as the U.S.A in the next 15 years. And we will help them by being part in transferring 100 Billion to developing countries (of which China is one) in the next 10 years. ... No, Gruber's abortion advocacy is of a particularly pungent eugenics variety. Yo, y'all.
Taking my daughter to the doctor today because her tonsils are swollen. And she has an ingrown toenail that's getting better very very slowly, but mostly the tonsils issue. Should I glare at the doctors the whole time or wait til they propose treatment and then start yelling "The President was right about you people!" There's a guy in it that "has the theatre bug" but took a correspondence school taxidermy course instead, that kind of thing. It is funny, yet I wonder if there isn't an edge to his liking for it that isn't so kind. Wow. Impressive lineup of conservative thinkers over there at Fox. Have they still got a token "right winger" there or is it all just MSNBC-lite these days ? "Beware making the Chinese into 1,000 foot giants. They have major structural issues that make what the Soviets faced look like a session of Sesame Street. And I, for one, trust their economic data LESS that the Soviets'. "
Exactly so. I'm old enough to remember a time when Japan was going to eclipse the US in economic might, leaving us forever in the dust. How'd that work out again? And thanks for pointing out that most if not all of the economic data we have on China is provided by, well, China. Not what one would normally call a reliable and truthful source. Time to celebrate the peacefulness with some bubbly. Meanwhile, back in New York, the leftwing radicals again invaded Macy's for some odd reason. They have nothing to fear since the mayor is on their side.
